"My wife and I have visited all of the Character Inns on the island and in each the staff have been very friendly. The Caulkheads is no exception, though this is our least favourite of the group. Despite being the nearest geographically to where we live on the island. It is perhaps because we have visited at quieter times, in winter, when the pub was still rather cold, that it has seemed less inspiring. Though admittedly, we have been disappointed by the food here too, which arrived slowly and less warm than I would have liked. perhaps again, due to being during colder weather, more difficult to keep hot. We haven't given up on The Caulkheads, we will try another visit sometime, perhaps in the Summer months."

"We hadn't visited this restaurant in a few years due to various reasons, but I'm so glad we decided to go back today. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, and he was very friendly and pleasant. He even made an adjustment to my husband's meal without us having to ask, and he double-checked our order, which was much appreciated. The food arrived within 10-15 minutes and was piping hot, not lukewarm like some other places we've been to. I had one of the best curries I've ever tasted, packed with chicken and bursting with flavor. They also offer a great selection of alcohol-free beverages, which is a refreshing change from the usual fruit juices and sodas you find elsewhere. This emphasis on quality extends to the food as well. The atmosphere was relaxed, especially since we went in the late afternoon when it wasn't too busy. Overall, it's an excellent choice if you're looking to enjoy a leisurely couple of hours, and we highly recommend it for both couples and families."

"The room was very cool/cold. The waiter appeared very disappointed we were not ordering anything alcoholic. We both ordered the grill, which arrived on cool plates, toast was also delivered, but no side plates or knives, therefore having to use dinner knives for rock hard butter. Tried for some time to attract attention of staff ,for more butter, but they were too busy in conversation. The staff were totally untrained and devoid of personality. We visited this restaurant approx two months ago and the staff were so welcoming and attentive, we really could not believe it was same place"

"Dissapointed sorry. I feel that the restaurant is not as good as it used to be. The whole experience is somehow lacking now compared to what it used to be like. Todays meals were a starter of ribs and also prawn cocktails. They were nice and we had great expectations for the mains. Steak had to be sent back as we ordered medium rare but it was more medium well, the replacement was better cooked but found it to be to fatty, my missus did not finish it. Found the house special burger to be too dry, that’s both the burger and the bun it was served on, as well as lacking in seasoning, nope I never finished it. The main ribs for our friend was only half eaten too due to it being too fatty. In the past the Toby had been the place to go. You do seem to have lost your way unfortunately. The staff were attentive though and Carried out their jobs very well. The plates and left over food were cleared away and we were asked did we enjoy our food! We politely told them it was ok and not like it used to be, we were asked if we wanted deserts to which we said no, then within a couple of minutes the bill was placed on our table (we hadn’t asked for the bill though) but a lovely gesture from the front of house who came over and spoke to us and told us he’d given us a reduction on our meal as he had noticed that the ribs were fatty too. As the bill did arrive with out us asking for it then the royal Toby had lost Out on us ordering more drinks. So we decided to just go. Hopefully the next time we visit we will see an improvement and that Todays visit was just a minor glitch"

"An old fashioned Italian restaurant that has obviously been successful for many years with a loyal local clientele. The decor was ok if somewhat tired but, as said, has to be successful so why change? The owner is a great guy, larger than life and...very accommodating and funny. His second is a little less outward going and does not seem to enjoy his job much but could be it was just a bad day for him which after the last number of months is entirely understandable. I had mussels, which were excellent, and herself a caprese salad the quality of the tomato and mozzarella was not the greatest plus it was swimming in too much balsamic dressing (which, he pointed out to us, is how he likes it personally). For mains, herself had a really excellent seared lamb and lamb risotto from the specials and she loved it. I tried a little and have to agree it was excellent. I had Zuppa de pesci which was pleasant enough but the star of the show, large prawns, were somewhat over cooked and slightly powdery to my taste. Having had excellent dinners in two local restaurants, overall it was a disappointing last night’s stay in Seaford softened by some good cooking and watching the host at work. The wine list, incidentally, is good and would recommend the dry house Rose and the Primitivo which was excellent!"

"Such a lovely pub, and really good service but unfortunately the food wasn't up to scratch. Rump steak gristly, some undercooked (although they happily rectified the undercooked pieces and the corner edges of the lasagna were burnt (the size of lasagne was disappointing for the price, just as well we ordered a side portion of chips! . The pub wasn't busy so they weren't under pressure. Just a very disappointing visit overall. Price per person: £20–30"

"Visited here over the weekend. Diabolical service.. managers didnt know the head to their foot never mind how to serve a table.. 3 things we tried to order after waiting for 15 minutes that wasnt on the menu.. we complained after being there for 55 minutes and only receiving our starters to hear the managers stood slandering us.. and creamy mushrooms? Ive had more cream in a bourbon biscuit.. Didnt even get to try the main as we cancelled them.. 4 tables in the whole building and saying its busy! Ridiculous766 excellent reviews?? Them 766 are obviously not mentally there or used to a mcdonalds... i mean fast food takeouts have more manners than this place. If i had the option i would give a minus rating.. not even worth a 1!. Try some team training meetings on customer service and how to speak to people."

"Popped in for lunch with my two dachshunds and wow, was greeted so well by Stephen behind the bar, a definite asset to the business. Came made sure the dogs had snacks water and took time to engage with all 3 of us, checking we were happy with everything. Food arrived very quickly really was first class. Had the fish gujon ciabatta with fries leafy salad. Other staff also engaged well with us. "First thing I did when I arrived in Birmingham from my holiday is to go try their Tacos, and I wasn 't disappointed, I was happy while eating it. "On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, we made a reservation at this pub to try it out for dinner after work. We booked a table online for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Upon arrival, we noticed that they had good parking and an outdoor area with a climbing frame. A staff member led us to our table inside where we found a diverse and appealing menu featuring dishes like plate exchanges, sandwiches, steaks, mixed grills, pub classics such as fish and chips and lasagna, as well as pizza burgers and more. The dessert menu was also impressive. Wednesdays are curry nights, with dishes priced at £6.50. I opted for the chicken korma with rice, naan bread, poppadoms, and chutney, while my companion chose the 8oz aged steak with chips, tomatoes, mushrooms, and a side salad. Both meals were fresh, hot, and delicious. The chicken korma was flavorful and my companion was impressed with his steak. We also indulged in a toffee waffle dessert, which was delicious. The pub had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with attentive staff. I would recommend booking in advance as it tends to get quite busy. The prices were very reasonable, and we paid £24 for 2 main courses, 1 dessert, and 2 drinks. We will definitely be returning in the future."

"Would have given zero stars had that been possible. Booked well in advance. Kept waiting with three other couples for a good 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Shown to our table to find a party of guests still eating/drinking. Went to another table to find cleaning products and dirty cloth on table. The gentleman at the door was absolutely out of his depth and had little or no management training. Door notice said they were accepting only bookings, everyone else turned away due to lack of staff. If there was only limited staff on that evening why did no-one think to cancel bookings/rebook customers for another time. Staff completely overwhelmed and stressed. This place needs strong management and leadership. It really is a complete shambles. GIVE IT A MISS.Needless to say our party of four walked out in disgust."

"I went to The Fairie Tree for Mother’s Day after booking a table four weeks in advance. We were seated quickly and our drink and food orders were taken promptly. The menu offered basic pub grub, nothing fancy or a la carte. My three teenagers ordered haddock and chips, while I opted for the chicken and leek dish. A large party of 8 was seated nearby and their starters arrived quickly. However, we had been waiting for 20 minutes since ordering our food. After waiting for 50 minutes to an hour, I finally had to flag down a waitress to inquire about our food. She discovered that our order had not gone through to the chef due to a computer error, without offering an apology. Our food eventually arrived after another 20 minutes, which was decent but nothing special. When my son wanted dessert, it took another 10-15 minutes to get someone's attention. He ordered sticky toffee pudding, which again took 30 minutes to arrive even though the restaurant was not busy. We were about to give up on the dessert when the chef informed the waitress it was ready. There was no apology for the delay. When we asked for the bill, we didn't receive any sort of reduction for the poor service. The staff did not seem interested in addressing our concerns, and overall the service was slow and unfriendly. The food was overpriced and mediocre. I do not plan on returning as the experience was disappointing."

"Experience was good, server was accommodating and restaurant honoured requests to accommodate mobility issues. The length of time between courses was quite lengthy. Food was good, but apart from a couple of crackers on the table (considering it was a festive menu) it wasn’t very festive at all. Parking: Decent amount of parking, although you might struggle if it’s busy. Must remember to add number plate to the device inside the restaurant to avoid a fine."

"I had prebooked one of the five meals in advance as our son is severely autistic, and as part of his routine, he has his evening meal at 5 PM every day. However, what I requested over the phone two days prior had not been conveyed to the kitchen staff. Seeing my concern, Izzy quickly improvised and said she would make his meal a priority. She also provided a quick snack while we waited. The main meals quickly followed and were cooked to perfection. We had a very pleasant evening with lots of laughs and enjoyed the calm atmosphere and competent service from Izzy and her team. We happily left a tip and will be sure to return again soon. Our family life isn’t exactly normal, and we have to plan ahead due to our son’s condition. The staff accommodated us well and showed understanding, which in my book, goes a long way! "We went here as a family of 4 after going to the cinema. We had a fabulous meal. One thing that really stands out is the way they handled the nut allergy my daughter has which was amazing. We were a bit disappointed the scallops weren’t available however were happy with the prawns, bao buns and haloumi. For mains we had 2 half lobsters, prawns and pulled burger all of which was well cooked and tasty. The service and staff here are super friendly and attentive. "We came last night restaurant empty there was only one other table in there at the time. Starters took ages to come out. Undestably the fair was on so soon realised the chef was busy making food for them to sell outside a priority over the customers in restaurant. Luckily kids food came out with starters. At this point more customers in restaurant. Saw a table who came in after us get there mains and we were still waiting. Another tables asked where there's was and waitress was really ride and said its coming. Eventually after we kept looking round someone came to clear are plates after over 20min wait and asked for children's ice creams and our food. He said it was just coming. Kids got there icecreams and we still hadn't had our main. It then came out and lady took it to another table. Theb to another table and we had to call her over to say it was ours. Food was lovely just poor service last night when there was plenty of staff. Then had a 10% service charge added onto bill which under normal circumstances I wouldn't mind but when the service was that slow I asked for it to be removed. Hopefully a one off. Starters and main quite expensive."
