"The Brasserie is a lovely decorated restaurant that played smooth jazz throughout our visit. As a birthday meal out, we were excited to try somewhere new in town. The first waiter was prompt at taking our drinks order, but barely apologised at the lack of gas (so no draught ales) and didn 't know too much about the bottled beers. Two couples order the charcuterie boards. The ciabatta bread was toasted and sharp, so it didn 't make for a pleasant bite. It snapped rather than crunched... And the rocket wasn 't dressed, so we were eating dry leaves. After this, the second waiter came to apologise that there wasn 't any creamy polenta to accompany the main, wild mushroom ragu, so he offered mashed potato or rice. When this meal turned up, there wasn 't any of the vegan cheese or rocket, which was also supposed to accompany the meal. What a waste of money, knowing that vegan cheese can be fairly costly. Nobody came to ask the party if the food was alright. We weren 't seen to for a good 30 minutes, despite being the only people in the restaurant. As well as the ragu, the steak dishes were underwhelming as well, even these salads weren 't dressed. Dry leaves make for a sad meal. We are sorely disappointed as we were really looking forward to the food here. The waiting staff were pleasant but didn 't have the experience or training that they really needed. A memorable moment: What 's the cheesecake of the day? Oh, it 's JUST the new york cheesecake. Just vanilla. Don 't undersell your food! Just vanilla is still great!"

Awful experience, our waitress an Eastern European lady was very rude not only to us but to tables around us. Please read reviews below, I ignored the negative reviews and I really regret it

The sandwiches were not very good. My mum does not like horseradish or mustard, but they were already put on the beef and ham. Usually, at other places, the sauces are brought in little dishes for customers to help themselves. The cakes were tasty, but unfortunately, we won't be returning.

My partner had won a voucher at a community raffle, otherwise we may not have considered The Brasserie as a place for afternoon tea. We had a fantastic time and were both really impressed. Everything was fresh, lots of flavour and beautifully presented. Scones were warm. Service was lovely. Unfortunately there was just too much for us to eat! Highly recommend.

Me and the wife had the 2 course pre- theatre evening meal yesterday 17th Dec. From entering the foyer the welcome was as warm as the lounge area! Lovely bar staff and maitre de. Waitress service was attentive and friendly. Food was well presented and piping hot. Portions were adequate and not overbearing. Thanks Royal Kings Hotel Brasserie for a great start to our evening.

We chose The Brasserie as the ideal location for our celebration. The room was elegantly decorated and we were able to personalize it with our own decorations. Our party of 29 all savored the main courses and desserts from the Sunday lunch menu. The prosecco and white wine were perfectly chilled. The service was outstanding. We want to extend our gratitude to all the hardworking staff members who made our celebration a success.

Our visit A birthday meal with 7 friends (empty restaurant other than us). Food Shocking for the price. The salad was dry, the triple cooked chips were highly crisp and my girlfriends meal was missing bits. Drinks Average, no beer available on tap downstairs. Staff Very nice although they came across as very inexperienced with no one more organised on the ball knocking about. To summarise If your a fan of poor food and service go for it. If not then there are plenty of better places in Lancaster to go for.

I went to the restaurant located inside the hotel after a bit of searching and being redirected. There were not enough signs indicating its location. My friend was served an undercooked lamb shank which had to be sent back. The replacement was cooked, but she struggled to get the meat off the bone. I had the chicken and mushrooms and promptly had to visit the restroom twice after leaving the restaurant. Enough said. The couple at the table next to us had to send back their steaks as they were not cooked properly. The waitress was excellent, however. Unfortunately, I will not be returning as the evening was spoiled by having to go home ill.

Booked the boozey afternoon tea for 9 people for 2pm. Bearing in mind that we had pre-odered the food prior to our arrival date. We got there and the hosts had no idea what they were doing. The prosecco was flat and we didn't actually get our food til 2.45pm and it was only because we questioned where the food was. The staff were in no way under pressure, as we were the only ones eating or rather waiting for food. The food was terrible. On the vegatarian platter, there was a sandwich which was tasteless and unrecognisable. I can only think it was hummus without the garlic and there was a strange yellow slice of something which I can only describe as a soggy yellow pepper, which was also tast...
