"Having been a regular customer for over a decade to The Bell Inn, I was left very underwhelmed this time. Room was lovely and clean as usual, Tom on reception was fab. We chose to dine in the restaurant as normal and booked for 730pm so we had a nice long evening to enjoy eating and drinking. The menu is now very limited compared to previous years, we chose to have 4 starters to share and some rose wine with bread to start. Slight delay on bread, which came crammed on a small plate, which we had to ask for side plates after waiting for the waitress to reappear…the oil and balsamic was awful, there was so much oil chucked in the ramekin we had to ask for another, to pour some off to try and get to the vinegar. Food came out, and was put on table, again had to ask for side plates as we were sharing and still had bread on the other ones. No drinks check. Had to wait at bar to order more. Food was mediocre at best, we both have very good appetites especially after the harbour walk and some wine! but both ended up just picking at it. Ended up going to room with our wine very early, the only other table in the restaurant that was occupied had some sort of problem ordering due to “fryers being turned off” and got sandwiches and chips instead! Slept well as usual. Went for a quick dog walk before breakfast and narrowly avoided being hit by the chef arriving at 845am in the car park. Arrived on time for breakfast at 9am, lovely, lovely waitress served us, ordered full English and pot of tea, partner the same with coffee. Took a sip of the tea and it was barely lukewarm… spoke to waitress who was very apologetic and bought me a fresh one, turns out the rest of the room all had the same problem with tea and coffee as the urn hadn’t been turned on in time see chef comment food came out and was delicious and hot, and top quality as usual, we cleared our plates! Room was spotlessly clean, and the Tyneham hand wash/cream is so good! Overall disappointing as I know how good this place can be, and the first time I’ve ever encountered any problems. As stated before it was not busy in the slightest compared to previous years, so no excuse really. I will return as The Bell holds dear memories for me, I hope next year it will have ironed out these problems and be back to full glory!"

I had a great dining experience at The Bell Inn. I tried the quinoa and sweet potato salad, which I usually don't enjoy, but this dish was honestly delicious. The vegan feta on top added to the fantastic flavors.

This charming, unique pub has plenty of cozy corners, with a welcoming staff and a friendly pub dog. It is very accommodating for guests with dogs. I tried the vegan tart and it was absolutely delicious! The service was quick and efficient.

2 x pints and 2 x halves of soda and lime for £11.70 is too expensive. I understand the idea of not just ordering tap water and taking up a dinner table but we also spent £50 on food. It's not all about Adnams. Make non-alcoholic options more affordable!

After a long walk being dragged along by an enthusiastic Dalmatian we were hoping for some shade, water and food! We had a room to ourselves the service was quick and friendly the food delicious with dog treats for our companion. With a large dog in tow we are always worried that we won’t be welcome however here we couldn’t have been more accommodated.

Every year we visit here once we have crabbed, this year was the first time I’ve not given a 5* rating. We arrived for 12pm and noticed that the menu had changed, and the prices had increased which we understand happens, however some options on the menu wasn’t available that day and when asked about some meals taken off the menu, we was told it was due to a big change in the chef. Overall the food was lovely, the staff was friendly and service was fast. Overall it still is a nice family friendly pub.

I hadn't eaten here for a few years, but the food had always been good in the past so I decided to ignore this year's negative reviews. Big mistake this place now does average pub food at high prices e.g. £22 for a medium sized fish pie. Wine list is now very restricted. Service wasn't great either they brought out the fish pies at the same time as the shared starters, contrary to our instructions the manager seemed to insist that this was our mistake and therefore our problem! Still no bookings taken but we just about managed to find a table in the back dining room at 12:30 on a Sunday. It must remain popular only because it's one of only 2 pubs in Walberswick, but I won't be back.

We are local and after a lovely walk on the beach we decided to pop in the Bell to treat ourselves to fish and chip supper. What a disappointment, the service was super speedy and that was because the fish was obviously not cooked to order but had either been sitting under a heat lamp or refried, it was incredibly dark and crispy and dry although not inedible, the chips were great and enjoyable. There was another table near us who had the same complaint. We mentioned to the waiter that the fish was severely over cooked and he apologised and said he would tell the chef. Great shame as not a cheap supper. As the driver I had a pint of orange juice and lemonade which at over £5 was a real rip o...

"Sunday of our recent visit to aldeburgh was the Mother's Day and we welcomed the opportunity to taste the afternoon tea in the white lion hotel in adleburgh. the conditoir chef at the white lion is anmar odendal, an award-winning wedding cake designer. by her business crumb, she was recognized in 2013 by the high-time industry as the best wedding cake designer in the eastern englands. Our afternoon tea was florally inspired and included a selection of sandwiches, scones, cakes and pastries with a selection of tea, a glass champagne and a little pot flowers for mama, all at an incredible price of £20. it was overexamination good value and hard to think that we could get so much for so little. in a comparable iondon establishment would cost a afternoon as this probably at least £35 to £40. the selection of the fingersandwiches was delicious and included standard fillings such as gurke, sink, ei and water circles. the scenes were quite seductive, as they presented us an appealing texture. the outer was crispy and the interieur was soft. warm stuffed, the scones went floating with the dipped cream and delicious homemade skyberry jam. to the sweet things (my favorite part of a afternoon,) and on the top level of the tablet there were some beautiful pink meringue sandwiches lined with rosen water chantilly cream. these were delicate and as light as spring, and the combination with the cream was a good one. also on the top level was a zesty orange flower and vanille panna cotta sown with Indian orange blossom water and with fresh orange cest, popping sweets and a berry jelly. the jelly was particularly delicious as he was very fruity and helped to lift the panna cotta. the popping sweets was also a good note and gave the panna cotta an exciting twist. the panna cotta itself had a good consistency, but needed a little more vanilla for more taste. to move on the floor, and we really enjoyed the dark chocolate breweries as these were decadent and rich with an intense chocolate-y quality. the lavender sprocket was buttery and light, and the homemade makkarons of beet root and berry with a vanilla buttercream frosting filling were very welcoming. the macaron dishes were a little dense in the texture, but the taste combinations were a joy and were a joy to eat. a pistachio viktoriaschwamm came with a fabulous rose blossom jam center that really lifted the sponge with its sweet and exciting nature. it was a wonderful combination, and the sponge itself had a nice taste, although it was a touch dry. the themes for the afternoon tea on the white lion will change with the time as chef anmar constantly seeks new ideas and brings colorful inventions to the table. but is sure that every afternoon tee will be very pleasant. unique, colorful and funny, the pastries we tried were inviting to eat and showed solid technology. her creativity demonstrated the artistic and originality in her design. the sandwiches and skorn were also very good, and at a ridiculously reasonable price of £20 per head, the white lion showed that it is doing really well in the afternoon. I calculate today afternoon tee with 3.75/5"
