"We came for a meal me and my partner and left feeling very disappointed. The view the waiter and the wine was good, but the food on the other hand wasn’t. After receiving a £130 bill you would of expected amazing food and after booking it through the ‘pickled chef’ himself and after seeing he made it on to masterchef I was very shocked at what we actually received not to mention looking at his instagram and he was about to leave lusty glaze we definitely thought he checked out already when we had our meal. He wasn’t what we expected and being a chef I was excited to see what he had to offer! We had the seafood platter that was £80!! For the two of us!! We expected so much seafood.. it came and I think a weather-spoons could have done better . We had about 3 prawns, no scallops on the platter, we had a very small bowl of mussels, there was no seafood on the platter, frozen bagged chips and not even a dressed salad.. we didn’t say anything at first because we didn’t want to spoil our time together but after going to leave I spoke to the manager and he said he would of compensated and did apologise he then came back later on and said he will refund us a little money.. he said it would take 3-4 days to go back into your account!! we never ever received a thing! We won’t ever be returning! One of our favourite beaches in Newquay but will stick to the pizza on the beach next time!"

"Outstanding dinner service. I recently had such a good lunch at Viva Mexico that I took a big party of customers (i'm sales rep) out for dinner at Viva Mexico (in the middle of the Edinburgh Festival August 2010) as I wanted somewhere I knew could provide good value food and service and something a little different on the menu. Despite it being their busiest couple of weeks in the year their service was excellent and the food was exactly as good as it always is. Many of my customers commented that they had a really good time and enjoyed the food immensly. I went back there again with some friends for a birthday party (they had arranged it this time as it was a favourite place for them they knew it was a perfect place for a party, yet with the personal service and intimacy you only achieve in better establishments). I had the stuffed chillies followed by Mole chicken (chilli chocolate sauce) much, much tastier than it sounds! I had read about Margharita madness and have to say after having two parties at the restaurant lately their margaritas rock!! Very good and not too sore a head due I guess to the good quality tequila! The coffee was great too this place does great coffee!!! I heartily recommend this place right down to its authentic decor adding to the ambiance. A fun place for parties or a more quiet and intimate affair upstair or in the front room can be achieved thanks to their clever use of space. 5 review and I will most certainly be visiting again! "Having scoured Trip Advisor for inspiration and knowing my husband is a connoisseur of the traditional English fare of Fish and Chips, this was an out the way choice for me but alas, sometimes you have to put the husband first and give him what he wants. Fish and chips isn't up there on the first choices for me for sure but my....so glad I did. The decor is impressive, red clay brick outside which is traditional of Nottingham given the local soil content. And the inside you have to see for yourself....stunning and very creatively put together. Beach huts, a traditional yet contemporary bar, glass, rustic and modern. Love it.The food is just incredible. Some clever menu design with something for everything but be warned...a lot of deep fried items which in my opinion isn't a bad thing. Platters of interesting items like squid in Old Bay seasoning, runny scotch eggs, goats cheese fritters and then the classics such as fish and chips, all done exceptionally well. The fish taco was sublime with sweet potato chips and a garlic aioli and the mushy peas just perfect. I loved every mouthful and the service was just brilliant also with a very attentive host. My partner had traditional fish and chips....loved it. Twice cooked chips were stunning. They have a gin bar!! I gush because even though I try not to be a hipster and this is a hipster thing through and through, I ****** love him. No gin this time given it was lunch time (although I did quaff a couple of glasses of Sauvignon) but if I was there in the evening, I would be tapping that lot up.I can't recommend enough for something usual or something classical....British food at its finest and it speaks for itself. Not something you can usually say about our native fare I say, tongue in cheek of course. Fabulous! Ps no room for dessert but they do have candy floss on one of the desserts. I love this idea....fun should and can be fun. Next time I won't eat so much and will indulge...."
