"I booked a table for 7 people at 7pm online. I received instant online confirmation as well as an email to confirm our booking. When we arrived the staff said they had no record of the booking. The restaurant was only half full so they were able to seat us anyway. It was a Sunday and we had primarily chosen the venue as their Sunday roast sounded good and was served until 9pm. As we sat down we were told they had run out of Yorkshire puddings. Within 10 minutes they came and took the Sunday menu away and said it was now unavailable but we could still order from the standard menu. My mother in law asked if it was possible to swap chips for mashed potatoes with the pie and was told no, the mashed potato portions were already allocated to other meals. At this point we left. The staff did try and seemed sympathetic but were annoyed when we left as they had poured out a couple of the drinks order. The restaurant looked like a good place it was a nice setting but the menu was expensive and other diners could be heard complaining they had been waiting a long time even though they weren't busy. We were understandably really disappointed with the whole experience."

"I remember this place fondly as a favorite haunt, and it still holds a special place in my heart. However, I was disappointed to see that the beautiful mural on the wall had been painted over, replaced by a simple bird. The addition of a new walled garden at the front of the pub creates a nice atmosphere, but unfortunately, the recent storms have left the site in need of some repair. The prices were reasonable, and the staff were exceptionally polite and friendly, going above and beyond. It was a shame that the outdoor heating was not working during our visit, as it made for a chilly experience. Despite these minor issues, the company I was with made up for any inconveniences. It's been a while since I last visited and socialized here, and the cost of a quick pint was a bit of a shock to the wallet."

"We are living in strange times and need to make allowances but on a wet and windy Friday evening leaving the main door permanently open made the lounge pretty cold and uninviting. The food was fine and the staff were very friendly and helpful but we were disappointed when a group of four people were sat on the next table to us. I doubt this qualified for the correct social distancing and we were lucky we were close to finishing our meal so we could pay the bill and leave. It may be fine for local trade but not for tourists in my opinion."

"I have to say I wasn't expecting to be able to get something vegan from here but I saw the superfood salad on the menu and I asked if it was vegan and explained (as I get nervous they don't get it) and it was! Was reasonably good for example the carrots were cooked to perfection but the pomegranate wasn't as ripe as hoped! After i visited I went on tripadvisor and it seems like quite a few vegans go there for the superfood salad! The staff were accomadating and kind and I was lucky to have a lactose intolerant waitress who felt the need to triple check the dressing ingredients for me!"

"Stayed here many times over the years I even celebrated my wedding here so last night was such a huge let down for me. Service started off great with drinks order taken immediately on being seated and after a while food orders were taken. When the food came out it was wrong, my friends’ food had everything on the dish that she had specified she didn’t want, eventually got the attention of a waitress who took it away. I was left slowly eating my food for 25 minutes before the replacement meal arrived for my friend . My food was now cold so I didn’t eat it. Getting the attention of staff was a problem all through the night even though there were plenty of them around at one point there were more staff than guests. Dessert was fine. Such a disappointing evening for a 5 star hotel, and a let down for my birthday celebration."

"Sometimes if I am shopping in Newcastle or meeting a friend I want somewhere to go for lunch that is quick and easy. Marco Polo is an italian restaurant which fits the bill.The interior is modern and not done out in the traditional style of many italian places. I think maybe they are trying to attract the business side of the market rather than families.If you go at lunchtime the place always seems to be busy although they do have more seating upstairs. Partly this may be because they do a business lunch special which comes in at under for either soup or garlic bread and pizza or pasta. Often it is cheaper to go for this choice than to buy a pasta or pizza on its own although there are a couple of restrictions of dishes that aren't included in the deal.Staff are friendly and helpful and the place is great for a quick bite at lunchtime for a bargain price!"

"Had a lovely relaxing Afternoon Tea here and wasn't disappointed. The Hengist is a modern but lovely old building and the staff were very attentive. The food was good I particularly liked the quiche that came with the sandwiches. The cakes were delicious too. I have one criticism, the scones were overcooked and therefore hard, however the waitress replaced them for us. I would definitely go back there."

"The food is amazing at Hache House, I had the Canadian and my bf had the American and we couldn't fault IT. Our only concern was the service it felt very understaffed and although the manager was there she didn't really appear to be getting stuck in! The poor lad on the bar was inundated with cocktail orders and didn't know the menu whether it was lack of practice or what I'm not sure but the drinks took forever to come. The waiter we did have though was lovely however his colleague seemed away with the fairies and not really involved in what he was doing. But like I said if they possibly had another member of staff it probably would have been better. You can't fault the food though."

"we made dinner. we were pretty late and the place was busy even though it was a weekday. as a result, the inspections of the service were somewhat slow. there, but it was good overall. server were helpful and friendly. While they may expect standard-sub-grub, the menu has some more interesting elements. the prizes were a bit high to fit. the selected items were especially enjoyed the hand-cut chips."

"I went to this restaurant for Sunday lunch with a friend. Despite being fully booked when we called, they managed to squeeze us in. We arrived just after 1pm and it was quiet, but by 2pm it was getting busy. I recommend booking an early table if you want to avoid missing out. We both ordered the lamb roast, which arrived promptly and in large portions. They even gave us extra gravy without charging us, which was a nice touch. The mint sauce was deliciously thick and the food was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The lamb was particularly tender and there was plenty of it. The only downside was that the food was a bit cold, possibly due to the open door to the garden area. However, I didn't mind too much since the food was still tasty. My friend had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert and I enjoyed a strong, full-bodied white coffee. All this for less than £20 per person was great value for money. The service was efficient and on point."

"The food was tasty, but the service was odd. We were left with empty plates for 30-40 minutes after our meal without being asked if we wanted anything else. When we went to leave, we had to pay on the way out and noticed that a tip had been automatically added to the bill, which made us think they don't prioritize good service. Additionally, it didn't look professional for a manager to reprimand a staff member in front of customers - these issues should be addressed privately."

"I was so looking forward to this big night out and have to say I was left very dissapointed. On arrival at the door I was handed two flyers for buy one drink get one free. This was at 1925. After struggling to find your restaurant in the darkness I was greeted by a staff member and shown to a large booth. There was a large party on a Christmas night out occupying the length of the room. It took 25 minutes for our drinks to arrive as it seemed to take 5 staff members to serve this table of 30! We were then handed our menu which compared to the online menu was reduced considerably much to our dissapointment. Your website mentions no alterations during December. We chose our food and the starters arrived relatively quickly. After our initial dissapointment at the poor service it was somewhat redeemed by a gift bag containing a Christmas card, sweets and more drinks vouchers. We ordered 3 drinks each (expensive cocktails) pleased with our vouchers that we were only paying for 3 of the 6. On trying to redeem these I was then informed the promtion finished at 1900 note I was at a 1930 dinner reservation!! Not at 2100 as advertised on the vouchers. I was then informed by the surly girl that Tiger Tiger have the right to remove or alter these promotions at any time. Nicely done legal eagle!! Overall. Totally gutted. My nice mother daughter Newcastle trip that we saved so hard for was ruined. Not even a genuine apology from anyone. I wont be back. Oh and your toilets are disgusting!!!"

"terrible service, the waiting staff came three times within one minute of sitting down, I felt like I was being rushed, so they could use the table again. when the food came it was quite good, but there was no cutlery, we had to ask three separate times for things that were missing. when i asked for the bill it took another ten minutes to get it paid. this restaurant was recommended as the best in Tetbury, I hate to think what the others must be like, no thanks! I won't take a recommendation like this again. I was taking my aunt out to lunch and I was frankly embarrassed , expensive and not good."

I tried to redeem one of the drink vouchers, only to be told that the promotion had ended at 1900, even though my dinner reservation was at 1930. The staff member then informed me that the restaurant had the right to change or remove promotions at any time. Overall, my mother-daughter trip to Newcastle was ruined by the disappointing experience, and I do not plan on returning. Plus, the restrooms were not well-maintained."

"No record of booking on turning up, therefore no allergy on record. Staff inattentive and largely absent. We were shoved in a corner next to a wall. Forgot my half of the drink order; I asked for coffee and they brought out a cafetiere with just water in it. Food came out well into booking time, items removed (not substituted) because of my allergy even though I flagged it on my booking. Toni was great in checking in after and boxed up what we felt we couldn't eat because we had run out of time. Wasn't sure what to expect price wise because it's not clear on the website but have had much better teas for that cost. It's a shame because we hadn't been before. Is the missed booking because you take from multiple booking sources? A bit disappointing, we probably won't do it again."

"Really nice restaurant attached to lively pub. Service very attentive, and when there was a slight mix up on the order it was rectified within seconds! Food was really good and very decent portions. Shame there were no ribs left but chicken burgers were great with proper chicken and ace sweet potato fries. Tandoori whitebait was an excellent starter. Lovely place to spend an evening."
