"DisgustEd and utter disappointment in the way my party of four were treated . I had booked a table for 4 people at midday as a treat for my parents before going to Strickly come dancing today. when we arrived there was a board closing of the restaurant and so we went into the bar where we approached and told the restaurant was going to be full with an oil company function and waved away to find ourselves a table in the bar. My parents are elderly and can not manage up to the high tables so we eventually found a round table for the four of us to sit. The table and chairs were dirty and covered with food. I had to go and find someone to come and clean the table and chairs. We chose our food and after a while went to the bar to see if someone was going to serve us to discover we had to order at the bar. The final straw was when we tried to order they didn’t have what we would like for our meal. There was no explanation or apologies for not having a table for us in the restaurant, for the table and chairs being dirty, no service or explanation that we had to order our food at the bar and no apology for not having what we would like to order for our meal. We collected our jackets and left. We had a lovely meal with great service elsewhere. Totally appalled at the lack of customer service and when speaking to others it would appear we are not the only ones."

The service was very poor, and the menu left much to be desired. I was never given a menu for drinks or appetizers. I also had trouble finding anyone to assist me with the bill, so I ended up having to wait. Overall, it was a lackluster experience.

We do like it here, but didn’t quite reach standards of previous dining. Staff were a bit muddled at times. Third time lucky with drinks after the first 2 choices were not available. Food was not really hot enough and beef disappointing. Daughter enjoyed her turkey. Will try again sometime but probably not for Sunday lunch.

I took my mum for her 65th birthday and it was absolutely lovely. There is lots of choice for all inclusive starters and desserts which are just the right size. The food was exceptional and the service was very attentive. I had a buy one get one free voucher but would have been worth the full price and we will definitely be back. View menu

I’ve been to The Village for their Sunday carvery in many previous occasions however I will not be back, we had to wait an hour for our food, which arrived cold and the vegetables were what can only be described as hard as rocks! When asked if we had enjoyed our meal our server told us that there had been many complaints that day! Sums it up really!!! The staff seemed completely oblivious to what was going on around them, not their fault but obviously due to a lack of management presence and training! The pub and grill is severely under-staffed, resulting in extremely slow service. We waited 50 minutes for our main courses, and both orders were incorrect. They took the dishes back to correct the mistakes, but they were wrong again upon return. My partner ordered a chicken dish that was supposed to come with two chicken breasts, but it only had one. We then waited an additional 10 minutes for that to be resolved.
