"We decided to visit this restaurant while searching for a place to stop on our way back home to Cornwall during a busy bank holiday. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the view of the canal. The staff were all polite, but we were quite hungry. The menu on the table didn't excite us, but when we discovered the specials menu, we were pleased with the variety. We both ordered the belly pork with cider gravy, mash, and mixed vegetables, but opted for chips instead of mash. Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment. The portion of belly pork was large but fatty, pale, and undercooked in parts. The chips were not homemade and had a strong odor of old oil. The mixed vegetables seemed to be frozen, and the gravy was thin and lacked any hint of cider. We were let down, especially considering the price we paid. The staff didn't check back on our meal. I left most of my meal untouched. The bar staff mentioned that the kitchen was not operated by the pub, which made us question if the food was outsourced. Despite the convenient location and the option to stay in the car park, we won't be returning. We sat in the bar and had to endure listening to an elderly couple argue and curse for 40 minutes before driving away. Overall, our experience was unsatisfactory."

Traditional pub on the canal, great location. Food is great and really well priced. The barmen could probably do with going to charm school

Good range of beers and ciders with ample indoor and outdoor seating, the latter on a raised bank above the canal. Several menus including over 50s deal, vegetarian and on Wednesdays/Sundays a roast

Booked with a friend for Sunday Carvery. Lady greeted us and showed us to the table. Busy. Good selection of beer and cider. Carvery was ok nothing special in my opinion. Like to serve my own veg not get looked at when you ask for crispier roast potatoes... £10.50 for a medium plate View menu

This is our second visit to this restaurant after work, and we found the food to be good value for money. The female servers were very pleasant when bringing our food to the table, but the tall male bartender was quite rude and unpleasant. It may be time for him to find a new job as his attitude made us feel uncomfortable.

This traditional pub is fantastic. We sat at a table in the bar with our dog after a muddy walk from Knowle. The staff were welcoming, the prices for drinks and food were reasonable, and the food was excellent. The homemade ox tail soup was delicious and could easily be found in a top-notch restaurant, despite its humble presentation. The Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato baguette was labeled as a light bite, but it was so filling that I needed some help from my dog to finish it!

We drove here specially on a long trip south as convenient from motorway. Very disappointed with general appearance of the place. Looks very run down and in need of maintenance. The general feeling of our group was that they didn't want to stay for food as it wasn't what we expected so we just had a drink and left. The photos look nice but in reality it is very tired looking a d the outside furniture is in pretty poor state. Sorry but it isn't a very pretty place to eat or drink. View menu

The Blue Bell is located next to the Stratford Canal with safe and quiet mooring available. There is a good selection of beers. The cider is great! It is still cider (sweet, medium or dry) and 6% so up to strength but not over the top. Food was the best I've had for some time. A huge yorshire pudding with good mash and an enormous helping of slow-cooked beef brisket in tasty gravy. No room for pudding or I would have had the treacle sponge. We visited on a Thursday. I recommend booking a table because it gets busy. Definitely worth going out of your way to visit.

Came on Sunday 29th , asked for four adults two children’s , was told medium or small plates I haven’t been here for food before ,,but asked for 1medium , and 5 small which was way to much for to children under 7 , the meat was cut like door steps, the mash done in cheese , everything had melted butter on? Roasts were not cooked, hard inside as was the carrots , all the family left a lot on plates for £69 what a waste , also felt terrible asking for a carrot that turned out hard anyway , all in all won’t be back , maybe customers who rate here maybe never had a traditional roast before , as this was not the best
