"beautiful place, has a dedicated vegan menu, which is also gluten free! large portion sizes with the possibility of aligning some to have a smaller plate. we also liked that eating was freshly prepared instead of a quick microshaft to place meal, they can get to places. only negatiw I have that if they like me limited mobility/ wheelchair driver there is no bottom loo, but there is a nearby public toilet. definitely visit again if in the opposite! updated from the previous review on 2018-07-11"

"So happy to have found a relatively local pub that does a great vegan Sunday roast. There is a choice of seitan or nut roast or alternatively pies. The choice when we were there was sausage and onion or mushroom and guinness pie. You can add cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pudding to the roast and choose a smaller portion which by the time you have added all the vegetables was more than sufficient. If you don't want a full dinner then there is a seitan Sunday batch. Three pudding options of apple crumble, ginger sponge pudding and chocolate nut brownie. We will definitely be back. The food was great and the staff were so friendly and helpful and made sure they only brought out vegan options."

"Booked a table for us both for 8 o'clock was no problem getting it booked . Friendly staff nice and cool atmosphere clean tables ordered Beef stroganoff and chicken with ginger skilled. One with chips and one with Garlic bread.so we could share . .took a while to come. But had no problem waiting as it was being cooked fresh and hot...food was lovely very tasty and just enough to make you full but not busting will be back again as we live in Newton Abbot ."

"BE WARNED …DISABLED NOT WELCOME AFTER 9PM. Took my disabled grandson to the Poineer to buy him a pizza, he has Cerebral Palsy and struggles badly with his speech and walking. Found a seat no problem as the place was half empty…9.15 pm on a Tuesday night. I told him to have a look at the menu while I went to the bar for drinks. I happened to look over while standing at the bar and could see a female member of staff talking to him, I presumed she was just chatting to him but as it turned out she had actually pounced on him while he was on his own and was harassing him for I.D. to prove his age (he’s 22 . Any sensible person would know when speaking to him he was disabled. She told him he wasn’t allowed here after 9pm without I.D. She then approached me at the bar and asked if I was with that person over there. I tried to explain to her that he was my grandson and he was disabled and he was 22 and doesn’t drink alcohol and was just in for a bite to eat, she was not interested and insisted we left as we had no I.D. to prove his age. I had to walk home with him to get his passport and walk back to show it just to get him a pizza…the only reason I went back was to keep him calm and didn’t want him blaming himself for what had happened as he is very self conscious about his disability. An absolutely shocking and disgraceful experience made worse by the fact I wasn’t a stranger to the member of staff as I have been going there regularly for the past few years. The female member of staff should be sent on a people management course as she clearly has no customer care skills. Needless to say I won’t be returning and certainly wouldn’t advise anyone to go here after 9pm with a disabled person."

"The restaurant boasts a diverse menu, delicious food, and outstanding service. Although the pub was fully booked, our meals arrived promptly, showcasing great efficiency. It’s a charming venue, filled with cozy nooks and crannies. However, we found the labeling for the restrooms a bit confusing, as it took us some time to realize that "Gulls" indicated the female restroom. Other than that minor issue, we have no complaints and will definitely be back. Meal type: Lunch."

"I used to come to this spot with my mum and dad about 18 years ago and I’m so glad it’s kept its overall outstanding service. I have been about 6 times over the past 12 months (once for Christmas Day) and they never disappoint. The management and staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is always amazing. Keep up the great work guys and I will see you again once I have lost a few pounds."

"We popped into this pub after taking a diversion off the M11 on our way to Stansted, due to heavy traffic caused by a car accident. Given the time we decided to stop for food before we got to our hotel so we were fed and watered (we have two boys who love to eat). What a choice if pub we made! We were very warmly welcomed by there bar staff and sat in a very cosy part of the pub. The food was great and exactly what was needed. Decided to go for the Rib eye steak and was not let down, but the star of the show was the peppercorn sauce! The rest of the family enjoyed their meals and we would recommend this place to anyone."

"I popped in for a planned lunch on a Friday with my family. We sat in the restaurant area and felt immediately at home. A lot of that was down to the wonderful and kind service we received from start to finish. The pub itself is well looked after, clean and tidy. The food was fresh and tasty, the menu has a decent amount of variety. I can see myself returning there again and look forward to trying other dishes on their menu. "Have just visited the restaurant with two friends for lunch. I am saddened to say that although the pub has recently been refurbished the food and service remained very much the same. I ordered chicken and chips from the 2 course lunch menu, the chicken breast was very small and so over cooked it was virtually inedible. The only reason I didn't complain is for two reasons firstly my two friends had their meals which we had waited an age for) and if mine was replaced they would have long finished theirs before i got mine again and secondly I have complained in there before and the staff become very hostile. The staff really didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing and when they sort help, the supervisor didn't appear very happy to assist them . All in all a very disappointing experience which I won't be repeating."

"We eat here regularly, sometimes we sit in for lunch, other times we get a takeaway and on occasion we’ll pop in to grab a coffee and a chat. The staff are always friendly and happy to chat, especially Eddie the manager, but also the waiting staff and even the chef will take a few moments to say hello. The food is always fresh and cooked to order as well as quite reasonably priced, don’t go in if you’re not hungry because the portions are generous. If you are feeling brave order the Calzone, it’s a monster of a meal but so delicious."

"We went to this restaurant tonight after a day of exploring the area. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted warmly and the service throughout our meal was outstanding - attentive, polite, and genuine. The menu offered typical pub food at affordable prices. We had starters and main courses, and I felt like I was going to burst from eating so much delicious food! The dishes were excellent, especially the chicken and leek pie which had a deliciously hearty filling with plenty of meat. Overall, we had a great experience with fantastic service, tasty food, a lovely atmosphere, and affordable prices. It was everything we could have asked for."

"I visited this charming village pub for their Burns Night special and had a fantastic experience. The service, presentation, and quality of the food were all top-notch. The mains were delicious, with perfect portion sizes and beautifully cooked sides. The haggis was wonderful, and the whiskey sauce was a real treat. I highly recommend this hidden gem in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was lovely, and the separate bar and dining rooms made it a great spot for a drink or a meal. Don't miss out on their delicious sundaes for a sweet ending to your meal."

"They have a free campsite here which is brilliant. Good flat pitches and a toilet with shower that you can use. We had a meal in the pub which for the most part was ok but one of the meals was not very good, nuked new potatoes which were quite inedible and Hunters Chicken which was just a butterflied chicken breast smothered in bottled barbecue sauce with a strange cheese topping! To be fair the staff were very helpful and understanding and took the price of this meal off the bill. It was probably just a one-off as they seemed to be having staffing issues. It is a quaint pub with a good atmosphere."

"We visited early December of last year (2022 . We took my husband’s grandmother out for lunch. We chose The White Horse based on recommendations (a lot of them! . When asking for recommendations from friends/family the most important thing was ‘homemade’ food for us. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the lady behind the bar. She was super helpful, explained how to order and offered to get us a highchair. After explaining our almost 2 year old would climb out of a highchair she went and got a booster seat so he could sit up the table with us which worked a treat! Even when it came down to ordering wine (I’m not a wine drinker the bar lady went over to our table to chat about wines and then choose one for a member of our party which she loved. Right, the important bit the FOOD…. Oh my goodness where do I start? My husband had the Panang Thai curry, it looked amazing and he said it tasted incredible. I opted for lasagne, the mince was lovely and tender. It came with a good amount of salad, coleslaw and chips. Grandmother had the fish and chips and said she could not fault it. Nice choice of children’s meals and my son’s looked very appetising. We would 100% return to this pub. Honestly their food offering is well above what most pubs would offer. Only regret is we didn’t try it sooner."

"Firstly staff were great and friendly, and made us feel really welcomed. Pickle tray was actually generous which was nice but again another thats missing the lime pickle . Mains wise, good portion of mushroom rice, fragrant and tasty. The lamb achari sauce base was rich and moreish, the meat tender. The chicken passanda was OK.. Chicken pieces were a tad tough which was a shame as the sauce was nicely balanced and smooth. The garlic naan was unfortunately a little anemic, just needed that extra minute as it was doughy on certain parts. We were one of the first ones tonight in the restaurant, so maybe a start of service hiccup, but wasnt what we remembered when we last visited."

"Not massively impressed, my partner ordered additional items to his meal (which cost extra) which he didn’t receive, my meal unfortunately came out mostly cold so I ate half of it and left the remaining. For 2 meals and 2 drinks which came to over £50 I was very unsatisfied. I don’t like to complain as the staff may have been up against it and the fact it was raining may possibly have meant they waited to bring the food out which meant that’s why it was a bit cold? The staff themselves were lovely so couldn’t fault them but sadly we hoped for better and to receive what had been paid for. "We were celebrating our family Christmas early and needed a very special meal out. The Foresters Arms was the perfect venue and the handsome chef here certainly knows his craft! The starters were fantastic. Cooked to perfection. Very tasty. Scallops with black pudding for the brave and an Egg Royale for the more “cautious” eaters. Both delicious and cooked to perfection. For our main course we were treated to a VERY special bespoke pie. This was served as a single pie to the table. It looked amazing. The surrounding tables gasped and asked us if it was on the menu. Beautifully decorated. Very very impressive! Cutting this at the table and sharing it out brought the theatre to the occasion. The beef melted in our mouths. Everyone had their own jug of gravy which is a nice touch. Plenty of vegetables and all cooked to perfection. Honestly delicious and excellent value for money. Service was attentive and very friendly. A perfect celebration for the family and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thank you!!!"

"The Kings Head is our favourite Stamford pub. Just off the main High Street, it is a hidden oasis of cosy, traditional charm. Incredibly well run by friendly and efficient staff. It is waiter service only, which cleverly avoids the usual battle of thirsty punters at the bar. Not having eaten there in a while, we decided to try the burgers. They were incredible! I had a ‘Dunker’; cheese and bacon burger with dipping gravy. Honestly, it was the best burger I have ever eaten. My husband, was just as enthusiastic about his ‘Slaw Galore’; brie and coleslaw. The fries were crispy and hot. Perfect! We are already planning our next visit."

"Usually only have a drink which is excellent plenty of choice and reasonably priced. Decided to try food. Wednesday 28/05/2024 evening. Ordered Cod and Chips and Sirloin Steak and chips. Chips lukewarm at best both meals. Peas with Fish and Chips came with sweetcorn which I hate and it spoiled my meal. When I asked waitress why the mix she just took plate away and made no comment. Cod and Steak were good."
