"Was a wonderful afternoon Tea, second to none. I have had tea at many other 5* places and this beats them all hands down. The food was amazing and the in house baker is incredible, those scones omg to die for. The staff are lovely, courteous and knowledgeable and it was a special experience. The waiter was lovely and very accommodating to all of our requests. The staff presented themselves professionally and it was a pleasure to have had the high standard you obviously are succeeding in setting. The grounds are looking immaculate, the decor is lovely. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon for my date with my hubby. Can't recommend this enough."

"I have eaten at this restaurant at least half-a-dozen times, evening and lunch. This time it was Sunday lunch and the setvice was poor, not the staff particularly, though they did not notice that we had been waiting 45 minutes to be served our meal. One of the vegetables was listed as red cabbage but we were served green cabbage, without any apology."

"We were quite possibly one of the Lock and Quay's more unusual customers being a party of 15 arriving in 7 narrowboats at Willowtree Marina. I knew in advance that the restaurant had been booked out for a private party but even so Denise agreed for her kitchen to provide a take away for us all. We had drinks in the bar first (which was lively as the party was just getting underway! and the at 7.00 p.m. on the dot our orders came out of the kitchen beautifully packaged with individually named bags. We split in to two groups and took our meals back to the boats. Everyone remarked both how enjoyable their meal has been, I think some were pleasantly surprised and also what a good choice the menu provides. Anyway after the meal we returned to the restaurant where some of us sampled a few post prandial drinks which Denise kindly let us enjoy in one of the pods. So overall this was a great experience and one to look forward to again in the future. "Attending Browns for a Christmas Dinner with my wife. Tldr: The food was fantastic, but the atmosphere was lacking and the live music timing was moved. We have attended Browns a few times before over the years for different events and decided for it as the Christmas date night for my wife and I. We specifically booked after 7 on a Sunday as we were told that live music would be played after that time and we wanted that ambience (we have been before when piano music was playing). When we got there we found that the live music had ended at 7, so we had booked later for no reason. Instead of the quiet and romantic evening we planned, the venue was very very bright, loud music was playing and although the staff were attentive we felt it lacking. The wine was very expensive for what it was (you expect a 40 quid bottle to be more than 1 year old and not a screw top, at least), and looked, smelled, and tasted like a 7 quid bottle from Tesco. The food was amazing, we had the festive menu and it was splendid. The portion sizes were good too. I would mark it 6/10 for the night we expected. But we may return if loud and bright is needed (like a friends night out meal for example) but definitely not a romantic time."

"Went for express lunch menu. 2 ordered the Mediterranean salad topped with choice of grilled chicken breast or halloumi. There was no mention anywhere that both items were an extra cost. £3.50 and £2.50 respectively. Waiter wasn’t much help when we queried it and sadly we refused to pay the service charge, which he also queried despite it being “optional”. First time we’ve had an issue."

"The White Horse Edgworth is a friendly country pub located in the beautiful village of Edgworth in the West Pennine Moors. "My wife and I went for a meal here near end July 2024. The place was nearly empty. Little atmosphere or ambience. We both had Sea Bass for main coarse....and duly our meal arrived. Nice sea bass...but very small and served on a ton of risotto (to fill out the meal , I presume). All tasty enough. But the meal was expensive for what we got and poor value for money. "Bad service the whole way through. I can see that the restaurant has told other reviewers that they have checked their CCTV . I would love for you to check the CCTV and see what we saw! I am only posting this as your restaurant contacted OpenTable to state we were no shows. Unfortunately we did show. How did you miss us in a practically empty restaurant? We had to chase for water, napkins, plates, condiments etc. Took a napkin from the empty table next to us eventually. 5 mins later a femal staff member walked over and dumped about 10 napkins on our table and walked away. Aggressive much! The quickest part was getting the bill. My partner was served a cocktail that was approximately 1 sip and it was gone as the Martini glass resembled something from a doll 's house play set. Staff openly talking about us in ear shot huff, puff, what do they want , WHAT 'S WRONG yelled from the bar when we requested another drink from a waitress. Food... Garlic bread? Covered in rosemary, couldn 't find/see/taste garlic. Burger bun a brick, chips cooked on the outside not the middle and my chicken was so dry it peeled and was like string. Checked the review site before we went and saw 4.3 so thought this will be great. As meal became worse and worse we read the comments in the reviews. Filter anything from the last 4-6 months and it 's ALL bad. I am assuming I am too going to be called malicious as a previous review was and I see they had a real similar experience to us. No wonder it was practically empty at 9pm on a sat night. We won 't be going back. Refused to pay service which they after a fashion fianlly broken hearted it seemed accepted but we 're so disappointed. The venue looks beautiful, menu looks great and there were 2 staff members out if the team of 6 or so who we saw, who when they appeared were not particulary helpful but the whole experience was shocking. £80+ for 2 people, 2 mains a sharer starter, 4 drinks and 2 sides for what we got in hindsight unacceptable I should have argued for most of the food to be removed from the bill. Food and anbienc should be renamed Food and Ambulace. The manager sists there watching his CCTV and the owner is raking it in from unsuspecting guests and no doubt pays his staff a pittance so thats why they and the unqualified chef act like this .They need to learn manners. Imagine this lot on a cookery show each week as they would all be evicted on the first eviction date or Lord Sugar would fire the whole lot and ask for a new set of customers.Why are people so dishonest as its theft of you hard earned cash.Dispicable."

"Well I will start with the good points friendly staff and reasonable priced drinks. That’s where it ends we have visited a couple of times to see if our first visit was a one off bad experience. Unfortunately this was not the case people openly vaping in the bar each time we visited with the staff turning a blind eye. On one visit to the gents a couple of young men openly waiting to get into the cubicle and audible snorting and then leaving a couple of seconds later. The place appears to be quite so I can see why the management don’t want to confront these people and possibly lose the trade whoever it’s counter productive as decent people will not want to visit with this sort of thing going on. Green king needs to get a grip as this establishment is supposed to be family friendly I for one wouldn’t take children there. They need to be reported to the local authority as I’m sure they will be breaking the terms of the license."

"The service from start to finish was slow and poor. We had to request our drinks, the food was dry and unappetizing. The pasta was heavy, the steak didn't resemble steak, and the egg on the schnitzel was overcooked and tough. When we asked the waiter to clean the table after our main course, he mistakenly sprayed it with detergent, getting some on us. The desserts were average at best. Despite arriving at 6:30 PM to an empty restaurant, the food quality and service were extremely disappointing. We had assumed the restaurant would remain open until midnight as stated on their website, but the staff informed us that they typically closed around 8 PM when business slowed. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant."

"I usually don't write reviews, but I feel the need to do so now. My husband and I went to Browns on a Friday evening. I anticipated it being crowded and busy, but I did not expect the poor service we received. The evening started off well with our drinks and starter arriving promptly. However, our waitress forgot to place our meal order which resulted in a long wait for our main course. Despite her apology, we waited a considerable amount of time for our food, even watching other tables get served twice before us. The wait for our check was also extended. Our once cheerful and friendly waitress seemed to sense our dissatisfaction, as she disappeared and we waited 15 minutes for our check which she brought with a scowl. The food was decent, but the overall service was lacking."

"I think the majority of the reviews here are influenced by the good attention that is provided at the restaurant otherwise it would be hard for me to understand how they give more than 2 stars to the food. I visited this restaurant today with my family and friends and we were super disappointed, starting with some white loaf bread straight out from the bag and some foiled wrapped butter, followed by a super basic salad with 5 extra thin soggy battered calamari’s on top and a super ordinary dressing. The main was not bad but nothing special taking in consideration that you’d pay £35 for the two courses meal or £43 for the three courses. We feel that we were ripped off, terrible experience. "Been going here since it opened and always felt it well priced, imaginative food and good ingredients. Last night it could only claim to be one of the three. The flavour of the scallops in my starter was killed stone dead by the spicyness of...the XO sauce which was good in itself, but the scallops belonged nowhere near it. My main of fish cakes and prawns was a disaster due to the poor quality of the ingredients. My hake a grey colour and mushy, not the firm white glistening piece of fish I would expect for a dish. The prawns also soft and mushy, clearly not fresh. The fish cakes were in fact potato croquettes fish in these was nonexistent. My dining partners dish of lamb was dry and as a slo cooked piece of meat one would expect the opposite. I suspect not freshly made for it to eventually dry out like that. His gnocchi hard from being re heated and fried, the element of mint was there but fading. Service was average as our table piled up with empty glasses and an empty water bottle I had to pile them to the side to make it obvious. White and rose wines are chilled to death. Its a rather annoying trait that they swirl ice in each glass to make it cold then pour refrigerated wine into it. A Viognier I ordered was barely recognisable. The rose I suspect oxidised by living a long lonely life in the fridge. It was drinkable though. Trip advisor need to update prices here. Starters are and mains start at for chicken and for veggie option but most with fish and chips Gone is the early bird menu."

"Booked a table for 4 on Saturday 24th August at 6:30pm. The welcome was fabulous and we were quickly shown to a lovely table. The restaurant area was well spaced making it feel open and uncrowded, even though they were very well attended. The staff were exceptional very efficient and always made sure that we were looked after and had everything that we needed. Despite our constant chatter and forgetting to read the menus, the staff were extremely patient and we did not feel rushed or pressured into making orders. Once we had ordered, the food cam in really good time. I had crab to start and my companions had scallops. All of it was perfect beautifully prepared and tasted wonderful. Our main courses arrived within good time also sea bass and chicken supreme. All of the food was absolutely wonderful and the service was brilliant. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Fabulous food, service and I thought it was really good value. Many thanks to all."

"This is a fantastic spot for a business lunch. The menu features an impressive variety of at least three types of meat and fish, which is not something you find often. The dishes are particularly well-prepared and can double as appetizers. There are also many vegetarian options available. The coconut lavender mocktail was absolutely delightful—so refreshing! I also tried the caramel cheesecake, which was served with berry sorbet; it was elegant and delicious. The restaurant has a very quiet atmosphere, making it easy to converse without straining to hear, thanks to its spacious layout tucked away from the lobby area. There's even a lovely garden area to enjoy."

"the service on a friday night dining at 7.15 was dreadful. Our starter came reasonably promptly but we had to wait 30 minutes for the main. The staff were apologetic when we complained . We felt that there were too few waitresses who were not properly trained. They walked by tables which needed clearing, stopped to sip their drinks at thebar and did not keep a good eye on their customers tables. The bar staff allowed a multitude of dirty glasses to stand on the bar so they then had a huge quantity to wash. so disappointed since Browns are excellent in London. we will definitely not go to the Liverpool Browns again."
