"I’ve been meaning to write a review of this place for some time...tucked away behind the shopping centre, I and my family come back here every time we visit Leicester town centre. It’s a cosy and friendly little place where you can get a great cuppa (my mum can vouch) or a good coffee. We’ve had fabulous breakfasts, light lunches and delicious late afternoon meals (the carbonara is a particular favourite) all beautifully cooked with good ingredients. The service is very friendly, the chef is really good and although we have waited a little while for our food on one or two occasions, the wait has never been excessive and it’s because it is cooked to order and arrives piping hot. The decor is eclectic and they support local artists with art for purchase on the walls and other bits and pieces for sale, if you like a browse as you wait. Highly recommended."

Amazing food, great atmosphere and music, friendly staff. We loved checking out the paintings and little shop featuring local artists.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food, desserts, cocktails, setting, and staff are all beautiful and independent. Absolutely fantastic.

Great service and food, it would have been 5 if they were open on time ; . We will 100% go again, the pancakes were the best I’ve had in years.

Enjoyed a very pleasant lunch here yesterday. Varied menu with some specials. Home cooked. Veggie and vegan options. Reasonably priced. Relaxed ambience. Would recommend. View menu

Why this place isn’t rammed to the rafters all day, I don’t know. Good value, mega portions and clearly cooked to order. I’m ashamed I’ve never been in before to be honest. As for the music??? Sold

We had the wrap party for our show here and the food was out of this world. Very generous portions all prepared to perfection. Everyone had a fantastic time and we all left in a full jolly mood. You must check this place out. Slightly off the beaten track but a hidden Leicester gem worth seeking out.

I'm so happy we made the decision to go out of our usual way to try James' restaurant. We ordered the flash burger and mac n cheese to share, and it was incredibly indulgent but absolutely delicious. The cocktails were also top-notch, especially the espresso martini and margarita! We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant wasn't too crowded, which created a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be returning soon. View menu

I happened to find this cafe/bistro by accident today, whilst shopping with my mum and 3 year old daughter. What a find, it was great! Really lovely vibe with great artwork inside, some available to buy too. They had a great soundtrack playing and I had the best Spanish omelette I've ever had! Great portion sizes and the food we all had was delicious another lovely touch was that my daughter was given a free lolly for Halloween season. The lady who served us was lovely and we will certainly be back again, thanks :

Possibly the best vegetarian breakfast available in Leicester. Upon arrival, you are greeted with a warm welcome and cool, eclectic music playing, as well as local artists' work on display. James Cafe Bistro is just as cool on the inside as it is from the outside. The vegetarian breakfast was sensational, with hints of garlic in the mushrooms, home-grown rosemary in the potatoes, and vegan black pudding with beans on the side. The flavors and quality of the ingredients were outstanding. The wait for the food was reasonable, and the surroundings were wonderful. Great food, excellent service, and a fabulous environment make this joint one of my top breakfast spots. Highly recommended! #simonea...

"Went here last night at the tail end of an office Christmas party and we stumbled (quite literally inside having been turned away at a restaurant next door. It was past closing though their OPEN sign was still on. Anyway! Although Oppa was just about to close, they took us in, a group of 6, and stayed open until we finished. When I realized we were in a Korean restaurant, I was so excited; I've been searching for a good Korean restaurant in the midlands. My colleagues were much less so as they had never had Korean food and were unfamiliar with everything on the menu. I ordered for everyone and despite some of them being difficult one colleague kept asking for samosas, aah! the service was faultless. Staff were super attentive and helpful, patient, friendly, good fun, and extremely accommodating. Just perfect! And they stayed open for us quite late without rushing us out, what more can you ask for? Ok, so the food. It was SO so good and I'm already planning to go back. The kimchi was bang on how I like (a big deciding factor for me strongly fermented/pickled and spicy, and fresh. All the bulgogi (marinated meat , dolsot bibimbap (sizzling rice bowl , jjigae (stew/ramen style soups , seafood and extras that were served tasted just like I had hoped they would. Presentation was great everything looked properly appetizing and vegetables and seafood, etc were all clean and fresh. I was too busy stuffing my face and enjoying the moment and company to take photos, but the few photos I've seen on here are true to life. Other things people might be interested in: This restaurant is kitted out to cook Korean BBQ at/in/on your table. It is spacious, with lots of tables and room to move around. Decor is tasteful and minimal. It is clean and indeed I was warned by staff when going upstairs to the ladies' to be careful as the stairs and the toilets had all just been cleaned (and clean they were! . If you're looking for good Korean food, look no further. If you're looking to try Korean food for the first time, this is a great place to start. Go for it! Might see you there, if I can help it :D [I've copied this review over from where I originally posted it because this listing and the one for OPPA in Leicester are the same exact restaurant, FYI]"
