"We went to The Drake 3 times over a one month period with visiting family and friends, because it is very close to our flat while living in Glasgow. The atmosphere is great and the service was excellent. However, the food was only so-so given that this is billed as a gastro-pub. The first experience was great, and the food was really good. We then went to the Sunday roast dinner, and were disappointed to see that there was no cauliflower cheese (as advertised), and the sticky toffee pudding was all gone by the time we arrived at 5:45. The Yorkshire pudding did not taste quite fresh, or made of fresh ingredients. The substituted ice cream sundae lacked some of the advertised ingredients. The third meal we had there last week and the vegetable curry contained fairly few intact vegetables, except for several strips of uncooked red pepper. The crispy onions, advertised as an accompaniment, were not present and we had to ask for them. I'd love to see this place thrive but the kitchen staff needs to do a better job. I can't strictly pan the place as it has great vibes and a named local brew, but in restaurant-heavy Glasgow, more is needed."
