"Visited on the 30th with a pre booked table for 12 . Staff really friendly and welcoming when phoning to book table and pre order food. On arrival the pub was really really busy however we were looked after and shown quickly to our table . We had to change some of our pre booked orders but this was not a problem and all the food arrived together and was piping hot . Everybody really enjoyed their meals and the service continued to be great throughout the meal . Main reason for commenting is just to say thank you to the staff, we do a family Christmas walk every year with people coming from long distances, so ,as organiser the pressure is on to find a welcoming pub . So massive thank you , you’ve worked really hard but please know it’s appreciated, hope you have some time to relax after Christmas period and we look forward to seeing you in 2024 . Pete"

"Unfortunately, my experience with the Sunday roast lunch menu today was not ideal. The price listed on their online menu was inaccurate, and I ordered a large meal but ended up receiving two standard meals instead. When we got our order a second time, it included items we had asked to be removed in our initial request. My partner mentioned that the meat tasted like processed meat, and overall, the food was quite bland. This was disappointing, especially since I had a much better and tastier experience at the Merthyr Tydfil location a few weeks ago. The manager did offer us a complimentary drink as compensation, but I would have preferred to have a better meal experience. Unfortunately, we will not be returning."

"We were staying at the adjacent Premier Inn and had booked a meal package where you get a 2 course dinner and a breakfast for £25 per person. Upon arrival I overheard a member of staff saying that they were only going to serve people who had a meal package because they were running out of food considering it was only 8pm on a Friday, I thought this was odd. The menu itself is fine IF you are a meat eater, and do not have any food allergies! I have to follow a Gluten Free diet and was given a really small menu with very limited choices, and as I am also a Vegetarian this left me with one option, which I was then told wasn't available. (Two other dishes our group ordered also weren't available. The staff were very embarrassed and apologetic, they scoured the ingredients list to see if they could offer any alternative but the only option for me was a bowl of Tomato Soup not ideal. The staff were doing all they could to accommodate, Izzy in particular was brilliant, but with limited supplies and restricted menu's, I expected more from such a well established corporation and won't be rushing back anytime soon."

"Delicious vegan meal (Tofu fish and chips, and mushroom and bacon' gnocchi) with generous portions. We arrived 20 minutes before closing but staff were more than happy to accommodate. Great prices, including on the big selection of vegan wines. Only downside is they aren't open 7 days a week, however the lovely staff were happy to recommend a whole list of places to find great vegan food in Swansea on their closed days!"

"Extremely shocked by the rudness and unprofessionalism of staff at this resteraunt. We called in at 10.50 after attending a funeral with my mother who was already very upset. The door was wide open with nobody in the bar apart from two managers having a meeting who totally blanked us. We went upstairs to be greeted by a what do you want from a staff member. We replied just coffee to which we got breakfast finished a 10.30 and we are closed till 11.30 Basically get out you are not welcome. We left in shock. What a way to speak to paying customers! I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. The staff upset my geiving mother greatly with their rude, ignorant, unwelcoming manner. Disgusting."

"Andrew also clearly explained the ordering process and mentioned that we could use the app if we were uncomfortable ordering at the bar, which was very accommodating. He checked on us two or three times during our meal, remaining polite and friendly throughout. Once we ordered our food, we took a moment to appreciate our surroundings. The restaurant had a clean and comfortable atmosphere, with beautifully decorated tables and dust-free artwork adorning the walls. It was evident that the owner takes great pride in the establishment, and that pride extends to the kitchen as well. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive, which reinforced our expectations of freshness and quality from the moment we entered. The fish and chips were absolutely incredible – the best we've had in a long time. The fish was perfectly crispy, the batter was evenly cooked and flavorful, and the fish was wonderfully flaky. The chips were also great, although the double portion looked almost identical to the single portion since we planned to share it; we found that the servings were more similar than we expected. Overall, we enjoyed excellent service and high-quality food throughout our meal, leaving us satisfied even into the following morning. I've already recommended this place to my family and friends, and I plan to make it a regular stop. Thank you, Andrew, and the entire team – Andrew deserves a raise!"

"Last minute decision to go for a carvery at the Bucks Head. Didn't book, arrived at 1pm and we were easily seated at a table for two. Ordered 2 medium carveries with beef and pork. Plenty on the plates, just right for us, we cleared our plates not a morsel left. Finished with Apple crumble and custard. We thought the meal was excellent value."

"My 10 year old I visited for the breakfast yesterday I honestly cannot believe the value. We had all you can eat full English, continental drinks all for under a tenner (kids eat free) amazing! When booking I'd asked for a quieter spot, against a wall (which I wasn't too confident we would as I'd heard it gets incredibly busy I'd only booked an hour before) as my son doesn't do too well in crowds, noise etc. To my delight we were taken to a perfect area the staff member gave Rhys the choice of tables.On leaving they told me I could request the same table next time I booked too Of course the food, plates, mugs kept running out, but before anybody could ask for more the staff were refilling them. It was really busy, but the staff worked like a well oiled machine. The staff were all so polite, patient, professional accommodating thank you so much! We will be back!"

"My wife and I went there on Thursday evening. I had the scallops starter. My wife had the Romney Marsh lamb, square herbed potatoes(lots) carrots and sugar snap peas. I had the Mediterranean lamb (cooked in a tarine) wild rice and 4 garlic breads (came with it) . The staff were all polite and so welcoming from start to finish. "We decided to come to The Waterbridge to celebrate a 40th birthday, a 72nd birthday and a wedding anniversary as a party of 14. Even with us running late, due to traffic, the service and team was spectacular. Food was delicious, service was quick and efficient and all staff were very friendly. The added touch of flowers for the occasions was lovely. Our server, Hannah, was fantastic, friendly and helpful and made our Sunday dinner wonderful. Would highly recommend. "First time visited for a family celebration. We didn’t realise how busy it would be which we admit was our fault but where we were sat was dark and dingy, the noise was absolutely HORRENDOUS,the food was not good at all. After we had finished or should I say left our food we sat forever to have the plates and empty glasses to be removed and in the end had to go to the bar and ask for someone to clear the tables. This is not the service we expected especially from a city centre venue. The staff we had any dealings with were not friendly which didn’t help how we felt our experience had left. Sadly we would not return and would not recommend to our friends."

"We booked a table for 4 people (at 1pm) for Thursday 29th December. I have to admit, apart from the fish on the plates, (chips weren’t good) it must have been our worst experience at The Thorn Tree. I don’t know if you have a new owner/manager or staff but none of the “happy staff” that we have been used to we’re working yesterday. There was one young man that from what we could see, was only just managing to cope. He was literally running the bar/orders/seeting and serving single handed. This guy was doing great, to say that he had no help on the outside of the kitchen. The chips were certainly the worst we have ever been served. Lots of tiny pointed chips and quite a few chips were green fleshed. We would usually have stayed for desserts but the whole restaurant was “uncomfortably cold”. We understand that heating and energy prices have increased dramatically but myself and many others, are not prepared to pay good money, to sit and eat/drink in an uncomfortably cold restaurant. I would have certainly left this review on TripAdvisor but I have been told in the past “our TripAdvisor account has been compromised by a former employee”. So I’m not sure that there is much point, apart from sharing my opinions with others. In the past, I have always recommended and highly rated The Thorn Tree but no more"

"My previous reviews of the Star have been very positive so it's with much regret that this review is not so positive. We have been visiting the Star for some months now and previously never disappointed. Unfortunately last Sunday 19th Nov we were very disappointed with our lunch.The carrots and swede were lacking in flavour and there was very little cheese on the cauliflower.The gravy was very salty and the roast potatoes were not freshly cooked and hard to cut with the knife.The Yorkshire pudding was flat like a pancake and again no flavour.Also there was no cabbage which we had on previous occasions,instead we had red cabbage which is a strange one for us as we've never had that on a sunday lunch before and definitely won't be having it again.Between the 5 of us we had Turkey and Beef and both were very nice along with a lovely mash.If I had to mark the meal out of 10 it would be a 4 just because of the mash and meat.My wife questioned if they had changed chefs but was assured it was the same chef as previous visits.Personally we were not convinced.We have had many a nice lunch during the week so shall be visiting again but definitely not for Sunday lunch. "The service at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. The waiter was rude and did not greet us with a smile throughout the rushed meal. We were not informed that our table was only available for a limited time when we made the reservation. We were pressured to place our order multiple times within just five minutes of being seated. The chicken dish I ordered with lemon and herb flavor was covered in a strange gelatinous sauce that was clearly not cooked properly. The gravy had no flavor at all. The waiter rushed us through our meal and seemed annoyed when we asked for dessert and a cup of tea. He informed us, for the first time, that the table was needed in fifteen minutes. After paying over £40, we were not even thanked or offered a smile as we left. We have dined here a few times before, but will not be returning due to the rude and rushed service, low quality food, and high prices. There are much better dining options available that we will be trying instead."

"a table for a family dinner. restaurant was busy so the service was somewhat slower than usual, but our server alex was friendly, attentive and helpful. many unavailable foods, maybe they should reassess their order? eating was delicious and in portions. Right. only the complaining was the icy sun of the child had only a tiny creature ice in chocolate sauce drowned with fill of beats on the plate. the ice has not even filled the half of the conical bowl. Despite the fullness of chocolate can my son was disappointed by his lack of ice in an ice sunshade! Not sure if that was because they ran out of ice or just stingy!"
