"There were 5 people In our group for lunch, 2 vegans, 2 veggies and an omni. 4 of us actually ordered from the vegan menu and 1 ordered a vegetarian dish. My main issue was that 2 of us (myself being vegan and the omni in the group! ordered the flat bread from the vegan menu it didn’t advertise coming with chips but when we ordered our waiter asked us which chips we would prefer so we both asked for sweet potato fries. When the fries came out they had cheese on them (despite us clearly ordering from the separate vegan menu . I’m not sure if this was an error on the waiter or the kitchen’s part but the waiter apologised. I shared the fries with one of the vegetarians in the group so I just avoided any that had cheese on them, however I’m now wondering whether actually they were not cooked in a separate fryer and this is why they weren’t on the vegan menu!? In terms of staff knowledge I was also disappointed when I asked what type of plant based burger it was on the vegan menu (I.e. meat substitute or bean based etc and our waiter didn’t know or really seem to understand the question (and didn’t offer to find out . That’s why I chose the flat bread instead and then had the cheese issue! My second main issue is that the food was pretty average especially considering the price. 3 of us had the vegan chocolate tart advertised as coming with fresh berries. (2 of us originally ordered the treacle tart which was sold out, fair enough . However 2 of us can’t eat strawberries so asked for the tart without them, expecting other berries instead, however the only berry on the third tart was a solitary diced strawberry! The tart was also pretty small considering it didn’t come with any accompaniment but cost £6.25! Overall it’s great they’re trying with a vegan menu but my view is that they must try harder!"

"Stopped coming here a year ago because of many issues, but reluctantly retuned early June to find the place had transformed back to what i remembered from years gone. Warm and welcoming with a lovely atmosphere. Everything was a plus the staff were so friendly one Emily in particular. We as a family thought new owners had taken over. As the management seemed different and to be fair the food was amazing. and despite the cost this was a treat that was truly worth it. We all couldn't wait to return. However fast forward a few months we all returned as a group to be so disappointed in the whole experience. The atmosphere we loved seemed to have disappeared and the feeling of warmth had gone. service was average but the food was so below par. we decided to ask why this had happened but was met by rudeness on a great scale by a young man claiming to be the assistant. Who claimed no one else had complained so what was the problem. No apology at all. We were goin to ask for a full refund but my wife decided to leave as she was too upset. The Manager came out as we left. too late if me and my whole party were concerned. I'm sure he was the Chef before, Perhaps he should return to the kitchen. This has always been considered a treat at the bunk what with the cost of living crisis. But myself and my friends will now spend our money somewhere else where you can get real value for money where people know what customer service and standards really are and your given that feeling that you would love to return. Here none of us will return and hope this review and experience may help others when thinking of treating themselves or using those extra pennies that are precious. Have no idea what is goin on here what a disaster. We all felt Cheated."

"Meeting friends here for Sunday lunch this afternoon, we 've all come away slightly disappointed by our choice. The Black Horse is immaculate, having clearly had a decent budget spent on interior decoration and furnishings, with a cherishing of its connections to nearby Pinewood the walls are festooned with black and white photos of famous film stars and directors who have been past customers. At the same time, the bathrooms are labelled stable boys and stable girls , playing on the obvious coach house traditions from a pub at a crossroads. All very nice, as were the lovely staff who greeted us as we arrived and brought us our food. But that 's where the problem lay. All of the niceties failed to disguise the fact that our food was really very disappointing. Five had opted for the roast beef, all agreeing that the beef was very well done, with rock hard Yorkshire puddings and soggy broccoli. I 'd opted for bangers and mash, to be presented with a small mound of mash, three sausages and a large bowl of peas. The mash was really quite inadequate a portion, certainly in relation to the peas portion. As we were amongst the first of the day (1245 for 1), this disappointing food offer seemed hard to explain there was no rush to handle. We were at least ten minutes into the meal before being asked if all was well some of our party would have complained if we 'd had time to accept a second run at the meal, but we didn 't. So, with a bill of £73 for four adults and three kids, only one kid seemed happy with her meal, while everyone else left a little less than impressed. Definitely, it could have been better."

"We had a reservation at the restaurant but upon arrival they took a while to find the booking. We had a window table overlooking the river although the dining area was a bit cramped as the conservatory was fractionally too narrow to allow free passage with waiting staff coming and going at a busy time. The waiter who served us was very good as was the waitress who brought us our wine, very personable. We we expecting the conventional menu so we're a bit disappointed when it was a restricted Sunday menu which wasn't clear on the website. We shared a mussels starter which was sublime. Complimentary fresh bread with an interesting homemade butter was served. The tarragon chicken with green beans and fries was flavoursome and light. The fish and chips were good with a very light, perfectly cooked batter. The dish also had peas and tartare sauce. We also had a Scottish cheeseboard, which was substantial to share and had a good selection of breads, crackers, celery, and grapes. There was pickle too, but we didn't try this as we aren't big fans of brown pickle. The dish was well presented on a wooden chopping board but was a tad cold from the fridge and could have benefitted from being left out a bit earlier to get to room temperature thereby enhancing the flavour and taste. When I asked about the name of one of the cheeses, the waiter very kindy brought out a whole cheese to show me its name and provenance (Old Smokey Isle of Kintyre). The service was attentive but not rushed. The menu had a choice of two or three course options for a set price, which represented great value for money. In the main, the restaurant was clean and had nice decor. We would definitely return to try the fuller menu. There are only a few quality restaurants in Inverness but this is certainly one of them and that mussel dish is a must!"

"I booked originally for 6pm and had to change to 6:30pm due to traffic. I hadn’t confirmed The new booking so the host could not find a booking for us. It was my father’s birthday and I was really worried I had messed it up. The host, was fine and was still able to get us seated, we were very pleased with that. We were given a choice of tables, and as a larger guest, I was able to be seated comfortably. We’re we’re served by Tom. S ,for the evening. OMG! What a charming and delightful waiter. He was attentive, had great banter and held a wonderful conversation, wished my father a happy birthday, and tended to my wine being filled up all evening. He made us feel wonderful, and made me feel like a million dollars. The food was absolutely superb, French onion soup was perfectly seasoned, the croutons were Devine along with a salty cheese. Loaded with sweet onions: The liver parfait my husband had was delicious he said. My dad and husband had the beef bourguignon, and I had the chicken, gratin with a side of dauphinois potatoes… Again… absolutely perfect. The service here was top notch, and Tom.S made our first experience at Côte the best. He is a first class waiter, that I would compare to the the likes of The Ritz and The Savoy. Fantastic personality, and very well groomed and presented. What a fabulous and marvellous team member you have there. Cherish that! We will definitely return, and recommend this restaurant highly. 5 Service from Tom.S and the chef."
