"I came here to celebrate my birthday on Thursday. I couldn’t not leave a review. The service was so wonderful, warm and welcoming. Your front of house team couldn’t do enough for us and made my birthday meal feel so special, especially the lady with the blonde hair (and stripy t-shirt) … thank you so much for such fantastic service and especially for being so lovely with my little boy. We got to try the new summer menu and it really did exceed expectations! The salmon and cream cheese arancini were better than the ones I tried in Sicily! I only wish I had room for dessert. Compliments to the chefs, everyone’s food was exceptional. Just a really really impressive evening and I can’t wait to come back. Thank you!"

"I was looking for a nice place to enjoy a meal with a lovely atmosphere, and a friend recommended The Wild Duck Inn, so I decided to give it a try. I was truly impressed by this restaurant. It had a warm and welcoming vibe, beautifully decorated in a way that made you feel the history of the building. The food was absolutely outstanding, but what really stood out was the staff. Our drinks and food were served promptly, and the waitress was incredibly attentive, making sure we were well taken care of. The menu offered a good variety of choices at reasonable prices. I’m already planning my next visit and will be bringing friends with me. If I could give more than five stars, I definitely would!"

"Honestly they let themselves down this time. It was not busy, I’d say about 3-4 tables worth of customers and maybe 2 couples outside. We walked in and got told to sit anywhere. Then we sat for a good 15 minutes before getting served. Whilst waiting the two gents working there were scruffy and wearing dirty white trainers, which wasn’t a great professional look. The 2 female workers were much better dressed in casual yet smart clothing. Whilst waiting we were watching the 2 male workers slooowly make about 8 cups of coffee. I’m not sure why it took both of them to make these cups and it was painfully slow to watch! We finally ordered and got served our drinks pretty quick. The food didn’t take a long time to come and although it was clear my burger had been sat under the heater for a while it still tasted very good. The fish and chips were very nice and were very pleasant. Although we didn’t use the carvery a lot of people had to stand and wait for a few minutes before getting served each time. To be fair I do like the Gib rock but it was the staff that ruined it this time (two of them anyway) and it was clear there was a lack of ‘leadership’ and with someone taking charge and having more control over what seemed a jumbled and confused staffing situation I think the issues I’ve mentioned would of been thwarted. Plus dressing a bit smarter. I’m not asking for a tux but at least clean attire (again the female workers were fine). Will I be returning to the Gib rock… in a nut shell yes! However we are re thinking plans to have my partners evening there before our wedding which is something that will be discussed over the coming weeks."

"So sad to find the pub closed, we decided to pop over for bank holiday drinks with my elderly in laws both in their 80s who have fond memories of the pub from their younger days. They were so looking forward to it, We didn't check the Internet arrived to find the barrier down so couldn't even get near to the pub to have a nosey.. I really hope it's not closed down forever"

"We took our friends for a Bento box lunch on Thursday. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal as we usually do. We will come again very soon because all the menu is lovely. I would like to conclude by saying that the restaurant staff, especially Nancy (who we all felt went that extra mile to make everything fun and enjoyable) where very welcoming. We would all recommend lunch at Mannings to our friends. Tom Hall. Service: Dine in"

"Soya Woking Overall We visited there last week during Easter Holiday. Not very busy when we arrived here so you don’t need to book the table if you want to have dinner in there. We order: Superior Platter Including:8 Pcs sashimi, 8 pcs nigiri, tobiko gunkan, 8 pcs tuna avocado rolls; Served with miso soup. And they gave us one extra miso soup for us which is very welcome and very friendly! The whole thing is very delicious and very filling. And the price is amazing and worth to pay. All sashimis are great and taste fresh. Kimchi pancake A little bit too dry and some of the pancakes are a bit burnt in another side. Korean Spicy Crispy Squid Spicy crispy Squid is my all time favourite! "

"Highlights: Booked the Christmas Lunch menu for 8 people, Pre Ordered. Arrived and no Christmas Lunch was available. Ordered from the Sunday Lunch menu instead. Waited ages for the food, which did not come out at the same time. Quality of the food was actually good but it 's not an experience I wish to repeat. Complained numerous times. No idea who was responsible probably never find out. 5 weeks ago I made a phone booking for 8 people for the Christmas Lunch menu. I visited in person 3 weeks ago with a Pre Order of our food choices and provided written confirmation of the booking (and paid a £10 per head deposit . Imagine my surprise when I turned up to find we would not be provided any of the Christmas lunch we had ordered. The reason the Kitchen (which is run as a separate business!! had recently been changed to new management. I enquired why had nobody thought to contact me after all I have provided a written booking well according to the Bar Manager that was someone 's fault but not hers, but she would investigate. We were offered the Sunday Lunch menu instead. We asked to see the menu and had a mobile phone thrust forward as, at the time, they hadn 't got any physical menu 's. The starters were all fish seafood related. 3 of the party decided to select the white bait. We wanted to order our Mains at the same time but the Server never came back. After waiting 40 minutes I returned to the Bar Manager and asked why we were waiting so long. She visited the Kitchen and was told they were just plating them up, and they did arrive shortly thereafter. After Starters were consumed we were able to order our Mains. We feared this may also take some time to appear...and we weren 't disappointed. About 40 minutes later the Server came out with one meal, and we had high hopes the remaining 7 meals would come out rapidly thereafter. No, but another table did receive their order. Our 'lucky ' diner almost finished their meal before the rest of us were able to start to enjoy ours. 15 minutes from 1st meal to last meal. The Roast we had was good quality, well cooked and extensive. If we wanted Salt, Pepper, Napkins, Sauces etc that wasn 't on offer, but available if we asked! We had intended to have a Desert but as we 'd already been there 2 hours and none of us could stand the thought of waiting another prolonged period for the final course we decided to call it a day. I returned to the Bar and asked for an itemised Bar bill, which I got and checked, and paid it. When I turned around the Server was next to me thrusting her card reader at me. I said I wanted an itemised bill and she disappeared. When she re appeared she had written the items we had ordered on her pad and the prices for each. I agreed to pay some of the Food bill (2 3rds but not the full bill. I explained the reasons for my decision to the Server and the Bar Manager. In view of the issues I experienced I asked to speak to the Owner. I was told he was not available so I asked if he would call me to discuss my experience, hence I have waited 2 days expectantly for his call before publishing this review. I 'm pretty certain that I 'll never get a call but I wouldn 't be surprised if he replies to this review with some rubbish. If anyone has ever visited a pub restaurant where you are told they operate as 2 separate businesses please let me know...and I 'll avoid it like the plague!"

"I sometimes wish TA had another button. Six would be good as the difference from average to very good in my opinion is good and good is what the LC is... it's certainly not average. As others have said. This is a typical Yorkshire pub. No airs, no graces. The food is good, not brilliant. The atmosphere was good. And good value for money. Let me explain. Sunday lunch. The vegetables with the Roast Beef were poor overcooked and tasteless. The beef however was good and the Yorkshire Pud when it came, excellent. Gravy excellent. The Scampi was really good lots of it, hot and tasty. the chips okish and just short of more peas. The crumble just liked mother used to make. Lots of it. Would we go again? Yes we would, whilst the LC did have a few rough edges, overall it offered traditional food at fair prices."

"Went for a birthday lunch with work friends. Had been recommended here many times but this was my first time of trying. It is a small place (only three tables) but it is super clean and the staff friendly. We ordered from the small but perfectly formed menu. I can't remember/pronounce the main dishes but they were in large bowls (like stews) with side dishes of rice, dumplings, prawn tempura. The food came very quickly and was absolutely delicious. I had the stew with spicy soup, seafood and silken toffee, kimchee and vegetables. The gyoza style dumplings were perfect with a slightly crispy shell. The meal was really reasonable at £45 for 3 and there was sooo much food. The portions are huge. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. We have vowed to make it a birthday tradition from now on. Luckily, we have another birthday in three weeks!! Can't wait to go back..."

"The staff when we first arrived was really friendly the service at first seemed like they was due a rush so wanted us in and out. We had the Carvery well I say cavery it’s more like ingredients they had left over in the kitchen. The meats are stacked in tins on top of each other under the heaters as there’s no space so they take the meat to a chopping board and cut all the meats on the same board. There’s non of the usual Cavery veg you get potatoes (roast and mash) some oily sweet potatoe and some sort of peas, the gravy was very watery. Once we sat the food was cold so it’s not doing anything under the heaters. I will never return here the price for what you get just doesn’t add up."

"What a great Italian Restaurant in the heart of the village of Lindfield. The staff very attentive and knowledgeable of all the dishes. Great atmosphere and with Halloween soon, the decorations very spooky, perfect for a party. We ordered Gnocchi Pesto Pasta Bolognaise, brilliant and exceptional! To accompany the meal a tasty salad with black olives. Well worth a visit and going back soon Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian selection Service: Take out"

"Been coming to Bistro Romano's for almost a year now and it's safe to say it's a beautiful place to come and eat, the service is fantastic and the environment is a very comfortable place to be. The food is some of the best Italian food not just in Barnsley but Yorkshire on the whole, if you've not been before then you are missing out. Give it a go and I'm sure you won't regret your decision."

"I arrived around 7:30pm on a Thursday with my work colleague, and we were the only ones in the restaurant. I ordered the unagi bento box and a side of salmon sushi rolls, both of which were delicious. The sake we ordered made the meal even better - I had warm sake and my colleague had cold sake. The amount of sake we received was very generous, and it took us 2 hours of chatting and drinking to finish our drinks. Overall, I would give the food a 5-star rating."

"The seating area in the restaurant is lovely and airy. We found a table with ease but it was mid-week. I imagine the place can become rather crowded at weekends and bank holidays. My husband chose Thai chicken curry which was served to him from the deck straight away. I asked for fish burger but was told we had to order that at the till with a table number. What is that nonsense all about? This meant that while I went to pick a table, my husband had to wait around with his plate of food in hand before he could pay and order my fish burger. How would this work during busy periods if you're a lone diner? Someone else may have grabbed your table in the time you'd stood in the queue for 10 minutes waiting to order and pay. As a result of this ridiculous system, my husband had long finished his meal before mine arrived. This crazy ordering system needs to be looked into Mr Bent! To be fair, both meals were tasty and enjoyed. However, the prices are insane! You are basically an upmarket canteen charging restaurant prices and at more than £6 for a slither of cheesecake, I am glad I was on a diet and could quite happily skip the dessert and cake counter guilt free. I agree with other reviewers that the whole system is chaotic. Have hot food on one counter, sandwiches and snacks on another and cakes and desserts on a totally different one, etc. I don't understand this idea of mixing and matching although I presume the idea is to remind you when ordering hot food that there are cakes and desserts on offer as well. We enjoyed the garden centre section and bought a few plants. but that was pretty much where our interest ended. I purchased some veg and salad from the food hall but don't see why you have franchises of Lakeland and a cook shop which basically sell the same things, virtually next door to each other and don't get me going on the hideously expensive indoor section selling lady's clothes and home decor. I would have liked to see a better selection of garden furniture and furnishings such as they have in Gordale and Burleydam at Ellesmere Port and on the Wirral. Both have a far better balance of home and gardenware. It's all a bit weird and confusing and I won't be rushing to go back."

"My favourite place to eat in Surbiton! The staff are so friendly, and we’ve always had wonderful service. My favourites for a weeknight comfort meal are the kitsune udon, and the fried chicken curry udon. I also love the takoyaki and chicken karaage, both of which are so full of flavour and taste hot and fresh. For a special dinner, the sushi boat is incredible such a huge variety of different sushi, presented well, and amazing value when you’re eating as a couple or in a group. Comes so quickly, with salads and miso soup. To finish off, drinks like sake and plum wine are reasonably priced. A real gem in Surbiton, with unpretentious and relaxed interior. Speedy service when dining in, and food still tastes fresh when delivered to nearby."

"I loved the first experience of Japanese food. Great atmosphere and accommodating friendly staff. Apparently this business grown from street vendor/pop up. So lovely to see how this business has grown. But back to the food. The soft shell crab not for me again BUT it was tasty in the Bento box, just my perception of the whole crab (I absolutely do love all sea food including crab and squid). I love rabbit but the whole crab I found difficult to eat. I would eat the Chicken and tofu bento box my colleagues had. Loved octopus balls, ha ha and topped off with Japanese beer. That's it. A lovely meal, experience, evening, thanks"

"I received a parking fine over 2 years ago and there were no signs on the table. Couldn't be bothered with all the hassle so eventually paid a fine for the worst meal I have ever eaten. Would rather be over charged for food at bents, as at least they provide nice food and free parking with no threat of a fine. I know at least 10 people who have been fined at this pub for simply supporting a local business. Not just myself) Such a shame as the pub is a beautiful building and I remember it being good home cooked food and free parking back in the 90s. Another local pub decimated. : ."

"Called here for Sunday lunch, wasn't busy, as I entered there seemed to be more staff than customers. They ask you for your pudding order with your mains order which is rather strange. Service was prompt,, in fact a little to prompt, Ordered the Roast, which consisted of bought in Yorkshire puddings, pork was tender, red cabbage which I love, tasted off, roast potatoes under cooked. Mains was cleared as soon as I laid my cutlery onto the plate and my pudding was delivered straight away. We were still chewing our puddings when the waitress cleared the dishes. Seemed to have a lot of new staff training with no one showing them the basic standards. What a shame!"
