"On a wet and windy Saturday morning four of us were in need of hearty breakfast. We weren't disappointed. Virtually every eatery in Portree was closed for some reason. As we trudged around town through the wind and rain, the unmistakable smell of fried bacon filled our nostrils. We followed our noses and were led to The Caledonian Cafe. Not long after sitting at a table, we were warmly greeted by one of the staff. She took our order large quantities of fried food, tea and Irn Bru. The drinks soon arrived, followed by our fried breakfasts. Now, I do like a fried breakfast, and this one was exceptional. All of the food arrived without any grease on the plate. The fried egg was perfect slightly frilly and crispy around the edges with a lovely runny yolk. I'd never had a tattie scone or a Lorne sausage before both were delicious. We left the cafe more than satisfied with full bellies and smiles on our faces.... despite the driving rain!"

Very busy cafe at the heart of Portree town. They have quite a number of options to choose from, it is a bit pricey buy taste was good. The roasted cauliflower with chickpeas and couscous was a good selection. View menu

AMAZING FOOD!!! best we’ve had so far in all our roadtrip. The curly fries are a must!!!!! we tried the pulled pork burger and halloumi wrap and both were exceptional, the service was also super nice and fast. Loved it!!!!

The food is simple but good Two dishes on the menu on the slate on the wall Furthermore, the welcome was very friendly and we had a good time there. Avoid the port restaurants, unless you want to take photos for Instagram, and come take a look here

We found this cafe by good luck, or rather great luck on a recent visit to Portree. The Cafe is very clean and the turn over was very fast .We only had to wait a couple of minutes to have a table cleared and cleaned for us. The service was fantastic and everyone was very attentive. The food was really good, well cooked and tasty. We had the breakfast and there was plenty of it! Highly recommend this cafe for everything. View menu

I’m from the states visiting Scotland with my mother, who has been vegetarian for over 30 years. Out of respect for her I got the mushroom po’ boy, one of the vegetarian options. I’m not usually a fan of fake meat but this was a pleasant surprise. It was without a doubt the best vegetarian meal I’ve ever had. The mushrooms were incredible, and not too far off from real meat, maybe even better, and the crinkle cut fries were amazing. I left few crumbs.

This place had the dinner type food that I have been looking for in Scotland. I had the Smashburger and it was genuinely the best burger I’ve had while traveling. I often find that other places dont do much with their seasoning, cooking, toppings, and type of bun. However this place does. The fries were ridiculously good. While in Scotland, I have had to dunk my fries in ketchup because a lot of places dont season them with enough salt or they dont fry them correctly. The only downside of this place was that it was small and so seating filled up quickly. Thankfully I only waited about two minutes. I’m glad I did too because it was amazing food.
