"For once I was disappointed when I came for lunch today. We were shown to our table but hadn't even sat down before a staff member was over asking for a drinks order. We said what we wanted and she left. Drinks arrived reasonably quickly unlike the staff who were leaning against the bar and never came over to take our order. Eventually I managed to call one over and we placed out order. It seemed to take forever before the plates arrived (a sandwich and a haggis starter with a bowl of fries). Unfortunately the haggis had been replaced by pate for some reason so that had to go back. At this point I complained to the waiting staff who took my plate away and the bowl of fries. Later the correct order was delivered but the fries were only warm and nowhere hot. Another complaint and the manager apologised and took the fries off the bill. I've been before and had a great experience but this time it was just not up to scratch with staff standing around and not attending to the small number of guests that were there."

Waited 10 minutes. We had to ask for the table to be cleaned. The girl who eventually served us was good but whilst busy the wait was far too long.

Dining with a friend was a pleasant experience in a restaurant with very efficient staff and a menu that didn't disappoint. The staff are to be congratulated as they emerge from very difficult times.

Ordered breakfast and after 15 minutes of ordering said there was no maple syrup so had to change and reorder. When food came was well presented and very tasty. Omitted a Diet Coke from order and took three attempts to eventually get one.

I had the beef burger. Whilst tasty the presentation was disappointing. Just a burger squeezed in a bun with tomato and coleslaw and a whole load of chips. 1 out of 10 for the presentation. For £21 would expect some salad or maybe onion rings. Could do with looking at what the competition offer for less.

I waited about 10 Mins to pay for my 2 coffees. The waitress let 3 people ouch infront of me. She wasn’t listening and asked me 3 x if I was paying by card. I was standing with it in my hand. We asked for shortbread with the coffee. I am still waiting for it 5 hours later. Might be a 5 star hotel but £11 for 2 very small cappuccinos. Not impressed at all.

"My wife and i visited Girvan and gave the Auld Aquaintance Cafe a try We were not disappointed. The Cafe is managed by the husband and wife team Prenil and Delphina Prenil is the chef and Delphina manages the cafe. They both made us feel extremely welcome and Prenil allowed us complete freedom to dictate our own taste choices and explored with us our food likes. Prenil can make virtually any dish to order rightly called food fusion) and loves a challenge but on this occasion we opted for Indian food and a house special Chicken Kashmiri and a Prenil customised Korma. We also ordered chicken Pakora and Onion Bhajis as starters. Each dish came piping hot directly from the kitchen as soon as it was ready to eat. Each and every dish was a delight , the Pakora was extremely succulent and the dips were delicious as were the Bhajis. The main courses each included the curry dish, rice, a hand made fresh flat bread and a Poppodom the food was specialised and subtly different in taste from standard curries , you could literally taste a multitude of different flavours. If you are in Girvan then don't be put off by the cafe decor , its all about the food and it is well worth the visit we don't think you will be disappointed and very reasonable prices for speciality food. If you have dietary requirements then they can usually accommodate most my wife is gluten intolerant and had no issues However if possible phone ahead and they will proactively respond to your specific needs."
