"My wife and I had a very nice lunch on Saturday, but I was not served what I ordered. The menu had changed recently and I was not advised of this when I ordered. I ordered a sharing platter which consisted of a selection of cold meats, rillettes, bread and a baked camembert with caramelised onions. This was still on the menu in the restaurant and also on the Cafe Rouge web site on the Internet. What I was served was six sausages, garlic bread, hummus and a baked camembert. It was nice but I do not think it was worth the same price as the selection of cold meats etc. I think the staff should have said the menu had changed when I ordered and I would have ordered something different. As usual the service was first class and all the staff very helpful and friendly."

We enjoyed a 3 course lunch with a glass of champagne (offer). Everything perfect and our waitress was as lovely as ever.

I came here with a friend and the service was nice. we had the demo pool and the confit de canard. the food didn't last long and everything was really good.

The experience was fine but the bill just did not make sense to me. It did not add up, the cost was more than the total bill on the receipt. The waitress could not explain it and l did not fancy starting an argument so l paid. I probably won't come back because in the end a bill has to make sense.

it was just in order. the place is beautiful and the staff was helpful. eating was just not very good enough, I think. it was just good. the paella was dry and tasteless, the meatballs where good, the hummus as well, the falafel was a little dry overcooked. found it a bit too expensive for the size of the portions.

I'm here before and can't understand where the bad ideas come from. the personal is very friendly and flexible, wanted sth in irregular size or any change of the plate, no problem. Eating itself is also very tasty, as well as any kind of coffee I had a chance to drink here. space is open until late, so if u a late shot caffeine it is a good choice. View menu

The steaks were well cooked with sauce on the side and the deserts were delicious. The restaurant was not very busy as we went at 5.30 in the evening. We have been at 8 pm and had to book in advance in order to get s table. We had the house red which was very palatable. With the discount from the Gourmet society it was a reasonable price. The waitress was very attentive so we would definitely go there again.

this place was once one of the best resturants in canterbury and would like to wish the owners and former employees every success in everything they do in future. eating and service were always fantastic. many thanks for eating here several times, especially with how expert they are for large groups. a few unlimited customers apparently placed wrong bookings without checking or calling after the owners were forced to come near; in my opinion, these unfair assessments are not a reflection on what was a wonderful restorer.

"After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
