"This place is a bit of an institution in Cambridge. Situated at the heart of the old town, folklore has it that the university tried to close it down but the students managed to get them to overturn their decision. Surrounded by high profit-margin chains and exclusive boutiques, I could believe it. You can actually get *good* chips for less than two quid, which is a small miracle in itself. They will do you a chip butty (pita filled with chips and a good dollop of hummus on top) for not much more. It must be the student influence, but they do mention vegan options on the chalk board outside, and they do at least appear to know what a vegan is, which I'm always so grateful for! If you want to up the ante, you could go for the falafel or apparently the veggie burger is vegan (not 100% confirmed that yet though they have a rough and ready seating area upstairs and you can even get a sneaky glass of wine to go with your feast. Yep, they still predominantly serve animals, but, for Cambridge, this ain't too bad. Updated from previous review on 2017-07-28"

"I am a frequent customer of this restaurant and usually have positive things to say about it. However, tonight I had a very disappointing experience. I waited for an hour and 45 minutes for my delivery, only to receive onion rings that were inedible, cold, and soggy. The burger was also cold and the chips were lukewarm at best. I live only half a mile away but was unable to drive, so I had to make my own tea instead of enjoying a meal after a long week of work. I was extremely disappointed and will not be returning as a customer in the future."

"I have been a patron of this restaurant for 5 years now. Most of the staff are friendly, but one staff member in particular stands out from the crowd - his name is Simon. Simon always greets me with a smile and sometimes even gives me a warm hug, making me feel very welcome. Sometimes I am indecisive about what to order, but Simon always guides me in the right direction and helps me choose from the diverse selection of food. I highly recommend trying his sausage with a touch of chili sauce. If you are looking for great food and enjoy engaging in lively discussions about politics, then Panchos is the place to go. "Terrible fish and chip shop. I understand the cost of living, but charging more money for less food is not acceptable. I ordered a large mixed meat and chips, but requested only donner meat and tikka, a sausage, and curry sauce. Unfortunately, the chips were extremely dry with no salt or vinegar. The donner meat was very thin, the tikka was bland, and the sausage was tasteless. The curry sauce, which cost £1.95, was disappointingly small. Despite spending £15 including delivery (so around £12 for the actual food), I could have gotten more value for my money at other fish and chip shops. After seeing another negative review from a month ago, I am dreading the effects of my meal tonight. This was my first and last time trying this place."

"On a wet stormy Friday lunchtime we took shelter here and this turned out to be a good choice We had our dog Mutley with us but this resturant was dog friendly and we were all welcomed in with a smile. This set the tone for the exceptional service/hospitality throughout our lunch stop There was a large group in so we were not expecting nor wanted because of the weather fast service but when we said this they appreciated it but said they would get our food out easily but we're welcome to dawdle great service and nice to know they were not trying to push people through so you could enjoy your lunch time treats! It's located on the front with a veranda an indoor area all with some good views onto the harbour or into the street. It's a modern minimalist warm setting and smart decor Drinks and menus were quickly organised but we were not rushed at all which meant we could shelter longer with drinks!!"

"Ordered from here a number of times before and its always been good. However on this occasion my order Doner Meat Chips) arrived but when I opened the carrier bag with the polystyrene container inside...... IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DRIPPING IN FAT OR OIL!!!! The paper wrapped round the container was about 75% covered in the stuff and more residue was actually inside the bottom of the carrier bag : Added to that,, once I had unwrapped the paper, I also found that the polystyrene food container within was also covered in the greasy liquid!!! Never had this happen before and it was that bad that I had to go and wash my hands to remove all the oil on them before I could even start to eat my food. Not what Ive previously enjoyed from this place, hence only a 2 star for food quality."

"Terrible customer service, sent out chocolate cake with no use by date or lable showing ingredients. When I phone was told by manager that next time I ordered he would credit back my £6. "I just wanted to tell you how disappointed I am with your serve. Tonight was the second time in as many weeks that I came to you just before your listed closing time of 9pm. I was there at 8:50pm only to find that you were closed. What I thought was terrible customer service was even though I knocked politely on the glass 3 times the young lady behind the counter and the owner never even had the manners to look up to acknowledge me. "Absolutely shameful service ordered a cheese and tomato pizza, which picked up with slices under the pizza and stuck to the box. called to explain the shop and the manager was nothing but rude and ignorant and said there was nothing he could do. so we then took the pizza to the store that is less than half a mile away and showed the staff....they didn't care and said it wasn't wrong there, but the delivery driver had admitted that they dropped the pizza before they did not deliver any refund or replace the pizza. Attitude is lively and they should definitely not run a kind of reataurant. AVOID!!! there are a million better places to order in Carlisle."

"We have been using the Kingfisher every time we visit Hastings so it has become a very nice ritual over the past years. The fish and chips is always excellent, the fish I believe locally sourced and the food is always top notch. The...Kingfisher is very popular so there is a wait of about or mins max before you are served. It is well worth the wait! The food is always perfectly cooked, and the service is always fantastic. There is a very varied menu to choose from, and all in all the restaurant's popularity with visitors and locals seems obvious and well deserved. Always a great experience. Recommend!"

"What can I say I have live around here for 12 years and watched the steady decline of Sir Harry's Chippy corner cutting all over the shop only taking cash and serving you absolute FILTH!!! So a couple of months ago Island House took over and it was new and very fresh and until today I simply couldn't fault it. Although I will say the prices would indicate we have paid for the refit as well!! My biggest gripe of Sir Harry's was the kebab meat always being pre cut up then put into pots to go all dry and hard and Island Hut didn't do this at the start, but guess what it's back with a vengeance. WE DO NOT WANT DRY CHEWY KEBAB MEAT. It's bad enough when chicken gets dry but to get lamb doner all dry and actually so chewy I am still picking it out of my teeth half hour later!!!! All the talk when I first spoke to them was this won't happen we are not Sir Harry's well guess what the new broom has swept clean. Give it 6 months you'll be frying the scalliops over and over again and adding triple layered batter on the scallops. All the customer wants is to order a kebab and see you cut it fresh off the skewer! Yes it may be busy but people will wait around for a quality product! Just like Sir Harry's I have had my last food from you and at £7.00 for kebab meat and chips I am better paying a £1.00 more and getting a nice King Prawn Curry with Fried Rice from Ruby Harborne whom I have had quality food from for 10 years!!! Sir Harry's lasted 5 years of my residency, Island House hasn't lasted 5 months before putting profit over customer satisfaction. It's a rapid fall from grace!"

"We arrived at the restaurant without a reservation but were able to be seated. We found the food to be of higher quality compared to Pizza Express, which we used as a benchmark. The boys enjoyed their squid starter, while I always love the tomato brushetta. We also ordered mixed olives, which came in a tasty garlic herb dressing. For our main courses, the boys had a chicken burger and pepperoni pizza, both of which were generous portions. I opted for the pumpkin, ricotta, and crispy sage leaves ravioli, which was handmade and absolutely delicious. However, I wish the portion size had been larger or that it could have been offered as a starter for a lower price. The dish reminded me of a similar one at Watson and Walpole in Framlingham, but was much more affordable. We all ordered cokes, which were served with ice and lemon. The only thing missing was the chili oil that we used to find on the tables, which the boys requested for their pizza. We decided to skip dessert as we found the prices to be a bit high for the portion sizes, especially without a voucher and on a Saturday when there was no set menu offered. The service was decent, although one of the waitresses was quite loud when shouting orders across the restaurant, making the atmosphere a bit less relaxing. Instead, we opted to enjoy pastries, cakes, and coffee at H&H Honey and Harvey in Woodbridge, where I highly recommend the almond croissant."
