"Let's start with the positives. 1. The decor was nice, spacious and open 2. Service was professional 3. Prices were ok. 4.food portions were huge and food was hot Now the problems. 1. We were a family of 4 with a toddler sitting in the restaurant area. The food took quite a while to arrive. 2. The chips were hot on the outside but hard and undercooked on the inside. 3. We were sitting right by a flat screen tv which was off to begin with. The football came on and 5 flat screens including the one next to us was turned on and the sound up to full blast. We asked 3 members of staff to either turn the one in the restaurant off or turn the sound off, all agreed yet no one did anything. We and our toddler had to sit and eat our meal surrounded by 5 screens of loud football on, we were unable to have a conversation because it was too loud, the man on the table next to us had his hand down his pants, the loud shouting was making my toddler jump, the doors were all closed and no air con on,on a hot day, this was compleately inappropriate in the family food section. I feel we wernt listened to, there were 4 other screens by the bar showing the football, I had to resort to putting cotton wool in my ears, and the atmosphere was horrible, it was a total waste of money, eventually we abandoned our meal and walked out! Sorry but I wouldn't totally reccomend this pub for family eatting."

"this is somewhere I've wanted to try for a long time, but as my husband doesn't eat seafood, for a long time there wasn't a lot on the menu that appealed. More recently, there has been more chicken, beef, veggie and vegan options, all of which he enjoys, so we decided this time we were giving it a go. it opens at 12, and we arrived more or less on the dot there. the decor is quirky and cosy, and very comfortable. loved the skull mirrorball in the bar alcove. we were easily able to get a table, but for the time of day on an off peak weekday, it soon got busier. it seems very popular. we were able to order quickly. and didn't have to wait too long for our food. I had the Gumbo, which is a favourite of mine, but not available as widely as you'd hope in many UK eateries. (I do make a very good one myself, but can't resist it) the portion was generous, with a good sized side of delicious rice and beans, which had a lovely spiciness to it, and a lovely, light almost brioche like cornbread, delicious for dipping in the rich, flavourful sauce. the gumbo comes with plenty of tender chicken, spiced sausage and king prawns. the flavours were lovely. not overly hot (not that I mind a hot gumbo) but had a lovely rich depth to the sauce, with all the different flavours mingling beautifully. fortunately, as I don't have the biggest appetite, they were happy to provide me with a container to take my leftovers home in, as it would be a tragedy to let it go to waste. I only have a smaller appetite, despite how much I LOVE food, so this way I get two fantastic meals out of it instead of just one. staff were very accommodating, the house lager was decent, and my husbands burger looked really nice too. on future visits I'd love to try out some of the cocktails, but it was a little early in the day for that sort of thing for me. great atmosphere. fun decor. delicious food. quick and accommodating service. can't fault it. the prices tend to be a little higher than we would normally pay on a meal out, but you definitely get your moneys worth, so it's perfect as a bit of a special treat. the only downside I can see is that it is up a stone staircase, so will not be accessible to everyone. but for those that can visit, it's definitely worth it. part of me wants to work my way through the entire seafood menu, and part of me wants to just keep going back for that delicious gumbo."

"We came to see Coda, but ended up with Letz Zep our first visit to this little pub. The food was ok and the event itself was reasonable even though it was raining and the tents leaked plus the lead singer should have given up a long time ago ! Whlie I initially liked the village pub feel almost like my own village so the wobbly tables and broken bits I just viewed as quirky it quickly became clear there were some weird policies. The website said we must call and book our car parking in advance so we did, only to be told we didn 't need to at all so why put it on the website? . The loo downstairs, which I was directed to in the intermission, was really gross brown water in the loo and baby changing right next to it. Definitely needs a good clean, as did the ladies inside I was glad to be at an event outside tbh. The food also had to be ordered in advance and the website said must be paid for in cash although on the night they said that too was not the case and we could pay by card again, why put it on the website? . Then I tried to buy a glass of wine to go with my £8 potatoe no salad, no garnish at all and was told I must buy a whole bottle for £23. I 've only come across that policy at the big exploitative 80s festivals and was quite shocked. When I queried I was told I 'd have fun if I drank a whole bottle and if not I could complain to the landlady. I declined to do that at the time, choosing instead to feedback via email, privately. I duly sent an emailI and then responsded to theirs saying please let us know should the policy change. The next day I received yet another email, tis time from the landlady, telling me basically that I should have come to see her at the time and why I was incorrect in my feedback. I replied, because all the reasons she gave for not selling wine by the glass made no actual logial sense, esp because they weren 't applied to any other measures of alcohol ... I then received a very long email from the landlord accusing me of sending long tiresome emails and telling me how in the wrong I am and that they obviously cannot placate me. Sadly it 's evidently that this is our pub and if you like it you 're welcome, but if you give us any feedback we don 't agree with, then you are an unreasonable customer! . A great shame that feedback is received so unprofessionally and the overreaction was so rude, especially considering selling wine by the glass and bottle is entirely normal, and boxes of wine actually work our cheaper . A pretty dismal night has become a very negative experience for me, and I 'm reminded yet again not to bother trying to feedback privately it 's not appreicated should have just written this review to begin with."
