"On arrival (mid week) incredibly slow at reception. We actually took 15 minutes to check in. The bedroom was beautiful and we were happy with the room We went for dinner and again despite a mid week it was almost 30 minutes for someone to take a food order and ages for drinks to arrive. The food was ok but my steak was rare when I asked for medium. The staff were all very polite but just unfortunately very slow and very short staffed. 1 person on a bar is not enough and that was their excuse for 15 minute wait for a drink to arrive. Breakfast again took a while because they said they had a table full to serve first. There were only us and one full table in the whole place. I'd hate to think if it was actually busy. Such a nicely decorated place. It would make a huge difference if there were more staff covering things. We would stay again but only because the rooms look great but customer service needs some work."

"Party's long over. There are better cooked breakfasts and hearty meals for walkers, at other cafes/restaurants in town, at a better price too. It's no longer a refuge for hikers, climbers and otherwise outdoors enthusiasts, as evidenced by the fact that they now close from September till the next summer. It's a great open space over two floors that could be utilised much better. Time for the owners to sell up and move on, so the space can be repurposed to better suit the needs of the community and local economy year round. Not just the needs of tourists over the Easter and summer holidays. Parking: Free street parking is always very limited."

"The owner of this establishment almost ran me over in the street today near my home whilst driving his car at an unacceptable speed. He reversed his car back to shout at me and then did a full loop of the town to come back and shout at me again 5 minutes later whilst I was chatting to a gentleman who had visited Lyme Regis to see the house that he was born in for what he said would be the last time. Someone I had never met before. We shared lovely conversation and hugs. The owner of LBK on his second run up my street swore at me, told me to look at his private number plate on his car (LBK whatever) and told me not to go to the restaurant again. Considering that I live in Lyme Regis and support his business all year, dining there most Sundays (even when the tourists have left for the winter) how dare he behave in such a manner. Not acceptable. I would strongly recommend that nobody frequents LBK if this is the way that one will be treated. I am beyond disgusted."

"On February 11th at 6 PM, the restaurant was quite busy, and we had to wait a bit. A few tables needed to be cleared after we settled in. The waiter came over to ask for our drink orders and promptly returned with our drinks. We weren't ready to order from the menu right away, but he was accommodating and allowed us a few extra minutes. The starters, mains, and desserts were all beautifully presented, and I would definitely return."

"This restaurant was disappointing to say the least. The food was terrible - overpriced prawns, burned calamari, and a cheeseboard with a brown apple and hard cheese straight from the fridge. The "triple cooked chips" were soggy and overall the meal was a disaster. It's no surprise the place was empty. On the plus side, our server was fantastic - very friendly and accommodating. Considering the price we paid, we could have had a much better meal at Miller and Carter or a nice restaurant in Birmingham. We all feel like we were ripped off."

"I went out for dinner tonight and had a bit of a mixed experience. The service for drinks was slow, taking 15 minutes for our first round and 20 minutes for my second drink. We tried to order our meal using the app, but it wasn't working so we had to go up to the bar. The bartender put our order through the till, but there was a discrepancy in the total due to a deal that was not clearly explained. Despite this, we didn't argue over the small £3 difference. My starter, hunter's waffle fries, arrived with just cheese at first, but I had to send it back for sauce. I also noticed that there was no bacon, but decided to just eat it as is. When our mains arrived, I had ordered chicken strips with a side of mac and cheese, but received a full main of mac and cheese with the chicken strips instead. My partner ordered the steak pie, which was supposed to come with gravy, but did not. Despite the mix-ups, we still enjoyed our meal and appreciated the efforts of the waiter/bartender. It wasn't the best experience, but we made the most of it."

"A lovely warm welcome as we arrived. The place was well managed for the current situation and felt comfortable and safe. We were served quickly and I had messaged in advance to see if they could cater for my dietary requirements, as I'm unable to eat gluten or dairy. "Overpriced for basic food. 3 burgers and chips, some chicken wings and 2 soft drinks £77! Small portions. Zero personality from waitress, drinks took ages to come and we were just left after our meal. Eventually we were asked if we wanted desserts which we declined and asked for the bill where we also rejected the additional service charge. Table wasn’t cleared and we were just left amongst the dirty plates. waitress then disappeared and it took me 20 minutes to be able to pay for this awful experience. Ruined the evening! Oh and hope it’s no one one’s special ever as they just shout at the tops of their voices to be heard and quite frankly it’s just rude and not pleasant. "I went there last night with my husband, two daughters and our dog Lola for dinner. On arrival we were directed to our table which we reserved in advance. Our order for food and drinks were taken promptly and all looked pretty promising. We ordered burger and chips, barbeque chicken skewer and plaice with a garlic butter, hallumi and cheesy fries. The biggest disappointment was the plaice which wasn't cooked well. It arrived as a soft mushy watery mess with absolutely no taste at all same with the prawns. The asparagus seemed to me like it had been boiled and was served soggy. I definitely would not recommend this dish!!!! The rest of the food was okay. It would be better to reduce the menu as I think people would much prefer fewer choices cooked well rather than lots of dishes which are mediocre. We also ordered two aperol spitz which we left as they tasted just awful. All in all we would not go back to this establishment."

"My three children and I visited this restaurant for breakfast, and we had an amazing experience. The service was outstanding from the moment we were welcomed at the door until we left; nothing seemed to be too much trouble, and the staff were all cheerful and friendly. "Terrible experience—avoid this place. We should have left when we found it completely empty on a Saturday night, but my partner was craving a steak. There were plenty of staff around, but the greeting we received was far from friendly. The restaurant desperately needed a thorough cleaning; numerous decorative items were scattered throughout, but they were all covered in dust and cobwebs. Given that there were no other customers, I would have expected the staff to use their downtime to tidy up. Additionally, there’s no table service; all orders must be placed and paid for at the bar, which added to the inconvenience. The restrooms were even dirtier and more rundown than the dining area. As for the food, it was disappointing—my partner did not enjoy the steak at all, and I wasn’t satisfied with my meal either."
