"my friend and I went to capitulate for dinner to celebrate his birthday, as was capitula, we thought the only decent restaurant in blackheath. all the others seem to be pushing down quickly. we have been in the past often in the capitulas, and the food and services were good we had no appetizers and ordered only one main meal (black foam and black bell), because we were not huge hungry because we were eating a lot of birthday cakes earlier! we had a glass of wine and were offered a piece of bread. 35 minutes later we waited for our food. in this time no one came to ask if we were in order or offer us more drinks. I asked the manager if our food was ready. he said it would be 5 minutes without a statement of delay then disappeared 10 minutes later there was no sign of food or manager. That is why we decided to go because we lost interest in eating. we have to go and the manager came by. he told us the delay was due to a big party in the ground floor. this was not the case, there was a group of 8 people who had finished their meal for a long time. we were there earlier when it was much more business and the service was not so bad. while we waited, we saw a customer who had finished their meal, slipped £20 into the manager hand when he left. Perhaps the workers need bribe to provide good services? it is such a scandal, but another blackheath restaurant has become complicit and believes that it with the treatment of its customers without respect. I will vote for one with my feet and will not eat again in this restaurant. I will also leave everyone I don't know to go there"

"My boyfriend and I went to Chapters for dinner to celebrate his birthday as Chapters was, we thought, the only decent restaurant left in Blackheath. All the others seem to be sliding downhill rapidly. We have been to Chapters many times in the past and the food and service has been good We did not have a starter and ordered a main meal only (black bream and pork belly) as we weren't hugely hungry due to eating a lot of birthday cakes earlier! We had a glass of wine and were offered a piece a of bread. minutes later we were still waiting for our food. In that time no one came to ask if we were OK or to offer us more drinks. I asked the manager when our food might be ready. He said it would be minutes without offering any explanation of the delay then disappeared minutes later there was still no sign of the food or the manager. Therefore, we decided to leave as we had completely lost any interest in eating there anymore. We got up to leave and the manager came over. He told us the delay was due to a big party downstairs. This was not the case, there was a group of people who had long finished their meal. We have been there before when it was much busier and the service was not this bad. While were waiting we saw a customer who had finished their meal slipping into the managers hand as he was leaving. Maybe the staff require bribery to give good service It such a shame yet another Blackheath restaurant has become complacent and thinks they can get away with treating their customers without any respect. I for one will be voting with my feet and will not be eating in this restaurant again. I will also be letting everyone I know not to go there"

"For my main course, I had the Rump Steak, which was cooked rare as per the butcher's recommendation on the menu. This was truly the best steak I can recall. It had an incredible smokiness, as if it had been grilled over coal. I suspect they use a grill capable of reaching very high temperatures, providing a steak that's far superior to anything cooked at home. It was served with hearty chunky chips, a few sautéed green beans, some unsweetened arugula, and watercress, accompanied by a delicious herb butter. I didn't taste my companion's hake fillet dish, but it looked wonderful. It featured crispy skin and a lemon-butter emulsion with fresh mint, along with pan-roasted cucumber. For dessert, I ordered the dark chocolate fondant, which was beautifully executed with a gooey center. It was topped with a crispy mix of nuts and crushed pralines, adding a delightful crunch. My companion had the crème brûlée with fresh berries. The rich custard was sprinkled with some celestial flakes beneath the caramel top, which was caramelized to a rather dark shade. Personally, I prefer the complexity of a dark caramel that possesses a slightly bitter edge. We enjoyed a bottle of rosé Grenache, which was excellent and fruity. I also ordered a glass of the house red to accompany my steak. We took advantage of some discounts at the beginning, but at full price, our meal including service would have totaled £97—and it was worth every penny. Don’t forget to check out the stylish restrooms, complete with artistic cork designs that align with the overall theme."
