"The laughably poor Irish coffees were almost understandable, but not actually sure how a ‘French restaurant’ albeit fauxFrench, can actually cook a baked Camembert and get it so wrong. The rest of the food was just poor, added to which was generally haphazard service pushy and rushed at the start of the meal vs slow and uncoordinated for after dinner drinks and deserts. We have had passable Aubaine before in Mayfair, but this was just a big fail for Ken’ High St’"

"We were looking for a nice spot to fine alfresco on a Sunday afternoon and fell upon aubaine. We wish we hadn't. Boring menu, terrible value for money and appalling service. Normally I would avoid a french restaurant at all costs in order to avoid the typical snooty know it all french waiter. As it was a sunday, the sun was shining and the place was hiving I thought well let's give it a try. We waited 20 minutes for a menu. Another 10 for the wine menu and then to top it all the snooty French waiter arrived. I asked if the entrecôte was fatty, the response was it depends on the piece When asked how I wanted it cooked I said well done on the outside and pink in the middle. so you...read more"

"I had a wonderful afternoon at this restaurant, which catered exceptionally well to my vegetarian dietary needs. Instead of the typical boring sandwiches, they offered a variety of delicious options. The venue itself is absolutely stunning—a true hidden gem! The decor features amazing artwork from around the world. The service was excellent, and our waiter was very attentive. I will definitely return in the future!"

"I took my mum and mother in law for high tea and we were delighted the moment we stepped in, amazing decor and absolutely stunning dining hall! Never seen anything like that before! We booked via phone and we were asked for card details first I was bit reluctant but they explained due to everything made fresh for diners we want to make sure nothing goes to waste as they do not take walk-ins, they also assured card won't be charged until dining and there is no cancellation fee if cancelled in advance, which made sense! We like afternoon tea/high tea but I can assure I have never had such an amazing tea before! Everything was so fresh, from scones to sandwiches and pastries! They also gave us surprises with hot and cold canapés which were freshly baked! Which made sense for calling it high tea! As there was so much to eat, freshly baked hot bread with butter was scrumptious! We will be back it was the best high tea we ever had!"

"Amazing food! They had a good range of options on the menu. I think there'd be something to suit everyone. The prices were pretty good. The only downside was that it didn't seem as clean as I would like. The table was a little sticky and the knives and forks weren't clean but I am very picky about cleanliness. We went around 1 and it didn't seem too busy but the food took around half an hour to come. It was definitely worth waiting for! Service: Dine in"

"The food was terrible. I couldn’t even drink the coffee, the croissant was too oily and it wasn’t made with puff pastry. No comments about the Royale eggs two bricks with a sticky sauce. First time I need to write a review complaining about the food of a restaurant in London. Don’t go, there’s plenty of fantastic places for brunch in London which are even cheaper than this one. The fake lavender decoration doesn’t deserve these prices."

"On one of the hottest days the air conditioning was playing up but no attempt was made to bring in fans. The breakfast was lovely however it took almost an hour to come and the restaurant wasn’t that busy. Not sure if the breakfast is cooked for the hotel attached and this is the problem. The service wasn’t very good. Staff were rude asking if everything was ok but walking away before we answered. Not bringing any butter for about 10 minutes after it was asked for or tap water given the sweltering temperatures. Definitely wouldn’t return. I had booked this restaurant months ago after reading good reviews but our experience wasn’t very good."

"Food was consistently cold and even when sent back returned luke warm. Despite failure to get starters right, the second course was also cold. Servers were kind and considerate, but inexperienced. The manager done his best to save situation, taking dishes off bill and a round of free drinks. Which was appreciated. So we left as content, as we could but we would never go back and would never recommend. We had read similar reviews to this and should have listened to the feedback."

"eating was quite commendable and the service staff is terrible amiable, except that their linguistic skills have prevented them from explaining the times either in French or in English. the more in alignment of the deck made the place look more like the berliner hoff railway station. bad lighting and lack of love to detail the interior made the whole place on site with a high standard office kantine in the city, finally killing the feeling of intimacy in fine restaurants."

"I’ve been lucky enough to visit each Gate in London at least once and the one in Angel certainly stands out as my favourite. The space is bright and airy, with by far the best acoustics of each of the venues. The menu is always fantastic with plenty of vegan options in fact on this visit there was only one OLV option! The only thing that let them down this time around was some less than enthusiastic service. We went on a weekday lunchtime and it was quiet and yet still managed to be rather slow, and both waiters we had seemed as though they would rather be elsewhere! The Gate works as a fantastic venue for both casual and formal occasions and I will continue to go back for years to come!"

"Fantastic food and great service. Cannot fault at all and I am hard to please. It was my fiancée's birthday, great place for a spaecial occasion. Could definitely not do this in a regular basis though as £250 for 4 of us I found quite steep!"

"Superb. The interior is sweet as you can see in all pictures. The service is wonderful, the staff is very attentive, friendly and understanding. The food is good and they are open to feedback. They gave good recommendations. They have their own toilets, which is beautiful, as the ladies' room of the Selfridges had a great queen. Would definitely recommend it. I went there alone at the Boxing Day, and they really made me feel like seeing and watching."

"The Brasserie is a lovely decorated restaurant that played smooth jazz throughout our visit. As a birthday meal out, we were excited to try somewhere new in town. The first waiter was prompt at taking our drinks order, but barely apologised at the lack of gas (so no draught ales) and didn 't know too much about the bottled beers. Two couples order the charcuterie boards. The ciabatta bread was toasted and sharp, so it didn 't make for a pleasant bite. It snapped rather than crunched... And the rocket wasn 't dressed, so we were eating dry leaves. After this, the second waiter came to apologise that there wasn 't any creamy polenta to accompany the main, wild mushroom ragu, so he offered mashed potato or rice. When this meal turned up, there wasn 't any of the vegan cheese or rocket, which was also supposed to accompany the meal. What a waste of money, knowing that vegan cheese can be fairly costly. Nobody came to ask the party if the food was alright. We weren 't seen to for a good 30 minutes, despite being the only people in the restaurant. As well as the ragu, the steak dishes were underwhelming as well, even these salads weren 't dressed. Dry leaves make for a sad meal. We are sorely disappointed as we were really looking forward to the food here. The waiting staff were pleasant but didn 't have the experience or training that they really needed. A memorable moment: What 's the cheesecake of the day? Oh, it 's JUST the new york cheesecake. Just vanilla. Don 't undersell your food! Just vanilla is still great!"

"It's a real hidden gem! Literally and food wise. If not my friend who knows this restaurant well I would never be able to find it just passing by the building. This is a vegetarian restaurant one if the bests I have tried! We had such a nice, flavourful food, the coliflower fritters and jackfruit taco followed by the Thai carry served on a banana leaf and the beatroot burger with the polenta cheeps were all such a treat. All portions were very generous. We also tried the deserts : chocolate mousse and a raspberry millefeuille which were delicious. Very relaxed atmosphere and lovely service. We will certainly be back."

"although the restaurant was not overcrowded, eating was delivered in the wrong order, our cots come at the same time as our main courses. the main course was very poor cod with Thai curry was cold and tasteless (an achievement to make a curry so bland! I ordered as a page, described as 'old grains', which turned out to be quinoa, why not say so on the menu? again it was cold and tasteless. the restaurant confirms itself as open to 10 o'clock, but until 9.15 the staff began to turn the air conditioning so that it was so cold we had to wake up our hunting, even if we had not finished our meal, turn off the lights and begin to clean adjacent tables and clean the floor of the kitchen area we sat near. overall the attitude was involuntary, and eating (compared to what I bought in the deli in the past was very bad. I wouldn't eat there again or recommend to others to do this."

"I didn't realize this restaurant was in a hotel, but we figured out our direction and made it in time for our reservation all the same. Laurel on the Roof is a cozy restaurant with panoramic views of London. We went for brunch and I had the full English breakfast and my husband had the French Toast, both of which were fabulous. We paired the meals with mimosas and other breakfast cocktails, which were well balanced. The wait staff were attentive but not overly enough to bother you. We felt free to enjoy our meal at a leisurely place. It was a great meal to end our trip to the UK."

"Farmer browns used to be one of my favourite places to eat when I lived in the neighbourhood. I hadn't been to the restaurant in a couple of years when I booked in over the weekend. I was really disappointed. The decor has gone really shabby, and the restaurant felt grubby. There was different music playing inside and outside on the terrace, and with the door open, that became really distracting. We were the only people sitting inside the restaurant, and it was really quiet outside two, with just a couple of tables filled. Despite this, the table next to us remained stacked with plates and food left from previous diners for 20 minutes. When our starters arrived, one of the waitstaff started hovering next to us. Our drinks came warm. The starter of chicken wings was nice, but that was the highlight of the meal. Service was extremely slow we waited about 45 minutes between our starters and main. My partner's order was wrong, and my salad had no dressing on it. Despite all of this, it was pricey. It's a shame to see a once famous eatery lose its charm. I hope it will regain it."

"I enjoyed the soup and toast at Hula. It tasted great and the atmosphere was lovely. They served vegan butter too. The menu seems to have a great selection of vegan options so I will be back. Although I was a little disappointed to see that they charge extra for non-dairy milks, but otherwise a lovely meal!"

"Lovely location, and good weather enabled everyone to sit outside on the sunny terrace. The staff were friendly and welcoming and provided good service, but the food was disappointing. Some sandwiches were dry, tasted as though they'd been made the day before. The waiter replaced it promptly with another dry sandwich. The desserts were small taster size portions (which was fine) but did not appear freshly made. The cream tea part of the menu was nice, but again a very small scone. The gluten free option was preferred over the regular afternoon tea by our group."

"This is a balance of good food, ok service and super noisy. It is a nice place that serves good quality food and cocktails at a reasonable price. The service was ok-ish. Busy personnel that disappeared once you asked them something and returned at unpredictable moments. The downer, however was the sheer amount of noise that forced everyone to speak louder and louder. This didn't help at all... So, not sure I would recommend it despite the food. So, if you go, find a quiet moment... Not easy in center Dublin"
