"Our first visit to this delightful family run restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday. We visited in the evening and were able to park right outside. The restaurant has a pleasant ambience. The staff were very welcoming and service throughout was very attentive without being intrusive. The menu offers a wide choice and we each selected 3 different steak cuts which were well cooked to our request. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. A nice touch was to add a lighted candle to my wife's dessert and orchestrate a chorus of happy birthday. An excellent experience only 4 stars for atmosphere but we ate early and I'm sure when it is full, the atmosphere will be 5 star vibrant. Thank you."

"Excellent food! The focaccia starter was a little overpriced for what it was, but still tasty. However, the main courses more than made up as they were both delicious and although not large portions, were a good size and a lot better than many places. I had the pork belly/pork loin with dauphinoise and savoy; my other half had the goats cheese and cranberry filo with orange and chickpea salad. Would be happy to recommend both dishes. The dessert was the real standout though. The lemon curd and passionfruit Eton mess was the choice for both of us, and it was simply superb. Little things made it so good, like the homemade meringue that was much denser than normal meringue, and the liberal application of fruit (always a bugbear of mine with this dish elsewhere). The staff were very friendly, helpful and just seemed like a really nice cheerful bunch of folks. All in all an excellent experience. This was my first visit in almost 25 years, but I'll be back again for a third visit soon!"

"I have to agree with previous reviews and I hoped I would be mistaken. We went here today with my sister and sister in law as a pre bridesmaid lunch treat which I told them beforehand when I booked. They couldn't even give me what I'd requested which was a window seat in a booth overlooking the golf course. The food was extremely pricey for what it was and the portions very small. The service was extremely slow and pretty cheeky to add a £20 service charge . The meal cost almost £200 and we didn't even buy alcohol. I could have spent half of that and got somewhere equally as nice with better service. Feel like I've been robbed. It's time you sorted this out. I won't be back any time soon."

"My family and I had a pre-Christmas meal at the Hoddington Arms. We were greeted warmly and the service we received throughout our meal was exceptional. Our waitress was friendly and talkative, offering menu suggestions and knowledge of the wine list. The food was beautifully presented and cooked to our specifications. "We had booked but arrived early and was seated. However, had to ask to get a drink, was not offered water at any point or condiments unlike every other table around us. The main course literally arrived within seconds of the last mouthful of our starter. The waiter who served us looked like he had been dragged in from the homeless shelter! I think a standard of attire is to be expected in a restaurant, rather than the most creased up jeans we have ever seen, hardly gives you confidence in your server. We always tip but this time we didn't feel we could do so and asked for the 13.5% service charge that was automatically added to the bill to be removed. The windows looked like they had never seen a window cleaner, considering the location and revenue this place must get we found it extremely poor."

"Very disappointing. I booked private room for my 50th and had someone come to decorate room before arriving she advised me that the manager Darren was rude to her when she arrived and told her to stop whilst he was speaking to some random person. I was advised £20 per head and I paid for extra 2 as they couldn’t go but didn’t want to say. Now checking bill I have been given a £30 service charge which I was never advised about. After settling drinks and food bill no one came to me and asked if everything was ok, so we just up and left even though we had room for another hour and half. Wasn’t willing to spend any more money. Will say food was lovely and bar staff was pleasant enough. But just found the guy Darren very off not sure if he owner or manager but seriously needs to brush up on manners if he wants people though that door! Everyone asked me today how Bistro 210 was gave them the honest answer won’t be back!"

"This place is an incredible gem. Please make a stop here if you can! We came on a Sunday and had a delicious Sunday roast with homemade everything. The halloumi fries were delicious and of course, the sticky toffee pudding was perfect. The service was above and beyond and we wish we could describe how great of a time we had."

"For the past 16 years, we have been visiting Tylney Hall, eagerly anticipating the exceptional service, accommodations, and dining experiences. The staff is absolutely delightful, and we love it so much that we got married there four years ago on the first day of spring, and we celebrate various anniversaries there each year. This year, we brought our Cockerpoo puppies and enjoyed a lovely garden space covered in snow. The room was absolutely fabulous, and Jackson had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the food. "Very disappointing considering I was told it was one of the best places to go for a roast in York. It started with one waiter stating he needed to check if they had defrosted any more chicken…. There were two hairs in my food one hidden under my chicken breast and one wrapped around a parsnip. The dish was replaced but the food was sub par not to the standard we had been told. No one came back to the table to check on the food, my mother in laws food was like warm even tho she asked for it to be as hot as they could make it. A mild apology and £4 off the bill for two hairs which put me off my food and everything was just overly disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and I certainly won’t go back."

"Total failure to meet Indigo’s basic promise of pre theater meal. We booked this restaurant from the US specifically because of its promise of its pre theatre special menu and service. We relied on their local knowledge and advise and booked at 6 for a 7:30 curtain . We Arrived at 6:05 delayed by an misdirected Uber) and seated promptly and ordered the simplest pre theatre menu after we confirmed our theatre plans and need for extra time as slow walkers. They confirmed no issues. Food and drink was fine but no time to eat as the entree arrived 10 minutes before our required departure time. If you can’t meet your promise, don’t promise. Totally failed."

"Our table was laid ready and waiting for us, but the tables were incredibly close to each other and we chatted to diners next to us as we were seated so closely. Salmon and Fennel was very disappointing and, although the side order of chips was fine, there was no vegetables to order with my meal. Desserts were very good. Service OK, but needed to attract staff at times to progress our order. Perfectly situated for our concert at The London Palladium and very grateful to have our table reserved, but main meals underwhelming."

"I have heard good things about The Oak Room and we were not disappointed, except upon arrival they did not seem to have our reservation. However, we were quickly seated and enjoyed drinks in the lounge before our meal in the main restaurant. After inquiring if it was a special occasion, it was a nice touch to have my wife's dessert served with a birthday message while a pianist played a quiet rendition of Happy Birthday. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable, making for a very pleasant evening that will definitely bring us back for another visit."

"We had my Father's Wake at The George one mid afternoon a couple of weeks ago. We had about 80 guests and were able to use the back room and also spill out into the main areas of the pub. Claire and her team were incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming. All the guest really enjoyed the Afternoon Tea that was provided. We even took lots of cake home as there was so much. The atmosphere was relaxed and calm and it gave my Mum and the rest of our friends and family a comfortable and stress free location to celebrate the life of my father. Thank you to everyone at The George for making everything so easy. Much appreciated!"

"New Management. I discovered this cafe 3 years ago when a lovely brunette girl by the name Jerry and her mother Sonya had taken over management. For 3 years the cafe has worked like clockwork with amazingly cheap comfort food. The family have run this cafe with love tha reflected on the way they treated their customers. I have witnessed members of staff hugging other customers and I myself have neen given several freebies. The chef (mother) even baked her own spinach cake and allowed me to try it for free. Unfortunately, this family have left and have been replaced by a new group of people who should not be allowed to run a cafe. Even the cakes are what you would get for £10 in Costco....read more"

"This was our fourth attempt at dining at this restaurant. Despite the big sign outside saying it was open, it was closed when we came three previous occasions. The car park is dimly lit, with no marked bays, and there is no indication of where you should park. There are plant pots along one edge which you cannot see in the dark, so can easily scratch your car. The restaurant is nicely laid out but looks like a function room, waiting for the tables to be removed for the next function. On the table setting the knives faced outwards, which I had never seen in a restaurant before, but the tables looked nice. I ordered a Diet Coke, which arrived lukewarm with a single small ice cube in it and no lemon. It tasted like Coke Zero, much sweeter than Diet Coke. We started with the mini pappadums, which were not totally unlike pappadums small and crispy. They came with some sweet sauces but no achar. The chicken tikka croquettes were bright red but not very spicy, accompanied by a perfectly acceptable mango sauce. These were followed by a plate of 5 garlic prawns, which were pleasantly garlicky. The main course was a bright red 'Old Delhi Butter Chicken ' it was totally unlike any butter chicken I had ever seen. The sauce was very 'tomatoey ' and bland. The chicken had a strange mushy, pasty quality almost like it had been reconstituted or at least frozen and cooked for a long time. My wife had the kitchen curry, which was also bright red and bland. The nan was different from a normal nan thicker and more bread like. It was not what we were expecting. We often travel to India, and this was quite unlike any Indian food we have ever had before. Overall I would rate the experience as 'confusing '."

"Always a beautiful venue. We were greeted at the door. Had drinks and chatted on the sofas. We had a lovely round table which is perfect for conversation. The food was lovely. The staff put a candle on my mums dessert for her birthday which made it special. Our only complaint was that it was cold!! One of our guests actually stood up and stood by the radiator between courses. I appreciate that the restaurant had been closed for two days and it takes a while for the building to warm up ... but it spoilt what was otherwise a lovely meal !"

"The restaurant promoted a Groupon deal, but when we tried to use it, the staff rudely informed us that they no longer accept Groupon vouchers. This led to us canceling a large order, with only a small part being the discounted pizza from Groupon. The service was terrible, and it seems they are prioritizing short-term profits over maintaining their business and reputation."
