"We had pre-booked a table for 6 people to have lunch at 2:15pm. We arrived on time and were shown to the table, which had only been set for 4 people which meant we had to pull a further 2 chairs up to the table, and had to request a wine list. We ordered a round of drinks for the table which took c. 15 minutes to arrive. We were waiting a considerable amount of time for a food menu. Eventually we called a waiter over to order some food and were told that the kitchen we no longer serving, despite having booked a table for lunch and not being warned of the kitchen closing time. The staff told us to be quick in ordering however took a further 10 minutes to come and take the order. The food eventually came and the waitress didn 't even put the food at the correct place, she merely put them on the table for us to distribute accordingly. When the bill eventually came, we politely requested the *optional service charge was removed from the bill as we did not feel that we had received adequate service to warrant a tip, to which the manager began shouting that it as shocking that we wanted to rightfully remove the tip. He went on to say that the kitchen staff had stayed over time to prepare our food. My question to the owner is this... if your chefs are unwilling to work over their hours, why are you offering a reservation close to closing time whilst your staff are incapable of processing the orders to the kitchens in the correct timescale and working hours. If we were told that the kitchen were closing soon, we would have cooperated with the staff to help them work to their time scales."

"This place is simply too expensive for what is delivered. There’s nothing wrong with the food per se, but the prices are astronomical. We ate the leek tart, as a starter and it was £12. It was fine, but didn’t deliver the impact we were expecting for the price. It wasn’t made fresh, and the side salad was dripping in bog standard vinaigrette. Not inedible, but nothing special. I had the salt and chilli squid with ‘Asian slaw’. I was expecting flavours of coriander, lemongrass, lime, mint; all what I would consider pan-Asian flavours. When the dish arrived I could see straight away it was not to be! Instead of what I’ve described there was a fairly ordinary looking salad, swimming in a pool of (what tasted like) supermarket hoi-sin sauce. Really too much and overly sweet. The squid itself was well cooked but a very sparse portion for £16. Other dishes included lobster, at almost £60 (market price apparently) which was competent but came with bought in chips. No flavour to chips, they were semi-stale. We had higher hopes, I’m afraid. The service and atmosphere were perfectly fine, no issues there. Staff were efficient and friendly. I’m afraid for us, holidaymakers willing to spend money, this restaurant doesn’t represent good value. I enjoy eating out, but I hate feeling ripped off…and I’m sorry to say, that’s how dining at ‘The Potted Lobster’ felt. Save yourself the bother and go to the local butcher/pie shop a few doors down. They were doing a roaring trade and I can see why!"

"Blue Sky Cafe is a fantastic cafe based on Bangor High Street. The cafe is accessed through a signposted alleyway, which is tastefully decocorated in bright graffiti style art. The cafe has two floors with the ground floor also functioning as a taproom during the evenings and serves a variety of interesting drinks. Blue Sky also hosts events in the evening, ranging from live music to poetry nights. I went in for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I had the Buddah Bowl with a side of small Salt and Pepper Chips, both of which were incredibly delicious and generous in portion. The salad was well seasoned and fresh, and the falafel was the best I have ever had at a cafe that serves meat. I had an Iced Coffee with Oat Milk to go with my meal, which was also very good, but they do charge extra for non dairy milks. There are many vegan options on their lunch menu, and their breakfast menu also had cooked vegan options (served until 11:30), but I did not see any vegan cakes in their cakes display. The atmosphere in Blue Sky is great. The staff are welcoming, and Welsh language service is available . The upstairs floor is brightly lit up by a sky light and is full of plants and artworks for sale. The cafe also stocks many products from local vendors and has a section of drinks such as Iced Tea and Pink Lemonade made in-house. I highly recommend Blue Sky Cafe to vegans looking for freshly prepared food in a comfortable and contemporary space. Booking is highly recommended as the cafe is popular among students and locals, and information about events can be found on their social media."
