"the enthusiasm of the birthday party we arrived has tied around the restaurant, which makes the conversation quite difficult, but it soon went back and the ambiente improved something. both our main, lasagne and meatballs, came unconsistently heated. the lasagne was in sharing hot and cool in others. the meatballs were simply piercable, although the pasta was hotly pierced. it was late, we were hungry, so not a fuss made, but it is fair to say that the food prep was sub standard and disappointing."

"Have never been disappointed by an evening at Jamie’s in Manchester. I usually book directly with the restaurant and my only criticism this time was that the restaurant didn’t automatically check Opentable bookings, so couldn’t find our booking as I’d made my booking on there on this occasion."

"The food was excellent, but the service left much to be desired. The staff were quite pushy about taking our order, which didn't allow us much time to peruse the menu. This may have been influenced by the current restrictions, but it felt a bit overwhelming. Additionally, they served all the food at once. While the quality of the food was impressive, the staff could have been more friendly and personable instead of coming across as robotic."

"Café Rouge at 52 Low Petergate not only offers delicious food but also boasts a beautiful street-front facade that shines brightly at night through its large windows. My man and I visited at different meal times and I opted for coffee and a snack while he enjoyed the hearty boeuf bourguignon, which was filled with tender meat and fresh beans. While there may be better boeuf bourguignon in higher-end restaurants, the price and ambiance at Café Rouge on Low Petergate cannot be beaten. Despite being part of a chain, this location has a unique charm that is easy to forget. Additionally, there is a charming and cozy dining room in the back. Café Rouge can be found at 52 Low Petergate, York, YO1 7HZ, and can be reached at 44 1904 673293."

"Atmosphere good, staff friendly. Although food arrived hot, the pasta was crunchy and still raw throughout. On one of our dishes, it was sliced steak, and when asked what it came with? We were told rice. Ten minutes later the waiter came back to explain it actually came with pasta. When the steak arrived there was no pasta in sight. When asked where's the pasta, they said it doesn't come with anything. Therefore we ended up ordering chips. By the time the chips arrived our guest had virtually finished their steak."

"Just returned from having afternoon tea with my family at the Bath branch. To say it was disappointing is an understatement. The menu was suppose to include quiche, sausage roll and French bread with melted cheese and ham as the savoury. What arrived was 1 small bread stick ....no filling! 1 slice of quiche and 2 sausage rolls. There weren't 2 of all the cakes and 2 of these were dumped on the plate upside down. The only saving grace was that we didn't have to pay full price as we used the eat out, help out reduction .... however this hadn't been applied to our bill and we had to remind them. This was not the best experience for our first time eating out post lockdown....we certainly won't be going again."

"the ambiente is beautiful and the personal was efficient and friendly. eating was quite average, nothing particularly excellent, even if we had dessert, pasta and pasta. starter and dessert but better than pasta. gnocchi and tottellini were both disappointing and definitiw not their high prices worth."

"my friends and I enjoyed the 3-course party set menu 21.5) and it is certainly a good example for Mediterranean cuisine for a beginner I had the supposed fresh king skallops', served in a citrus juice. a bit cheesy, but definitiw a good choice for the starter. for my main course I decided for the restaurants recommended underwriting court, confit lamb. the lamb is slowly boiled and then pressed into a cylindrical shape. the meat melts on the rim and is very succulent a good place to go for a group dinner, reasonable price and a wonderful worth. make sure to make a reservation!"

"The restaurant did not have a record of our booking or acknowledge any special occasion we had mentioned when booking. The server was unfriendly and the food was not up to standard. The garlic bread was burnt and the beef pasta was only warm, when it should have been hotter. Additionally, the staff were seen hanging around and complaining about their job."

"The service at this restaurant was excellent. However, the food was extremely disappointing. The "chips" were actually bland chunks of potato, the meatballs were undercooked, and the overall dining experience was terrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone."

"We chose the Pork and Beef from the Sunday Roast Carvery both meats were satisfactory , though my rare beef could have been more tender needing a steak knife to cut it . A good selection of vegetables though regrettably not piping hot . A rather limited choice of deserts . The waiting Staff were very friendly and helpful , but they seemed lack professionalism and self confidence . On arrival , we were concerned that our reservation was not on the list ; after showing the Head ? Waiter a copy of the OpenTable confirmation my wife and I were seated at a table set for five . the original reservation for 4 persons was reduced to 2 due to last minute illness"

"Popped in for some food before a gig in town. The fixed menu at £11.95 for two courses excellent value and it wasn’t basic dishes I had calamari and steak bavette with rocket/basil/Parmesan. Couple of draught beers that weren’t on the menu that were worth checking out. A lager and a hoppier version as well. The location of the restaurant right at Momument ideal for a grab of food on a night out. Service was sometimes less attentive than it could be but overall a nice meal to start the night with."

"I will not be going back here if I’m paid. Besides the fact they’ve taken almost all of the vegan options off, there’s a curry and fajita, which isn’t really a fajita it’s a reheated sloppy wrap! I know this because when asking about allergens or if I can take stuff out I was told it was all premade. I asked for a gluten free wrap as it was part of the option and was given a regular wrap and told about that after I had began eating it! I made my allergies very clear and the waitress tried her very best and was lovely but it seemed the kitchen staff really didn’t have a clue and something in my food set off a reaction even though I’d checked and there shouldn’t have been anything in especially since this meal was meant to be vegan (my main allergy is milk)... On top of this, the lady who came over to assist was extremely rude and insisted if I didn’t need to go to hospital it didn’t really make any difference and it wasn’t their fault so they wouldn’t do anything! Reluctantly she refunded me and said “here you go Madame if your money will make you feel better take it we obviously don’t cater to the likes of you” utterly appalled. Due to the lack of care and their lack of options they should be taken down form here ! Updated from previous review on 2021-06-09 Updated from previous review on 2021-06-10"

"We often go here for lunch when we are in Cardiff, but I don't think it's such good value anymore . The service was good as it should be when it's only got about 10 tables with people on. I didn't want much so had a salmon pate starter and some sweet potato chips,it was very nice husband had Beef with potatoe could of been better with a few vegetables and a tiny slice of apple tart. Both had drinks a lime and soda and small bottle of water. Bill was £44 for what was really only a three course meal ."

"This was a last minute booking as we found ourselves in London for the weekend. The food was delicious and some of the service team were warm and welcoming. One of the servers placed the amuse bouche on our table and walked away without telling us what it was (we had to ask another person). Thank goodness we don 't have any food allergies! We also had to ask more than once for some ice to have with our drinks. We also had to tell them when we were finished with the mains, and when we ordered dessert (which included a hot drink), we did not receive any petit fours or chocolate (all the other tables did). Perhaps service was a little off this weekend? The other downside was that the prices advertised on The Fork did not match the prices on The Goring 's website, and the prices advertised on The Goring 's website did not match the actual prices on the menu! For example, their famous lobster omelette is £34 on The Fork 's 'a la carte ' menu, £38 on The Goring 's website, but we were actually charged £45! The food is good, but I am not sure we would go back again. We paid over £200 for a 3-course meal and service was subpar and the prices were inconsistent."

"The food was great and we loved the taste of the Masala chai tea. However, it took over 30 minutes before our order was taken and other 30 minutes before our afternoon tea was served for us two. Other places Where I’ve had Afternoon tea, it has been served in less than 15 minutes since the variety is usually assembled of the selection of that day."

"Good range of starters we had the sliced duck tasty and a generous portion. We both had the roast beef which was excellent. Chefs were very jolly and served generously Beef, lots of veg and 2 types of potato. A dessert table to die for chocolate b b pudding, many cheese cakes more fruit would have been good. First coffee had almost no coffee in it just hot milk! Replacement cup much better. Table service efficient but not overly warm. This was a very informal family oriented venue so this service seemed oddly out of place."

"Despite living in Ruislip forever we only discovered this little gem at the start of 2022 now a regular haunt. Kathy Frank have developed a loyal regular clientele which speaks volumes in this day age . A lovely independent bijou cafe great for breakfast/brunch/lunch or a quick tea stop. A full and comprehensive menu plus daily specials, all reasonably priced cooked fresh to order always a warm welcome great humour from them both. In summer you can sit outside watch the world go by. Kathy Frank do all they can to locally source their produce ensuring it is all high quality, nothing precooked reheated here. Great milkshakes, iced coffees and hot chocolate Very definitely worth a visit great food and customer service from an independent "
