"Highly recommend this little gem. They quickly took us in when we had an issue with booking.com double booking us at a local cottage with our dog. We were recommended to stay here by the cottage owner, and she certainly put us in a wonderful place. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The room we stayed in was really clean, modern and had everything we needed, they also came to make the room up, gave us fresh towels and fresh water etc. We also enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant, again the staff couldn't do enough for us. They also made our little dog feel very welcome On the Sunday of our stay, we decided to have lunch in their garden (which is enclosed, which again was good for our dog as she wasn't near the road). The Sunday lunch is recommended! As we travel to Naseby every year for a dog show, we will definitely be returning and recommending to our friends."

"I went to this restaurant for my dad's birthday celebration, but I was highly disappointed. The staff was unprofessional, the food was served cold, and when we asked for a replacement dish, they simply reheated the same one and brought it back. Despite requesting a cake in advance and reminding them multiple times on the day, they forgot to bring it out. I will not be returning to this restaurant again in the future."

"We visited this restaurant for the first time today, and we were not disappointed! The food was cooked to perfection, the service was fast, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was cozy, and the entire place was impeccably clean. Plus, there is convenient parking and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. The Christmas decorations looked fantastic as well! This restaurant is a testament to a great team. Don’t hesitate to visit; there’s a wide selection of food and drinks on the menu at very reasonable prices! We will definitely be back! The hours are from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM during the week and from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM on weekends."

"This was a fantastic find. Totally unpretentious, the staff were all very welcoming. The food was also terrific, notably the Gold Rush mushrooms in port and Stilton and the Undertaker steak, chicken and ribs. Would highly recommend for a hearty meal and we will definitely go back the next time we are on holiday on the Isle of Wight In fact, we might even go back before we finish this holiday! "We have just been to this restaurant for Sunday roast. The service was appalling, We booked at table for 4:30pm as we have young kids so wanted to eat early as to get them to bed early. We sat down at 4:30 did not leave until 7:15pm. From what we could see there was one waitress serving 1whole side of the restaurant on her own with little help from the Manager Olek. Our waitress was fantastic but over worked unfortunately this meant we were just forgotten. Waiting over 30 to have plates cleared, menus bought out. We could see our food just sitting under the heat lamp drying out. I'm absolutely appalled by this we quite like it here visit frequently but I think we will go elsewhere from now on. Not even an apology from the manager when I complained."

"One of the best steak houses I've ever been to! I highly recommend this restaurant. I made a booking for one last minute and they accommodated me quickly. Unfortunately, when I arrived and was shown to my table it was laid up for two and the waitress even put down a second menu. I chose what I wanted and was seen to quite quickly. Despite ordering a glass of wine, one starter and one main, the waitress then asked if I was waiting for anyone. As a single dinner this repeated assumption that I must be with someone else made me feel quite saddened, especially as I had pre-booked for one. The wine was very good, and the starter came out in a flash. I had ordered whitebait but what I was presented with was surprising small considering it's £8 (roughly) price tag. The fish was good and the batter was done well. The accompanying sauce/dip and salad were both good as well. The main issue was portion size for me, especially as I see whitebait as a cheap option in normal restaurants. I had the rib-eye steak at £30 (roughly) and ordered it blue. Something that is always risky in my experience, but the chef did it to perfection. I think it is the best blue steak I have had in all of the Bournemouth area. The garlic butter was divine and the chips and onion rings were well prepared. The grilled tomatoes were very good, I must say. Over all, the food was absolutely exceptional and the service was absolutely on point! Except for the price and size of the whitebait and the service making me feel a tiny bit awkward for being alone, I would have given 5* across the board. The place is quite pricey, for me alone with just a starter, main and two drinks plus the tip came to £70. However, the steak was so good that I would still recommend it if you are able to afford it. "Going back to the Gamston Lock was like seeing an old friend again. In this day and age, when words “New” and “Cutting Edge “ are the norm and the #everythingsdifferent is the gold standard, it’s nice to re visit somewhere that has stayed the same. Everything was the same, in completely the best way. The greeting we got at the door was in the same friendly, cheerful way. The food was to the same excellent standard. Our favourites were still on the menu. The serving staff that looked after us Kat and Tracey kept up the friendly and polite service in the same friendly and familiar fashion that we had come to know and love about the place. They were there when we needed them and checked up on us throughout the meal. In a world that rushing on way too fast, it’s nice just to be able to relax and take time out in lovely surroundings and be looked after by staff who know and love their job. The Gamston Lock has taken to heart the proverb “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. I can’t help but think that the world needs more places like this. Definitely going to be going back again. "We booked in for Christmas Eve late lunch early tea booked in for the adult dining area to the right which we were seated in but lots of family’s in there kids running around it was very noisy, the food was delicious we had chicken goujons...to start followed by Lasagna, gammon Top brink burger the food was delicious, and the service was good, didn’t order puddings as the wild noisy children in there had drove us mad, parents letting there children run around,so we couldn’t wait to get out, last time we were there they told us that the adult dining area had gone for now due to covid but I mentioned when paying and the young lady said it was due to room for families? I understand it’s a family pub but these parents had no consideration for anyone else. Please bring the adult dining area back when it’s a table of adults only eating you don’t want to sit where kids are shouting screaming and running around."

"This has to be the most despicably run establishment I have ever frequented. I recently took my son for lunch on a day out, parked in the car park. There were no obvious signs at all to say that you had to notify the establishment of your car registration number. We had lunch, paid the bill, left directly only in the car park for one hour. You can imagine how furious I was to receive a £100 parking fine a week later. And to make matters worse, the car hire company had already paid it (so it's very difficult to appeal) are now chasing me for the money! Absolutely shocking! No obvious signs, the staff never mentioned a thing didn't ask for our registration number. So a £30 lunch just turned in to £130! I shall never, ever frequent the place again what an appalling way in which to treat your customers!"
"Unfortunately, my hopes for a pleasant meal with my daughter and granddaughter were dashed at this restaurant. We waited for over an hour before anyone approached our table. The lack of heating in the restaurant, with temperatures outside at 7 degrees, was not communicated to us beforehand. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, except for a large group already dining, we received slow service while the other party was attended to promptly. The explanation given was that only two staff members were working that day, which seemed inadequate for the size of the establishment. The food quality was mediocre at best, with my smothered chicken being too tough to cut. Ultimately, we left most of our meals uneaten and went elsewhere for a quick bite. It felt like £50 was wasted, as the experience was disappointing. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. On a positive note, there was ample parking available outside, though the disabled spaces were not designated."

"The steak was really good, and the fish and chips were enjoyable as well. However, the children's meal was quite small and not substantial enough to be considered a proper meal, despite being free during our visit. **Service:** Dine-in **Meal type:** Lunch **Price per person:** £20–30 **Food:** 3/5 **Service:** 4/5 **Atmosphere:** 3/5 "

"Have known about the Champany for years and it's good reputation so we decided to try the Chop Ale House first. I'm afraid to say it was a big disappointment. My order of sirloin was over done, medium more than medium rare and the...fat was charcoal. The quality of the steak was not great, fairly chewy, we get much better steak from our butchers in the Borders. The service was exceptionally quick, no sooner had you finished your last mouthful plates were whisked away. In fact we were actually asked twice if we had finished when we clearly had not. There is a no booking policy so I understand they need to turn tables, but we were actually done in an hour for a course meal. I was also very uncomfortable with the uniform' for staff. Plain black trousers and shirt for the men which was fine but an absolutely ridiculous traditional servants' uniform for the women with a long white frilly apron, think Dounton Abbey, totally uncalled for, very sexist. Overall a disappointment for what was with only person drinking and a shared dessert. I'm afraid we will stick to Edinburgh."

"We are holidaying here with our three children. My son who is autistic loves softplay, its the only way we can eat out in peace as a family. I googled nearby softplays and this showed up and we were looking forward to it. When we arrived we ordered our food and were told softplay is closed and has been for 2 years. I suggest they update their cover photo online featuring the softplay and amend the reasons to visit by deleting family friendly with softplay . We stayed anyway and my son needed the toilet. It was disgusting, god knows when last cleaned. No toilet roll, hand wash empty but a bottle of diluted hand sanitizer there instead. Once food arrived the meat on my Sunday dinner was tough. Kids potato smiles burnt and my husbands chilli was close to inedible with how spicy it was. Four flies were constantly circling the table and going on our food. I complained and was told there 's fields surrounding so it can 't be helped. I did get offered a replacement meal for my Sunday roast which I declined because the kids were twining about the softplay and I just wanted to go home. I 'm not one to complain infact this is the first time I ever have in an establishment and I hate doing it but this was disappointing. I 'd be interested to know the hygiene rating. Its a shame because its a lovely building in a beautiful setting."

"Went here to dine with a family member I hadn't seen for 3 years. I initially thought it wouldn't be great because my first choices were booked up, however, Bistecca superseded my expectations by a mile. The service was calm and very warm, especially with the manager (I believe it's a family-run business), who intentionally was a bit slow to take orders so the kitchen wasn't overwhelmed. The food was great, with the t-bone steak done perfectly to what I usually like (medium). The food was very quick coming out of the kitchen and nothing felt too heavy and the flavours weren't overwhelming. Overall, would I recommend this? Absolutely. Try it out!"

"This restaurant is not ideal for anyone looking for a quick meal. It took a very long time to place our order as we were seemingly forgotten. Other customers who arrived after us were served before we were. It took over 40 minutes from ordering to receiving our food. The food was delicious, but the slow service was a letdown. Nobody asked about our experience, and when clearing the plates, the staff did not say anything other than "have you finished.""

"great first visit in this pub. nb: 20% discount on mon wed until september 2020. Tuesday evening was quiet and we sat quite fast on a clean table. the menus are varied and very good value and based on our experience were all portions for appetizers, main and desserts larger than all we had elsewhere. the service was very good, not disturbing, exactly right with friendly and happy staff who served us all night. our group had appetizers of garnelen cocktail, fried chicken strips and mac and cheese balls with salsa. These came very well presented to us and in portions larger than all we had before. they all had anointed with them. that huh was a bit overdue, but we all ended her happy. for the net, we had a rump steak, roasted chicken meat with sewn new kartoffels, sink and iron and sausage and maic. again large portions, very well presented. our people thought the chicken and sausage heads were beautiful. the steak was described as a good butbdry, maybe slowly cooked? and the cool sink would have been better if the ham were fresher. the desserts were delicious. we had warm chocolate brownies that come with ice cream, and recommend a brilliant white chocolate cheesecake if they like cheesecake. one of the best I've ever tried. just a lot of parking outside. excellent selection of cocktails. good wine options for reasonable trips. 20% discount on Monday to September 2020."
