"I can find working in the city a bit souless at times, especially when it comes to restaurants. There are a couple of great ones (for example City Social, Duck and Waffle and Goodmans) but they are definitely on the treat yo’self list, unless work is paying! I personally think there is a lack of interesting places to venture to for lunch. That’s why I’m happy I have L’Anima Cafe just within reach of my office. Being based at Bank it’s a good 15 minute walk, but oh so worth it. L’Anima Cafe is the sister to the award winning L’Anima just around the corner. This is a more informal setting with all day dining and great for after-work drinks. There’s also a deli for food-to-go. I’ve eaten here only twice but I hope I make many more visits. On my first visit I had a terrific lamb ragu: a rich, deep and salty ragu over parpadelle. I have thought about it many times since! This time we shared a couple of starters: an artichoke, asparagus and anchovy salad with pecorino shavings and a simple tomato, basil and garlic bruschetta. The salad was light and fresh with the moorish saltiness from the anchovy, a really wonderful dish. The tomatoes were seasoned perfectly on the bruschetta, however a couple of pieces came out a bit burnt as you can see, so we ended up eating the tomatoes but leaving the bread on those pieces. There was a veal ragu on the menu this time which I did contemplate ordering but thought I should change it up a little. There were some great fish dishes but in the end I ordered the spaghetti alle vongole: clams with garlic, chilli, parsley and white wine. This is one of my favourite pasta dishes and it did not disappoint! The al dente spaghetti with the soft salty clams and a slight kick from the chilli was wonderful. The parsley in there keeping it nice and fresh. Oh, I wish I was eating a plate of it now! Another pasta dish was also ordered, the fettuccine primavera. This entailed saffron, broad beans, peas asparagus and courgette flower. I had a taste of this too and it tasted garden-fresh, if that makes sense, really clean and light. A lovely dish. My other colleague wanted to order something different to us; the daily special of sole was decided upon. It was humungous! It came served with slices of crisp potatoes and cherry tomatoes. Oh my god, the flavour in the fish was incredible and so juicy too. We struggled to finish it all. All in all a great meal. Just two small points, the staff can be a little slow and also, last time we ordered the broccoli pizza and it was pretty bland. So I would avoid their pizzas. But everything I’ve ever ordered has been very good and rather beautiful too. It is very much full of suits mid-week but I imagine there is a different vibe in the evening and at weekends as it pretty much on the boarder between the city and Shoreditch (it’s right by the Queen of Hoxton). One day soon I hope to try L’Anima next door. But in the mean time this is the place to go for great Italian food!"

"I attended dinner here with my family on Mother’s Day. We had a very nice meal and it was extremely enjoyable. The staff were really nice and polite. I would recommend going here. The staff: As I mentioned before, the staff were very polite. They were properly briefed on the menu and any special dishes that were on the menu that day. The food was very nice and well presented. It was also warm; which made it very pleasant and even more enjoyable. I had roast beef and the meat was perfectly cooked. The rest of the meal was nice too. If you go, I recommend the salt and pepper squid as a starter because it was incredibly tasty. The food: The food was delectable. There was a variety of options on the menu as well as a decent amount of options on the children’s menu. I really do recommend coming here. The cleanliness and decor: I am pleased to say that the cleanliness of the Rose and Crown was perfect. The tables were wiped down immediately after people left and were given a thorough cleaning. The rest of the restaurant was extremely clean too. The decor inside and outside was extremely nice. It really welcomes you inside. 1010. The service: The service was really quick. You are served very soon after you walk in. They remembered everything we ordered and brought it out on good time. The Beer Garden: The beer garden was very nice in summer and had a few tables where you could sit and have a drink. However, there was no entertainment for children and considering they had a decent sized outdoor area, it was disappointing that this was not included. When we went recently, the Beer Garden was closed due to the weather. This meant there was even less space to play despite the massive car park that they could have used part of to build a play area; even if it was just a small one. To conclude, I believe you should visit here as it was overall a very enjoyable experience and I would go again."

"On Wednesday my partner surprised me with a meal here and I can honestly say it is one of the best Italian restaurants that I have ever been too! Every single person from the front of house ladies, manager, bartender and waiters was lovely! We were impressed by their professionalism and the way they built a rapport with us. Our main waiter was Alisso, he was extremely attentive to our needs and had a brilliant customer service manner. He recommended dishes, regularly topped up our glasses and made sure we enjoyed every part of our meal and service. Me and partner both ordered bread and the fried squid, prawn and courgette starter . The seafood was fried to perfection! juicy yet crispy. The selection of bread was warm and came with a selection of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For our mains I had the salt baked seabass as recommended by Alisso and I can honestly say that It was amazing. The fish came with a server who carefully took the fish out of the salt, de skinned boned the fish. It truly was spectacular and the seabass was so succulent that it melted in my mouth. My partner had the harissa grilled chicken which was moist and juicy with nice mellow spicy kick. My partner didn 't have a dessert but I had the chocolate fondant. Once again, I could not fault the tastiness and presentation of the food. To top of our evening, my partner picked the restaurant as David Luiz and Willian own the restaurant, my partner is a die hard Arsenal fan. We actually met one of them and my partner managed to get a picture with Willian which made his night! All all this restaurant is amazing, from the location in Mayfair, the interior, ambience, staff and food. I have already recommended this restaurant to my friends, family and the consultants that I work with and I will continue to do so!"
