"We visited Springfield Inn on December 1st for the first time. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive, but the wait for the main meals was excessive, even though the pub was not over busy. The food was pricey for a pub, especially as most of the food was over-cooked when it did arrive. We had three portions of fish chips which most pubs can nail, but the fish had been in the frier too long and over-salted, the batter was rigid and fish dry. The mushy pea ramekins were half full, and the dish did not reflect the £16.95 it cost. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4"

"Usually a pleasant visit was, but ginger haired girl behind the bar was extremely rude and unpleasant. We had a request to the weekend contract offer, she was abrupt when she then began to call to someone in the middle of the conversation with us, then we got blinds from the girl after the decision to place our order with someone else. Usually visit a few times a month, but to be honest, this visit has to visit me in the future. Teach your employees Manieren! Other than that, food was very nice."

"Great choice! The food was well-cooked and beautifully presented. They were more than willing to make adjustments to the dish without any hesitation (I opted for the usual macaroni instead of the peppered version). The staff was very friendly as well."

"Nice airy cafe you can sit outside. I think it's possibly part of a chain. Has a good vegan breakfast. We couldn't find anywhere else for breakfast in portishead . Has a veggie and vegan separate menu."

"Meal Type: Lunch Price Range: £10–20 Food: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) Service: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) Atmosphere: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) Recommended Dish: Refill Soft Drinks Overall, my lunch experience was a bit underwhelming. The food was decent, but not exceptional, earning a middle-of-the-road rating. Unfortunately, the service was lacking, which detracted from the overall experience. The atmosphere was also rather uninspiring, making it feel less inviting. However, one highlight was the refillable soft drinks, which I would recommend trying."

"We went here for dinner on our first night in Edinburgh because of the story of the dog Bobby. It was wonderful to see the statue and learn more about it, but the pub itself was a bit of a disappointment. The chef was finishing early so we were brought our starter and mains at the same time, and no opportunity to order a dessert. This was 8pm on a Friday night, so would have expected to be able to eat eithout the rush at that time. The staff were very friendly, but the service was quite slow. The food was okay, but nothing too special and the atmosphere was a bit dead. There are other better places to try scottish classics in the city."

"Absolutely amazing! I went with my boyfriend on Friday night for a lovely meal. He recently moved to the area and we had been told by many locals it was the place to go when in the area. It was more than I expected, the service and A le Carte menu surpassed our expectations. On arrival we didn't reserve an area) we was greeted with warm smiles by all the waiters and staff, who treated us like we were the only people in the restaurant. Despite having a full house we were given a great table and it wasn't just the staff who were smiling, all those who had come in to dine were too. It was like someone had injected them with happy juice. When we tasted the food we soon understood why....read more"

"We were in Leeds celebrating our Son 's Graduation. His girlfriend had also Graduated that same week so we wanted to take them somewhere to celebrate. I chose the Fire Lake as we hadn 't been there before and it appeared to have some good reviews. I sent a message with the booking asking if it was possible to do something special celebrating two graduations. I did not receive a response prior to arriving so my husband discreetly mentioned it to the waitress. We had also purchased a Groupon deal 2 courses for 4 people including a glass of wine each. The waitress asked us if we wanted white or red wine, we asked if we could have a couple of glasses of rose instead, she disappeared and came back saying that they only have white or red with this deal! The white wine was almost yellow and did not taste good. The menu was somewhat limited and over priced. £12 for 3 scallops, £7.95 for bread with basil spread, tomatoes and mozzarella (which I assumed would be warm but was just an open sandwich). My Son ordered the crochets which were ok and his girlfriend ordered the potted pig pate which tasted like cinnamon! I was beginning to regret booking this restaurant but thankful for buying a Groupon deal. For main course I ordered rainbow trout with pea creme fraiche broth, half a gem lettuce and the handcut chips, everyone else ordered chicken or steak with an upgrade to dirty chips with jalapeños. When they arrived with a different waitress, I mentioned that we were missing the portion of handcut chips I had ordered, I was told that the chips only came with the steak and chicken not the fish dishes which wasn 't mentioned at the time of ordering. She apologised and promptly brought over the chips which were the best part of the meal. We then had a bottle of prosecco and ordered desserts and still hadn 't had a response regarding the 'something special ' to mark the occasion. Eventually we were offered a cocktail each which we didn 't all have due to being full. Disappointing"

"The food was of excellent quality, the staff was friendly, and it was welcoming to dogs. While it wasn't the cheapest option, we found the prices to be reasonable for the value we received, and we had a great time during our visit. We appreciated the dog treats available at the bar, and the staff kindly provided a bowl of water for our thirsty pup. Overall, I would rate the food a 5, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 4."

"I made a reservation at the restaurant/pub through OpenTable, and received confirmation. Everything seemed fine. However, a few hours later, I received a call from The Crown saying they were fully booked and could not honor my reservation. I'm not sure where the issue lies, but my experience with The Crown through OpenTable was extremely disappointing. I would recommend booking directly with the restaurant in the future, although this shouldn't have been necessary."

"This is a great pub and food is normally very good, however we went there for a Sunday Roast and we were very disappointed, we chose pork with crackling, the crackling was totally inedible as it was as tough as shoe leather and the waiter did also agree that he would have a word with the chef and the potatoes were under cooked with black bits in. It was very disappointing."

"I had minestrone soup and penne bolognese. Felt authentic but relatively tasteless, had to take quite a lot of pepper and salt and parmesan cheese. I would have liked a little more intense tomato flavor and more herbs. Good bread for the soup. The pasta was overcooked and the tomato sauce a little burnt but very nicely presented. Still bottled water was very good (Acqua Panna Tuscany) The Esperanto macchiato afterwards had a lot of foam, big as a lungo but good and strong. Nice waitress but the restaurant looked a bit like a school canteen."

"Incredibly good, last day before lockdown, all the health and safety measures were taken and delivered by staff as it should be, locals as always, really friendly and chatting to us, staff polite and friendly, you really can't ask for more than this when you going to a small local village pub what is well refurbished nice and cosy. Thanks for made us feel welcome in your place. It's not easy when English is not your first language, but people make you feel like you're at home. Guys waiting to see you soon, and thanks for everything."

"We had been to this pub some months ago to attend a Wake, of which it was good. We were again in the area after a Funeral and wanted a light bite. The pub offers good parking although smashed glass in the car parking area. Seating inside or out. We choose indoors. The menu had a good variety of choice. However after placing an order of a Small Fish and Chips around 6.50, and a starter with Haddock and Cheese, the waitress returned to our table to inform us there was no haddock. The order was replaced with a Waldorf Salad, at 8.50. Two pieces of chicken, no celery was present and not even half a walnut. Great sauce over lettuce though! The walnut pieces were the size of pin heads. I pointed this out to the waitress as I could not see any, nor could I recognize the pieces of walnut they could have pine pine nuts, and when we came to pay, I mentioned the lack of celery and walnuts again, as the message had not been given to other staff. Therefore value for money: regards Salad= poor Service: average, staff were not concerned about customers, nor did we feel looked after. A disappointing visit. It was a Thursday and quiet around 8pm"

"The whole evening felt chaotic and poorly organised. Several things on the menu were not available. We waited a very long time for our food and drinks. A glass of wine, when it finally came, was not the wine ordered (with no apology). The food was horrible. Salmon hideously overcooked and solid in parts, chewy in others. Bao bun defrosted in the microwave, burger overcooked, duck like old boots. Other bun left in the microwave too long and turned to rock. Wondering if there was a chef in the kitchen at all on this evening. Waitresses doing their best but we were extremely unimpressed."

"It's been the Hit Miss Inn again for us, I'm afraid! We stopped off on the way back from MK for lunch on a Tuesday. Little welcome on arrival, the two guys serving seemed a bit lackadaisical to us. We'd like to eat....where can we sit...it was us asking all the questions! Anyway, we sat in a quiet area, away from the work going on at the front of the pub. Was there table service? No...it appeared not. So, I went to the bar and ordered. When the food came my wife liked her lasagna and my pie was OK. We discussed over our food how service can differ so much at a pub...my wife came here recently with a friend and had good service. Obviously not this time. In the end we went for 4-stars but if this second visit was a one-off it would have been 3. Surprising, to be honest! Disappointing too!"

"We visited the restaurant for the first time for my partner's birthday meal, and we absolutely loved it. Our son, who is usually quite fussy, really enjoyed his burger and was the first to finish! My steak was cooked to perfection, and the meat juices were simply amazing. If only Miller & Carter served a few slices of crusty bread to soak up those delicious juices, I would have been exceptionally happy! I must admit, I didn't quite understand the point of the wedge of salad, and to be honest, I could have done without that. Our waiter was very attentive, though I regret that I can't remember his name."
