"From the moment we arrived I have to say the service was pretty terrible. It was a shame because they had contacted me via Instagram inviting me and my friends in for free pizza, we were really looking forward to it. We booked to watch the rugby too as the restaurant had advertised they were showing the games on the big screens. We arrived and we’re basically ignored for a while, I ended up approaching someone and saying I had a table booked. There were 2 of us there but we we’re waiting for another friends to arrive, the man out front strangely put us on a tiny table for 2 people, we said about how we have a third person coming but he didn’t seem bothered and told us he could move us when she arrived. This was very strange as they were barely busy, maybe 3 tables had people sat at. I also explained if we could be sat by a TV screen for the rugby. He didn’t asked for any details of my booking. We noticed a male customer asking for toilet paper for the men’s bathrooms. When my friend went to the bathroom she ended up coming straight out and asking for toilet paper. We waited 25 minutes while staff were just stood around or on their phones. I eventually went to check and still no toilet paper, we asked again. I looks like the man out from had to run to the corner shop to not only buy toilet roll but throughout the evening he could come back from Sainsbury's with cans of Guinness! The bathrooms were in a disgusting state, clearly not cleaned for a while. After sitting and waiting for some time for the rugby to come on I ended up asking if they’re putting it on. It was clear they couldn’t get the TV to work downstairs and the man said they’re only showing the last game which I just wish they told us before as our plan was to see both of the games. Meanwhile all of this is going on, we noticed the chef dinging the bell for food to be served from the hot plate and it being just sat there for 15 minutes. The chef ended up ringing the bell 3 or 4 times. I could go on really with how bad the service was. Put the bottle of wine down on the table didn’t offer to pour it, ignoring the telephone ringing all evening, we had to ask for everything (menus and for the table to be cleaned), not clearing tables….. There was 1 women who arrived to work later on in the evening who was slightly better. It’s a shame because the pizzas were good. When I looked at the reviews online it’s clear to say the reason they’re inviting so many people in is because of how bad it is. Step up your service and good luck to you"

"I visited Giotto on the evening of the 21st for tea with my sister and my friend, first time visiting London we decided to book a table at this restaurant before we headed to watch Mamma Mia. We walked in and initial thoughts were all positive, greeted by staff and they showed us to a table by the bar. We ordered our food, it came and during the time which we were eating our meals we witnessed I assume the manager or supervisor unsure of her name but she had light brown hair and she was very rude to staff bossing them about and using no manners ! the way she was talking to staff was unacceptable in front of customers she clearly had a problem with one staff member I think his name was Zachary, we had no issues with the way he had served us we had great customer service by him he took our food orders. We heard her sending him home due to whatever he had done wrong I don’t think he had done anything wrong. If she had an issue with the way her staff work she should bring this up with them in the office not in front of customers, none of us enjoyed our meal and half way through my sister actually got up and told her that it was unnecessary what she was doing and she rudely advised my sister that we didn’t know the issues they were having with this staff member and that my sister was blowing it out of context. Can I just say that we never saw her in our initially visit through the door and the floor of the restaurant was running smoothly without her presence. I feel like she had no communication skills something that’s vital in a job role such as hers! We paid £100 for 3 of us and nothing was knocked off despite us telling them we weren’t happy with what had happened and that we wasted our food because of what we had witnessed."

"after the end of a month, the enthusiasm decreases to leave feedback on an experience (positive or negative) to the point where a review seems to be too much. However, this experience (very much negative) stuck with me and so I had to. share as edinburgh inhabitants I lived on albany road (only a few minutes away) and would often come here to sample their excellent salads, scones and suppening. if people would mention that they spent a weekend in edinburgh, I would recommend this place always as a great option for lunch. Since I moved to london, I was looking forward to returning to edinburgh to bring my wife to an earlier hunt. this was a charming place, with great eating and friendly service. I was really disappointed. I understand that people have “bad days” during the work, but that was a bit much. we went to no greeting and a quiet star followed by an rude “you want to eat?”. I have made the order on the theke (soup and sweet) and then paid before I went through the area. unfriendly, but she has done nothing to me. so there is. after knocking the suppe and the scones on the table, the employee has quite laboriously pointed out that we noticed the cutlery drawer on the way through the es tab. to the happiness she was so kinder coughed that they had brought us some spoons to save us the effort. thanks to now through our food (which was fair to be, the same worker ploned a large bag of sugar cubes on the table and began to fill the pot again. no “expression” or even a curse to show that she wanted to interrupt us. it was quite unpleasant/odd when we were in the tiny room through the back, so it was just my wife and I plus another employee on their laptop (on the look for that look) in there. in order to round it off when we left a co-worker behind the counter, we called on a guilty wise; “Did they pay?” unfortunately we had it already."
