"I purchased a groupon voucher. First time I tried to use it I booked a table for two over the phone. No problem they booked me in for the specified time. But when I said I had a groupon voucher I was told I could only use it on a quiet night, not the night which I had already booked for. Ok. So I rebooked for a 'quiet night '. When we arrived it was empty. We were the only people there. We ordered drinks and food. Food was mediocre. Quality rather than quantity, not what I would expect from an Indian restaurant. I would compare it to Iceland frozen curry. We didn 't complain but decided we wouldn 't bother with dessert. The Manager knew we were using a groupon voucher before we ordered however when we wanted to pay and I showed him the photo of the groupon voucher on my phone complete with barcode, Security code and groupon code he scrutinised every detail on it. He said there was no date on it and said to me that people try to use vouchers which are out of date. I then had to point out to him the valid date on it. Then he said we should have printed it out. Then he messed about trying to take a photo of it with his own phone. Then he said I had to give him my phone number in case there was a 'problem ' with the voucher. It was really very awkward. Almost as though he just didn 't want to redeem it. I have used groupon before and I know how to use the groupon voucher code and merchants have never had a problem taking the details off my phone before. I had already read several reviews about the spice centre bad customer service but I had decided to purchase the groupon voucher anyway. I really wished I hadn 't. I won 't go again and will warn everyone I know not to waste their time or money on the Spice centre."

"Attended a pre wedding party yesterday evening on August hosted by the Nandas (please check with the host and don’t deny the fact that this party ever happened or I did not attend like you do in response to your other reviews). To start with, horribly slow starter service. For a table service one would expect either the food to be replenished quickly or at least bought out when asked. Here you get a response, “wait, it’s being cooked.” No please, no sorry, in short, no manners. Here’s the real problem though. A restaurant of this size says, we have run out of Chicken Nuggets for kids. Who doesn’t have spare nuggets in the kitchen? And if not, should you not offer more chips instead? Keeping kids hungry is just not done. The mains were just okay quality/quantity wise but nowhere near their restaurant food. We have been to the restaurant many times and hence our expectations were a bit high, probably different chefs for restaurant and parties or whatever. But no complaints in general on mains and desserts. The final nail in the coffin. After dancing, I go to the bar asking for WATER. The very NICE lady says, “we don’t have any water jugs back here.” I ask for TAP WATER instead. She goes, “We don’t have any glasses.” I can clearly see at least crates of nice clean glasses behind the bar. Tired and really thirsty, I go to the other side near the kitchen end asking a waiter for water. Her response is even more alarming. NO WATER IN THE KITCHEN. Even my year old would not buy this answer. I really demand an explanation on the reason for not providing the most basic necessity to your guests. It was at night and did not want to raise it back then at the venue but without any explanation to this, I doubt anyone reading this review will ever want to host a party with Venue unless THE HOSTS ARE READY TO TAKE ABOUT BOTTLES OF LITRE WATER WITH THEM. In a nutshell, Venue did all they could to ruin the evening for the lovely couple. For anyone thinking to host an event here in the future, I am more than happy to come forward and share my experience in more details. YES, there was more than this but not trivial."

"To my surprise, many restaurants are closed on Sunday evening in London. Every time I looked up a vegan restaurant on Happy Cow, it turned out it was closed. Since it was late and I was hungry, I had no other option than to select a vegetarian restaurant close by. 1947 Restaurant and Bar is both an Indian and Italian restaurant. The entire menu is vegetarian, however only around 20% is vegan. Many more meals can be made vegan, but so many of them had cheese listed as an ingredient that I didn 't want to run the risk. What if there 's an error in communication between the waitress and the kitchen? Or what if the chef accidentally adds cheese out of habit? I had lots of time to make up my mind, because even though the restaurant was very quiet it took a long time until the waitress came to take my order. I selected vegan biryani because I like biryani and because I 've tried it at so many restaurants that it 's easy to compare. It took a long time for the biryani to be prepared, but then it was served beautifully and smelled divine (as it should be). However, compared to other restaurants it 's a rather simple biryani. It has only one kind of rice (it is often served with both white and yellow rice) and only a few vegetables. There was no tofu, mushroom, potato, no nuts or any protein source. Also, the yoghurt was missing (which is used to extinguish the fire caused by the spices). The portion was generous and the taste was good. Although it was mentioned on the menu, 1947 Restaurant and Bar adds a 12.5% service tax. Why don 't restaurants just increase all prices on the menu instead of giving the customers a nasty surprise at the end?"
