"As a regular customer of rhubarb I was extremely upset to of received such shocking customer service this morning. Myself an partner came for breakfast at 9am and firstly ordered a coffee whilst taking an important phone call we both needed to listen to and so placed the call on speaker as there was not one other person in the building other than the member of staff that greeted us we did not see this as a problem. Throughout the call we were asked 3 times if we were eating and what we wanted to which we replied we were not yet ready to order. Shortly after the member of staff asked us very abruptly to switch off the speaker, to which my partner replied for whom exactly? (As we were the only people there and the music was blaring we could hardly hear ourselves think). She then replied for me!! Shocked at this we decided not to stay for breakfast and instead go down the road to milo (which was lovely and could not fault service). As we paid for our coffees i said to the woman she was in the wrong line of work as she didn’t offer good customer service to which she replied take you private phone calls somewhere else! In shock at how she spoke to us my partner said we would be leaving a review to which she replied she could not wait to read it and shoved us out the door. Not quite sure what the attitude or problem was for maybe woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but said to say will not be returning again and I will look forward to speaking directly with the owner myself."

"This is my second attempt of leaving a review for Dotori in Finsbury Park my first review was deleted by the restaurant I am guessing?...surprise surprise! I was at Dotori in Finsbury Park on the 22nd of March 2022 for my friend 's birthday dinner. I will begin by stating; this was by far the worst customer service and dining experience I ever experienced in and out of London in my life, which is why I am making, again, an attempt at leaving a review as I do not think it is good enough to steal £150 from customers and then expect them not to respond. I will first and foremost state: only visit this place if you are into incredibly rude, mannerless staff, who will do their utmost to treat you horrendously and make you feel used. I am never going back to this place. I will be honest, the food was good; not Marco Pierre White or Nuno Mendes good, but 'sweet, sufficient for a friendly, simple evening '. Considering what 's on offer; the food is way too expensive, which again, is alright, IF the service had been up to some standards, not a standard, any standard at this point. We got to Dotori and were directed to a table downstairs. As soon as we were given menus, we were asked every other minute if we were ready to order mind you; with a member of staff looking over my shoulder to my left, throughout the evening. Once we ordered, we again got asked every other minute ! if we were done, in the middle of a conversation, 'are you done yet? '. At some point another staff member who had been getting ready to leave, put his coat on and said 'did you want your bill? here is your bill '. We went 'but you are still open no ? and we are still drinking '. He then went 'we need to clean downstairs, you need to go upstairs '. We went upstairs, were told they were still open for another half an hour and ordered another beer. About ten minutes later, another staff member told us we had to leave and got rid of our nearly full drinks and directed us to the door. Where to begin. I can 't even express the whole scenario the way I had the first time around. My whole point being; I get you are tired, i get you had a long day and want to leave but there are ways of treating customers, just people in general with a little more respect, decency and tact. I was honestly so shocked about how pushy, aggressive and short they were that neither I nor my friends knew what to say. Also bear in mind; we weren 't there for a £10 meal, milking it and just keeping the place open. Just some food for thought: why did you move us downstairs in the first place if you knew you were going to be overwhelmed or needed or wanted to even shut the restaurant before the stated hour? You could have just let use queue upstairs and then told us 'tonight we 'd like to close in the next hour, take a seat and make your order only stay if this is okay with you '. Instead you took us downstairs, rushed us through our order, our meal, stood by our side whilst we were eating, pushed us around, took our money, didn 't even let us finish or take our drinks and basically told us to get out. People; I never write reviews. Even if I am pissed off, I just let it go. But these guys, really took the mickey on a whole other level and the aggressive atmosphere was just one of a kind. The staff is obviously underpaid or untrained; there is no other reason why they would be this visibly angry, frustrated and really uncaring. Do yourselves and this place a favour by avoiding it. I am surprised a restaurant like this is still in service and about all the 'positive ' reviews. I am guessing the restaurant reports or takes down negative ones as they go. Don 't go, unless you want to have your most horrendous dining experience with a hefty bill at the end."

"Must have been a bad day there?!? Took a long time to come, card machine playing up, flies I saw were walking over the quiches in the counter. It was a hot day, but they can still be covered up like other places do. Sorry, but that wasn 't Pad Thai! More like a Welsh equivalent and call it Bad Dai Firstly used the wrong noodles, more like cut up very soft spaghetti, not much of it too. A very few stems of beansprout, think a very tiny bit of tomato ketchup cooked in to give it an Asian taste?!?! Then most of it was a stir fry veg with no taste. The peanuts are dried, crunched and added to the top later, but this dish had full stir fried in much softer (old? peanuts thrown in when cooking. I don 't think this person has had pad thai before to see how wrong it is. I had to leave it, as it just wasn 't nice. Friendly enough staff at the till though, so I 'll give another star. For the eggs on fried potato, fried potato was ok, but probably upgrade the eggs as they were bland. Thought I had COVID for one minute for lack of taste, but no, popped in for something to eat a few doors away. If the chef reads this, DO NOT TAKE IT AS BAD, take it as constructive criticism!!! Go try Pad Thai other places, and ask them what they do. They won 't mind... Again, I 'm sorry as I cannot go back after that visit, but I always wish any business luck for the future, as I do realize it is hard."

"Visited La Trompette as part of a no corkage BYO wine deal from my wine merchant. Took the allowed bottle each one champagne and one red Bordeaux and settled in for lunch. We started with a **** Mary and a couple of oysters; Dorset rock oysters with tamarillo hot sauce, celery and lime, which were absolutely delicious. We both opted for the starter of Foie gras and chicken liver parfait, Muscat jelly, toasted pistachios and brioche, which was light and creamy, with a generous slice of brioche. The pistachios added texture and the muscat jelly a decadent sweetness. The champagne was an excellent accompaniment. For mains, my wife had Suffolk pork rib eye with pumpkin puree, fondant potato, trompettes, capers, sage and crackling, and I had the Veal rump and glazed cheek with creamed polenta, roasted tomato and gremolata. Two clean plates were delivered back to the kitchen! A lovely combination of flavours and textures. We then opted to share a cheese plate to accompany the last of the red wine, and the cheese choices were excellent. My dessert was malt custard with toasted almond ice cream and cocoa nib bricelet, and it was sublime a glass of Sauternes was it's natural bedfellow! I greatly enjoyed chatting to Donald, the very engaging and knowledgeable sommelier, and all the waiting staff were efficient, and very pleasant. All in all, a very satisfying and delicious lunch, and a great find. We will certainly return!"
