"There is ample indoor and outdoor seating available at this restaurant situated at Chatham dockside, offering a delightful view of the docks. I opted for a milkshake made with soya milk and chocolate sorbet, which was delicious and not too sugary. I would have liked it to be slightly thicker and made with vegan ice cream. I am looking forward to trying one of the desserts from their new vegan menu on my next visit."

"I brought my girlfriend to this restaurant for Valentine's Day. We had a two-for-one deal on the main course, but the voucher we had stated it could not be used on Christmas or New Year's dinner. Despite presenting the voucher upon arrival, we were informed that they had emailed us about the voucher (which they did not), and that it could not be used for Valentine's Day. When we explained the situation to the person at the front desk, they insisted the voucher was only for Christmas or New Year events and could not be used. Normally, I would have left and gone elsewhere, but since it was Valentine's Day, I wanted to treat my girlfriend and most other places were fully booked. We decided to stay and dine, although we were not in the best mood. The food itself was excellent, although I'm not sure it was worth the £30 per person."

"Newcastle Village Hotel, you can’t REALLY expect to deliver a shoddy cash-grabbing experience like the party of 09/12/2017 and not be called out on it. £30.00 for a turkey dinner? Maybe, for a quality Norfolk bird with ALL the trimmings cooked to perfection; absolutely NOT for this spew. In fact the difference between what it said on the menu and what was served up is so brazen that one can almost admire the cheek of it. The “Proscuitto Wrapped Turkey Breast” was not wrapped in ANYTHING: it was just cheap-tasting turkey breast, like cash and carry stuff. Likewise the “pigs in blankets” HAD NO BLANKETS: They were just cocktail sausages, and not quality ones but the type that contain trotters, ears and lips. The stuffing made Paxo taste like the work of a culinary master by comparison, and the only things I’ve EVER tasted that were soggier than the roast potatoes were the roast parsnips in the next tray along. I can’t comment on the sprouts or carrots as I don’t like either: it would have been nice to have had a greater choice. When the hotel emailed us the menu weeks earlier it asked about any dietary needs, so we advised that one of our party had a gluten intolerance. If he expected a bespoke meal he was sadly mistaken: on the night he was just told not to eat the sausages or the stuffing. Two and a half hours later, following complaints, the man who seemed to be in charge offered to knock up some gluten-free pasta. It was way too late by then. To be fair this has been my experience of Christmas parties over the years: the food is invariably overpriced and substandard yet enough people are persuaded to cough up in advance to make them highly lucrative ventures. It’s a cynical business, and the Village Hotel is down there with the worst of them. Oh yeah, and my cracker contained this tiny little spinning top."

"Well what a shame writing this review as hubby drives us home felt compelled to write this review whilst the experinece is still annoying us! Restuarant only had 2 other couples dining , yet we were neglected by the staff i...wiped the table before our dinner came as it was dirty the staff were unfamiliar with the menu (even though there is very little on it) i found the restaurant manager to order dessert and sat for nearly 20 mins with our main dishes still on the table whilst 2 of the staff stood having a chat- so we moved the dishes oursieves to the next table. The dessert arrived (fudge cake) we were not asked if we wanted it hot or cold and we wrongly assumed it would be warm but it was straight out of the fridge. That couldve been forgiven if the service was good- but it was awful we have never been to a restaurant and not left a tip except for this time it wasnt at all deserved. Although there was a highlight- during the long delays in the lazy service (in the empty restaurant We had the pictures below to entertain us ...... shame i didnt take a pic of the other lovely pictures adorning the walls an elephant with its trunk up the backside of another... mmmm makes me feel like going back there to dine....!!!!"

"DisgustEd and utter disappointment in the way my party of four were treated . I had booked a table for 4 people at midday as a treat for my parents before going to Strickly come dancing today. when we arrived there was a board closing of the restaurant and so we went into the bar where we approached and told the restaurant was going to be full with an oil company function and waved away to find ourselves a table in the bar. My parents are elderly and can not manage up to the high tables so we eventually found a round table for the four of us to sit. The table and chairs were dirty and covered with food. I had to go and find someone to come and clean the table and chairs. We chose our food and after a while went to the bar to see if someone was going to serve us to discover we had to order at the bar. The final straw was when we tried to order they didn’t have what we would like for our meal. There was no explanation or apologies for not having a table for us in the restaurant, for the table and chairs being dirty, no service or explanation that we had to order our food at the bar and no apology for not having what we would like to order for our meal. We collected our jackets and left. We had a lovely meal with great service elsewhere. Totally appalled at the lack of customer service and when speaking to others it would appear we are not the only ones."

"We came to Village Hotel pub and grill to watch a football match and have some food. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Service was quick even though it was super busy! There are multiple big screens showing sports, so wherever you're sitting, you get a good view, even when busy. The food was reasonably priced and huge portions. Overall, we really enjoyed our evening out here! Food drinks: The food at the grill was a decent price for the size of the portions. We had the gourmet burger and it was huge, but really tasty. You can add starters or dessert to your meal for £6, and again one starter was a big enough size for us to share. The cocktails were really nice here too! Service was quick and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Service: 4 Location: 4"

"I have visited Herschel Weapons 4-5 times, and I can confidently say that it is the friendliest place I have ever been to. This quirky pub is equally welcoming to locals and visitors, making it a popular spot for those away from home. I enjoy the decor of the walls adorned with pictures of the past and present patrons of the pub. A visit to the restroom is a treat with its old paper cuts and comics. However, the highlight of the pub is undoubtedly the bartender. Their service is fantastic and they serve the best pint of Guinness I have ever had. Kudos to Tom and his team. We will definitely be returning soon."

"The Sunday lunch menu has been revamped with more options and remains a great value for money. The dessert selection has been improved, and the staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. The service was excellent, although the noise level in the restaurant may be a bit loud. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

"I think the staff here don’t get enough credit for the amazing job they do. You won’t find staff like this in any other Starbucks. Nick in particular is so patient and so kind and so knowledgeable. He thinks nothing of helping anybody and is always so professional. On one single day I saw him tending to a disabled customer repeatedly, including helping the customer sit down safely (the customer has visual difficulties), helping explain which sandwiches were available (remembering the customers favourites) and generally tending to them whilst also serving others. On that same shift a customer came in half an hour after closing asking for a ‘green drink that looks like pondwater’. The customer questioned the closing time and hovered around with no regard for the fact he had said the place was closed but he had offered to make anything he could with the equipment still turned on. Fifteen minutes later as we left he was still helping this customer figure out what she wanted, well beyond closing time when he really didn’t have to. He endlessly goes above and beyond and he’s never remotely unattentive. It’s worth mentioning Rob as well who is always cheerful, chatty and working hard. It’s just a lovely Starbucks and somehow the drinks always taste better than elsewhere too. Maybe it’s the kindness of the staff I don’t know but, it’s quite the hidden treasure in chillwell."

"I was in Reading to view an office building. It was a warm day so i popped in to the bearby Creams in Reading on my way to the car park. Ive visited many Creams in towns all over the South East and this one has the same expensive design and big store size. Sadly this one also had the rudest most surly inefficient staff ive ever come across. As an employer myself of some 40 plus staff I wonder how this business will survive with such staff. I wemt to order as per attached receipt) cookie dough...immediately the man behind the counter was ignoring me talking with his friend behind me....than arrogantly with no hello no eye contact he asked me for my order....I told him in clear concise terms triple treat cookie dough for table 8 eating in again no eye vontact it didnt seem to be registering and i was starting yo feel unease. I repeated and he took the money and i went to sit at table 8. 15 minutes went by and a lady shouted out from far away are you takeaway i said no eating in . Another 10 monutes later she stomped over and asked me again takeway i said ive already told you eating in. She asked me what i ordered i told her and this ignorant sour faced lady informed me id asked for a takeaway. In the background i could see behind her the same surly tall slim young man whod tajen my order so nonchalantly....i felt i was veing intimidated so i said to the lady i didnt order a takeaway youve made a mistaje and i dont appreciate your rude bolshy way. I left not wanting a scene In my 25 minute wait for nothing i noted there are more staff than customers . One of them had his bare arm in a machine to swirl water. I left without a refund as i wasnt offered one. Horrible experience horrid staff i wont be visiting creams in reading ever again."

"we have booked for a night as a new year contract as we had bought the £50 voucher for £25. the restaurant was busy when we arrived, but were immediately shown on our table. the waiter was very nice, although we had to hunt him for a drink, as we had waited for over 10 minutes. we ordered drinks and eat at the same time as we were ready to order. the food arrived in good time and I must say we were very impressed by eating it was nice and we both enjoy our meal very much. the atmosphere was not what they would expect from a hotel. there was a series of clientels that were constantly in and out of the fire exit, which was very annoying as it was very cold when they left the door open to allow them to enter through this door, which led to us having to sit because it was so cold. when we left, we realized why they came in and out of the fire exit, as they were 10 or more cars on the parking lot that used the hotel toilets, bar and electricity to load there telephones etc. not what I expected in the village hotel. was rather disappointed than the bar, food and service was excellent, but the client unfortunately let it down"

"Starbucks is Starbucks, known for great coffee. However, what sets this particular location apart is the exceptional staff. Today, I was served by Jon, who was incredibly genuine and lovely. His exceptional service prompted me to write this review. Every visit to this Starbucks in the Village is consistently pleasant, with the staff being unique and quirky in a positive way. They truly care about ensuring you have a good time without being overly intrusive. I have also been served by a woman who provided outstanding service, but today it was Jon who truly stood out. I hope their exceptional service receives the recognition it deserves. Thank you!"

"Unfortunately, my experience at the restaurant was quite disappointing. The chef's table was missing several items that were never replenished, such as prawn cocktails and chocolate muffins. We waited around 25 minutes for our main courses after finishing what few starters were available. I had to ask two different staff members for plates for the starters, which was frustrating. The room was also packed with people shouting while watching the rugby, which I understand, but it wasn't the kind of environment I wanted to be in while dining with children; it felt quite overwhelming. I've enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but I’ve never visited during a major sporting event before. Overall, it was a frustrating experience for a subpar meal. I've always recommended this place to friends and colleagues, but I feel differently now."

"Sadly the whole experience was disappointing , the chefs table was missing quiet a few items that were not replenished no prawn cocktails and no chocolate muffins to mention only 2 lines we waited about 25 minutes for the mains after finishing what starters were available . I had to ask 2 different members of staff for plates for the starters and the room was packed with people shouting as they watched the rugby which is fair enough but not the environment you want to be eating food with children feeling quite threatened by all the shouting . Have previously enjoyed the whole experience but have never been there when a major sporting event was on . Not a great time with a lot of hassle to get a below average dining experience. Have always told friends and colleges how good the village is but feel somewhat different now ."

"An extremely overpriced menu. Three of us went for Sunday lunch at £15 for 3 courses. The starters were self serve and sat on the side... some looked dried up and inedible. Nothing was labelled so you had to guess what everything was. Most were salad in a small jar or compote or smoothie?? We had to ask for fresh bread and more soup, which was in a thermos jug. The main course was mediocre. And there wasn't any choice for dessert. It was a compote or muffin or Danish pastry??? Which had all been sat on the side with the starters. The service was awful. No cutlery laid on the table, even though we had booked and reserved. We had to wait for long periods to have our plates removed and we had to ask to have our mains taken away after about half an hour of just sitting there. We will not be returning!!! Terrible."

"I visited pub and grill bar in other village hotels, but that was my first visit. to say I was disappointed, is an understatement. I booked well in advance for table. when I arrived, no table was booked, even if one of the employees brought my reservation on his tablet and I had previously confirmed my reservation. I was told to find one table and sit there. as they want, it was very busy because of football and rugby. After we wait for table to become available, we have settled. After waiting for someone to come to us (what they did not) I went to cash and explained that we included our meal in our stay and which menu we could use. I was told that they always used and one was pointed to me. we choose our eating and patiently waited at the bar for 15 minutes, just to say that we had the wrong menu it was a set menu from which we had to choose. I went back to my party of 6 and asked her to choose again. back to the bar for another 15 minutes waiting and ordered our food. after a 35-minute waiting period, our starters came out. After we had waited five minutes for my starter who was humous, we ate. our main meal began minus the cheese on our burgers, for which we paid extra. my daughter waited for her 10 minutes after we got ours. when we ask where her meal was, we were told that we were sorry we forgot to get out. when she got her steak, they had forgotten the pfeffer sauce. ! after completing our main course 2 of my party had paid for dessert, it was obvious to wait after another 20-minute, it was not appearing. until now it was 10.45 we had our table for 8 o'clock booked. when I approached a worker, no apology or explanation was offered about the series of failures. we had booked a night to meet the family. to celebrate the 30th birthday of my daughter. that has proved to be a sniff. I'm sure they can understand why my party of 6 was so disappointed."

"This was miss sold to me by Open Table. The food is a set menu with little choice. The chicken skewers was chewy and the Sunday lunch plastic. It is a far cry from the way it used to be but someone has to pay for the refurb. Unfortunately, there was 3 couples and it still took 2 hours to get food. Go to Ashton Moss or the Harvester next door. You get good quality food, descent options portions for half the price. Village, I’m disappointed to say the least !"

"I’m rather snobby when it comes to pizza, I only consume pizza that is of outstanding Italian restaurant quality. I will never order it when I am of sound state of mind. Being the 20 year old I am however means I engage in “binge drinking” and clubbing. This often leaves me being in a state of mind that is not sound given the impacts of alcohol. I am prone to being in desperation for food when I conclude these nights of drinking and debauchery, anything I can consume that is non toxic is holy like the bread given out by Jesus at the last supper. I find myself in the company of someone I do not know, in a place I am unfamiliar with. Takeout pizza is often the solution to this dilemma and with great shame I have resorted many times to ordering subpar pizza. I digress. I ordered my first pizza from this establishment last night. I was tired, hungry and depressed. I certainly was in no hurry to do anything productive such as cook myself dinner. Alas, the hunger I could take no more and at the point of starvation I was given no choice but to turn to takeout. Pizza was my only option given that the only thing I despise more than bad pizza is Chinese takeaway. I don’t even order that when drunk. Begrudgingly I searched for pizza, I realised I was stuck with Dominos or Papa Johns. The shame in ordering pizza this time was greater than ever before as I didn’t have the excuse of being drunk and being somewhere I didn’t know. It felt like an assault on my sense of taste, given that I insist on only the highest quality pizza as previously mentioned. It only added to my sadness, but my hunger was too great. By the grace of god I found a third option that gave me another local option. Dodo pizza. Perchance I give it an opportunity. After all it could not be any worse than Dominos and Papa Johns. I have been writing this for an ungodly amount of time now, so I hope given my utter hate for takeaway pizza it helps emphasise how pleased I was with my experience. I shall get to the point. My two margherita pizzas arrived, one thin crust and one normal (bogof for your first order on THEIR app , not just eat, which is the reason for two). It came within an incredibly short time, I hope that doesn’t mean you don’t get much business as you deserve more than other places. I opened the and my eyes noticeably widened in surprise at how good it looked in comparison to other chains. I tried both pizzas, the crust and thickness were good on both. Not the standard of restaurant pizza but incredibly good given it is takeaway. It was light and not too heavy like you’d usually expect. The sauce was flavourful and has a nice sharpness to it. Cheese was well distributed, not too thick and rubbery. They make a pizza that I don’t have to feel ashamed of ordering sober. I cba writing a decent closing to this now but know it’s better than other chains and I would recommend it to anyone after a takeaway"
