"Dissapointed sorry. I feel that the restaurant is not as good as it used to be. The whole experience is somehow lacking now compared to what it used to be like. Todays meals were a starter of ribs and also prawn cocktails. They were nice and we had great expectations for the mains. Steak had to be sent back as we ordered medium rare but it was more medium well, the replacement was better cooked but found it to be to fatty, my missus did not finish it. Found the house special burger to be too dry, that’s both the burger and the bun it was served on, as well as lacking in seasoning, nope I never finished it. The main ribs for our friend was only half eaten too due to it being too fatty. In the past the Toby had been the place to go. You do seem to have lost your way unfortunately. The staff were attentive though and Carried out their jobs very well. The plates and left over food were cleared away and we were asked did we enjoy our food! We politely told them it was ok and not like it used to be, we were asked if we wanted deserts to which we said no, then within a couple of minutes the bill was placed on our table (we hadn’t asked for the bill though) but a lovely gesture from the front of house who came over and spoke to us and told us he’d given us a reduction on our meal as he had noticed that the ribs were fatty too. As the bill did arrive with out us asking for it then the royal Toby had lost Out on us ordering more drinks. So we decided to just go. Hopefully the next time we visit we will see an improvement and that Todays visit was just a minor glitch"

"The room was very cool/cold. The waiter appeared very disappointed we were not ordering anything alcoholic. We both ordered the grill, which arrived on cool plates, toast was also delivered, but no side plates or knives, therefore having to use dinner knives for rock hard butter. Tried for some time to attract attention of staff ,for more butter, but they were too busy in conversation. The staff were totally untrained and devoid of personality. We visited this restaurant approx two months ago and the staff were so welcoming and attentive, we really could not believe it was same place"

"Such a lovely pub, and really good service but unfortunately the food wasn't up to scratch. Rump steak gristly, some undercooked (although they happily rectified the undercooked pieces and the corner edges of the lasagna were burnt (the size of lasagne was disappointing for the price, just as well we ordered a side portion of chips! . The pub wasn't busy so they weren't under pressure. Just a very disappointing visit overall. Price per person: £20–30"

"Popped in for lunch with my two dachshunds and wow, was greeted so well by Stephen behind the bar, a definite asset to the business. Came made sure the dogs had snacks water and took time to engage with all 3 of us, checking we were happy with everything. Food arrived very quickly really was first class. Had the fish gujon ciabatta with fries leafy salad. Other staff also engaged well with us. "On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, we made a reservation at this pub to try it out for dinner after work. We booked a table online for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Upon arrival, we noticed that they had good parking and an outdoor area with a climbing frame. A staff member led us to our table inside where we found a diverse and appealing menu featuring dishes like plate exchanges, sandwiches, steaks, mixed grills, pub classics such as fish and chips and lasagna, as well as pizza burgers and more. The dessert menu was also impressive. Wednesdays are curry nights, with dishes priced at £6.50. I opted for the chicken korma with rice, naan bread, poppadoms, and chutney, while my companion chose the 8oz aged steak with chips, tomatoes, mushrooms, and a side salad. Both meals were fresh, hot, and delicious. The chicken korma was flavorful and my companion was impressed with his steak. We also indulged in a toffee waffle dessert, which was delicious. The pub had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with attentive staff. I would recommend booking in advance as it tends to get quite busy. The prices were very reasonable, and we paid £24 for 2 main courses, 1 dessert, and 2 drinks. We will definitely be returning in the future."

"Would have given zero stars had that been possible. Booked well in advance. Kept waiting with three other couples for a good 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Shown to our table to find a party of guests still eating/drinking. Went to another table to find cleaning products and dirty cloth on table. The gentleman at the door was absolutely out of his depth and had little or no management training. Door notice said they were accepting only bookings, everyone else turned away due to lack of staff. If there was only limited staff on that evening why did no-one think to cancel bookings/rebook customers for another time. Staff completely overwhelmed and stressed. This place needs strong management and leadership. It really is a complete shambles. GIVE IT A MISS.Needless to say our party of four walked out in disgust."

"Experience was good, server was accommodating and restaurant honoured requests to accommodate mobility issues. The length of time between courses was quite lengthy. Food was good, but apart from a couple of crackers on the table (considering it was a festive menu) it wasn’t very festive at all. Parking: Decent amount of parking, although you might struggle if it’s busy. Must remember to add number plate to the device inside the restaurant to avoid a fine."

"I went to The Fairie Tree for Mother’s Day after booking a table four weeks in advance. We were seated quickly and our drink and food orders were taken promptly. The menu offered basic pub grub, nothing fancy or a la carte. My three teenagers ordered haddock and chips, while I opted for the chicken and leek dish. A large party of 8 was seated nearby and their starters arrived quickly. However, we had been waiting for 20 minutes since ordering our food. After waiting for 50 minutes to an hour, I finally had to flag down a waitress to inquire about our food. She discovered that our order had not gone through to the chef due to a computer error, without offering an apology. Our food eventually arrived after another 20 minutes, which was decent but nothing special. When my son wanted dessert, it took another 10-15 minutes to get someone's attention. He ordered sticky toffee pudding, which again took 30 minutes to arrive even though the restaurant was not busy. We were about to give up on the dessert when the chef informed the waitress it was ready. There was no apology for the delay. When we asked for the bill, we didn't receive any sort of reduction for the poor service. The staff did not seem interested in addressing our concerns, and overall the service was slow and unfriendly. The food was overpriced and mediocre. I do not plan on returning as the experience was disappointing."

"We went here as a family of 4 after going to the cinema. We had a fabulous meal. One thing that really stands out is the way they handled the nut allergy my daughter has which was amazing. We were a bit disappointed the scallops weren’t available however were happy with the prawns, bao buns and haloumi. For mains we had 2 half lobsters, prawns and pulled burger all of which was well cooked and tasty. The service and staff here are super friendly and attentive. We will be back and most probably for a Saturday brunch which sounds amazing! Dietary restrictions: Very good with nut allergies"

"We came last night restaurant empty there was only one other table in there at the time. Starters took ages to come out. Undestably the fair was on so soon realised the chef was busy making food for them to sell outside a priority over the customers in restaurant. Luckily kids food came out with starters. At this point more customers in restaurant. Saw a table who came in after us get there mains and we were still waiting. Another tables asked where there's was and waitress was really ride and said its coming. Eventually after we kept looking round someone came to clear are plates after over 20min wait and asked for children's ice creams and our food. He said it was just coming. Kids got there icecreams and we still hadn't had our main. It then came out and lady took it to another table. Theb to another table and we had to call her over to say it was ours. Food was lovely just poor service last night when there was plenty of staff. Then had a 10% service charge added onto bill which under normal circumstances I wouldn't mind but when the service was that slow I asked for it to be removed. Hopefully a one off. Starters and main quite expensive."

"One of the best rib eye steaks I have ever had. I had it medium and just melted in your mouth. "I was unable to book a table online for the day, so I called the restaurant and spoke to Amber. She was very helpful in finding the last available table on the Roof Garden for 1:30pm. When we arrived, Amber welcomed us with a big friendly smile and quickly seated us. Our meals and drinks were promptly ordered and arrived. The Carvery could have been hotter, but the meat was tender and delicious, as were the vegetables. The other meal was hot, tasty, and plentiful. We will definitely be returning for seconds."

"On a cold winters night it was a real pleasure to call into The Five Horseshoes for a wonderful dinner. I have been here a couple of times and am never disappointed as the staff are always very cheerful and welcoming.
