"Professional Review Firstly I must say this is my most favourite local Italian restaurant they never fail to please and I can’t believe Ive only just reviewed now! For starters I had the Halloumi starter. The halloumi was cooked to perfection and the salad was fresh, the portion size was more that enough. The sweet Chile sauce was tasty and not over powering. For the mains I went for the margarita pizza (back to basics) with a side order of fries. The pizza was very tasty came out nice and hot with a nice crispy crust cooked to perfection.The tomato base was tasty and home made and the cheese and mozzarella was absolutely loverly.The fries were cooked well just slightly to oily. The chocolate fudge cake was loverly aswell! Regarding the environment I always feel very welcomed and adequately catered for. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is never over crowded or to loud and always warm and homely and not overly expensive! This place is a hidden Gem and maybe that’s why I’ve kept it to myself for so long but I recommend this as my top rated restaurant in hull! Signing off Plus 1 side reviews"

"first-class food at a very good price. I was often in this excellent restaurant and was amazed to read a review that asks the hygiene and maintenance of the personal. my wife and I always choose the olive for one night and have never experienced anything other than the first class courtesy service. it has always met me as a very clean and well presented restaurant. eating is of the highest quality and the personal is always attentive. we often go for the two cursor days that cannot be beaten at £14.95. our favorite start is the Haloumi salad and the fish main courses are excellent. I think this is a hygienic, clean restaurant and one that I would recommend to anyone looking for great food, well presented and served with care and attention."

"I was booked in with a group of friends, some of whom I had not seen for a while in person because of covid. I ordered from the early bird menu and had the Sardine Arancia followed by the Scaloppa Dijonese with sauté potatoes. I...was thinking of having a dessert as well when I arrived but was so full after the very generous portions of these that I had just an Americano coffee instead. Indeed the portions were so generous that some in the party were unable to manage just a main course. A box was provided to allow the remainder of a pizza to be taken home. The Sardine Arancia served spatchcock' style in light batter were full of flavour and the various strong flavours in the dish blended extremely well with each other. The sauce that the Scaloppa Dijonese came in was subtly flavoured. However the sauté potatoes were a little dry and this is the only reason why the food has been rated rather than Given the promptness of the service they might have been cooked a little while in advance and kept warm rather than cooked to order. The service was both friendly and very prompt. Either the kitchen is extremely well organised and run or most of the dishes were almost ready to serve before they were ordered. I would like to return here to sample more of the dishes on the menu."

"Went here with the wife and kids for our annual Christmas Eve meal and safe to say I wasn’t disappointed. The food, the service, it was all excellent. A fine young man was always there and ready to deliver. As soon as we entered we were greeted and taken straight to our table, that had Christmas crackers on (a great surprise), and after a quick glance at the menu, offered a drink. Soon after we were greeted again by the always smiling staff and chose our food. As a starter me and the wife both got a classic bruschetta which is just like the ones we had last year in Italy and the boys had onion rings (that of course I stole by the end) and all was fantastic. Then after myself had the (as we Englishmen would call it) the lobster pasta and safe to say it was a sensation on the tastebuds, my wife had a swinging chicken skewer that I’ve been told was better than what she was expecting and both of my sons stuck with the safe option of spaghetti bolognese. Throughout the meal we got offered more drinks by the ever so helpful staff and got asked how everything was which of course was perfect. After a few pints, a few cocktails and countless amounts of coke the evening came to an end and the bill came to a reasonable total of and for the fantastic service I gave a tip. We will definitely be going again and I would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of going!"

"We were a large party with kids from 4 to 94, the staff couldn't do enough to cater for everyone. Food was delivered to the table in such a way that the kids were kept occupied, not that the staff minded when they were running around. When the food was delivered it was lovely, everything from the kids pizzas to the fancy adult pasta really hit the mark. I will definitely be going back to try a more intimate dinner."

"Visited Zucca in East Kilbride with 22 people for a pre-wedding night dinner for my friend and all her loved ones. Marcus and the team were nothing less than spectacular! From the point of booking, nothing was a hassle. All 22 of us were seated, orders taken, food arrived and left without a glitch! I was initially nervous about having such a large party, having phoned other places who were reluctant to seat us due to the sheer size of the party. However Marcus was great to link in with for booking. The food was absolutely delicious, particularly the tirimasu. My partner and I even commented that it was the best tiramisu we have ever tasted. All food arrived without any issues, hot and fresh. The staff were all super friendly too! All round, 22 people who would love to return to eat at Zucca. Thanks team!"

"We went here with friends. The booking was for 7-0 We got in at 6-55 so they allowed us to have the early bird. My friends pate was served on a bread bun and not Melba toast. The portions are very large they would be better to do smaller portions and better quality food. The minestrone soup was good. The prawn cocktail I had was large and not much taste would have preferred less and better prawns. The spicy meat ball starter was nice. The mozzarella starter was nice. The bread served with the meal was very dry and tasted a little stale. Should have been served warm. The mains were spinach and ricotta cheese lasagne far too much spinach and hardly any cheese. Our friend said the pizza was nice. The chicken a la cream the sauce tasted like Campbell’s soup. The salmon was good the best bit of the meal, the mash was like smash instant the bro all I over cooked kept warm for too long. The chips were too many and tasteless not very Italian. The veg was not bad good choice. Carrots were nice. The portions were so large we were stuffed and no room for pudding. They need to focus on smaller portions and better quality food. Excluding salmon which was lovely. The service was very very slow. The chairs were very uncomfortable. Although most of the food was palatable it was not good. We would not eat there again. There are better Italian restaurants in Halifax. Ok for pizza and salmon mini stone so.up there the story ends Disappointed"

"Never heard a bad word said about this place and there's good reason why. I don't often dine out at this pricepoint but as is often the case, paying more means a better experience. Wonderfully attentive service and a nice environment (the only criticism I could level is that a light would turn on and then off on a maybe 10-15 minute cycle, like a very slow strobe light lol). The food was fantastic, had the Cypriot meatballs which were soft, tender and juicy, fillet steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare just as I requested and some divine ice cream/sorbet for dessert. I only drank Coke but my friend had cocktails which she thoroughly enjoyed. Would (and will) gladly visit again in future!"

"really sad to leave this review! as they can see from previous reviews here on google, I have always been a big fan of this restaurant and has been here regularly since its first opening. I feel that food standards are slipping. a little. Last couple times I was there something or others wasn't great. or sometimes eating is ok, but service really slow. all this is still acceptable, as I have still declined. last time I ordered the homemade focaccia I received a few of the smallest bites I wish I had made a photo. it was quite appalling for £4.25 and they were rock hard! I managed to get my money back for this article about ubereats and I forgot the experience. today I ordered ubereats again and this time I tried the gluten-free garlic bread. I'm in shock! It's hard and thin like a tortilla and there were only 3 pieces. I eat gluten-free much so that this is really unacceptable to me for an Italian restaurant. it is certainly not worth the £5 I was loaded and also hardly edible really! I'm really sad to leave the review, but I felt it necessary as I had a few bad visits now. I might have to think again before I get eaten/ordered again."

"I have been meaning to post this review for weeks but kept forgetting and remembered because I've booked to go to the restaurant tonight! We ordered a takeaway from Linguine a few weeks ago and we eat kind of later in the evening. It was through Deliveroo. The restaurant called me and said that they were closing because they were quiet and had called off the drivers. So instead of just cancelling our order, they cooked it still and delivered it to us personally on their way home!! Now that is looking after your local customers! So I will absolutely support them buy being a loyal customer too. The food was fresh, deliciously tasty and hot. Above and beyond for sure. Thank you Linguine and see you tonight at 8pm for 2! "Beautiful birthday meal for my grandchild and family, where the food and service was excellent. The restaurant was quite busy, but despite this the drinks, appetizers and main courses, where delivered with perfect timing and the quality and amount of each meal was on place. The menu was quite extensive with a lot of choice for all, with the mixed grill is a challenge for even the most hearty appetite, and meals also value for money. The staff was very attentive and amusing and even came with a surprising birthday dessert for the birthday boy and sang happy birthday all in an excellent night out."

"We always enjoy dining at this restaurant because the food and service are consistently excellent. Unfortunately, during one of our meals, we found an unexpected ingredient in our salad - a live slug. The waitress was very apologetic and promptly replaced the meal, but after having already eaten half of it, we were hesitant to order another. When the bill arrived, we were surprised to see that we were charged the full amount. Upon questioning this, as we believed the meal was not up to standard, the manager was unhelpful and only reluctantly removed the charge for one dessert. He seemed to believe that replacing the meal was sufficient compensation, despite none of us actually consuming our salads. The evening was ultimately spoiled by the manager's dismissive attitude."

"We have been eating here on a regular basis for a while now. We have taken friends as well as just going as a couple. It is positioned above the Jolly sailor pub so beware there are stairs to climb. There are seats as you enter along with a bar and a room at the back as well. Paula has a wonderful display of photographs from Italy on display to give it a more authentic feel.We have always been warmly welcomed by the staff and you definitely should book to avoid disappointment, they do have a lot of regulars.We have also visited on special occasions such as Halloween, Valentine's Day and new Year's Eve. On these occasions there are always additions to the usual menu or in the case of NYE a set menu which had to be pre ordered.There are always home made bread buns awaiting you followed by another treat on the house. The menu is varied and there is always a specials blackboard. The starter selection is varied but if you plan a dessert go hungry as the starters are definitely not mean portions.We have tried pretty much all the menu between us and whether your taste is pizza, pasta, meat or fish you will not be disappointed. A dish of either veg of gorgeous chunky chips comes with your main from the meat and fish and a side of salad is enough for two should you opt for that.The desserts are very reasonably priced and often have a seasonal special on them. Coffees are a good price and the wine selection is varied and again a decent price. There are a few typically Italian cocktails on offer too.At the end of the meal you are offered a digestif to set you on your way. We have been in a large group for an outing and they cope steadily with delivery of the meals to all without a long gap.The real draw is the friendly welcome and the kindness the staff display along with the obvious hard work to please the customers.Alex has a dry wit and is delighted if you have a good evening.There is a happy hour from 5 with 25% off menu prices.It is closed on a Sunday except for special occasions."

"It’s my sons 9th birthday today and I decided to take him to try the best pizza in the area. Called up and spoke to the owner who managed to book us a table last minute for 7pm. We ordered a couple of lemonades and 1X 12 inch meat pizza between me and my son which had sausage, chicken, ham and cheese. The pizza was so fresh, delicious and very lite that we ordered a second one and after that we were stuffed. I supplied a chocolate cake and the owner/chef brought the cake out with candles and sung happy birthday to my son. It was a beautiful moment and was so nice of him to do that. This is the best pizza place I’ve been to plus the friendly staff etc made us feel very welcome. Thank you very much for everything I will be bringing my son and mum back here very soon. I think it’s going to be my son and I new place to go. Don’t hesitate to call to book table now you will wish you booked sooner!!!!"

"I'd been looking forward to a meal out at the Drovers for quite some time as I had heard great things about it. I was there with other people, of whom had lovely meals. I, however, had the beefburger which was a thick, solid, tough, unyielding lump of cooked mince. It didn't seem to be flavoured with anything but maybe I have an unsophisticated palate. It was over-cooked I think It might just have been an off-day for the chef. It wouldn't put me off going there again. The staff were lovely as was the restaurant itself and the gardens. As I said, the other people in my group loved their meals."

"the best eating in west by far, this wonderful Greek restaurant, always supplies every time. the atmosphere is relaxed, at home and the staff and manager are super friendly and welcoming, and the great thing is that they remember, take them time to talk to them., just this extra touch. we went with friends and had the appetizers of mushrooms in brandy and cream sauce, with delicious broth to accompany this. mains, where my favorite, bark stiffado with kartoffels cooked the Greek wise, always superb each time. had cream brulée, which had rubbed orange in them excellent. Do not miss this jewel of an ortes it is the best, and the music later in the evening with many of us dancing, rounded a perfect evening here, we can not wait to visit every one of them so much that we can always go back so"
