"eating was good, but the table was sticky, like he never cleaned with a decent greasy. it was also disappointing that all the condiments were in baggage, and when we asked for me, it seemed like an inconvenience, or an surprise that with 7 people 5 scarlet were not enough. also tee at the end came with small pots milk. when we asked for fresh milk, they said they had no one. but coffee had been made with milk. individual bags of seasoned and milk are not acceptable in this day and age."

"I opted for the vegan menu (even though I am a vegetarian) to see what the options were and I what a delight it was! So much so that one of my friends selected a starter from the vegan menu too. I had vegetable tempura which was really lovely, served with a couple of dipping sauces and a light salad. I followed this with the bean burger on ciabatta. I have to be honest and say while it was really tasty it was a little dry. The chips on the side were standard skinny chips, not the lovely hand cut chips that we all remembered from past visits. Back onto the main menu for the fabulous warm chocolate brownie and ice cream. The only downside I would say is that the wine is pretty expensive, even the house wine, and no water was offered. There only seemed to be two waiters on the evening we were there and given that it was pretty busy some extra staff wouldn't go a miss. That said, its a nice restaurant and it has a lovely warm atmosphere."

"This is the place to book for a delicious meal where the tortelloni pasta is rolled thinly, the pasta bases are proper italiano, the sauces are tasty and the meat specialities like veal, beef and 'pollo ' are always tender. Ask for the soup of the day for an unusual but spot on combination.try and avoid the complimentary bread and olives if you don 't want to be too full before the main meal arrives! These are not small dieters portions, so ask for a small helping if you 're worried about that kind of thing. There are no pretences or frills, this is trattoria styling with full blown flavours of Italy. The warm welcome you get from the owners is unequalled in any other Aberdeen restaurant of this ilk. Minimal improvements could be made to the baby changing toilet facilities and maybe by stocking some prosecco this restaurant would be 100% splendid. But the food could not get any better. Try, try and try again"

"I ate dinner with a friend at Pappa Roma on a Saturday evening. We ordered a quattro stagioni pizza and a seafood pasta. Both were tasty, and the portions were generous. The prices were very affordable too. The staff member who seated us at first was somewhat detached, but during the meal the staff were helpful and responded to our requests quickly. However, we found the atmosphere very poor. We were seated in a downstairs area that had a huge screen showing a football match. It was noisy and distracting, although to their credit the staff turned the sound to a lower setting when I asked. Later on, the staff put on some radio music which was loud and offputting (especially during the commercials); again, they did turn it to a quieter setting when I asked, but it was still distracting."

"Plush surroundings and luxury persisted throughout as befits an adjunct to a top hotel. Food was delicious, service was impeccable I even got ticked off for having the audacity to pour my own wine! Lunch took 3 hours and was time well spent but remember such enjoyment doesn’t come cheap."

"Seemed like they were flustered. It was valentines night and they had a set menu so should have been easier. We had to wait 5-10 minutes by the door to be seated. (This was crazy as there was loads of tables sat empty we had booked and paid a deposit. All the front of house staff were stood talking and messing about. Once we were seated they asked had we pre ordered? (We hadn’t been asked to prior to arrival!!! After that all seemed good until the main arrived…. Surf and turf (Rump steak, scallops, king prawns and mussels Our arrived with just one very small slice of Rump not 5ounces, this was to share I must add. They had replaced the steak was replaced with a small bit of fish (no idea what This was because they had ran out of steak! But how if people pre booked and with a £65 set menu of which you claim we should have pre booked? Anyway the food was good none the less but was overall a bit of a let down on a special occasion. Then when the bill came it was wrong and there was a big time messing around with that! I mean it’s set price if £65 a head so they only needed to add drinks! Overall big let down, was previously one of our favourite venues in a very competitive area! We will try elsewhere next time!"

"The service and atmosphere was good. The restaurant is, in fact, in a historic building. But I was disappointed by the food. I am glad I didn't have to pay for the food (I was there as a part of a paid-for Christmas dinner. Having lived and traveled extensively in Italy for two years, I know what real Italian food tastes like. In this case, the bruschetta was soggy and the tortelli was overcooked. So it was a really disappointing experience food-wise."

"From the moment we arrived I have to say the service was pretty terrible. It was a shame because they had contacted me via Instagram inviting me and my friends in for free pizza, we were really looking forward to it. We booked to watch the rugby too as the restaurant had advertised they were showing the games on the big screens. We arrived and we’re basically ignored for a while, I ended up approaching someone and saying I had a table booked. There were 2 of us there but we we’re waiting for another friends to arrive, the man out front strangely put us on a tiny table for 2 people, we said about how we have a third person coming but he didn’t seem bothered and told us he could move us when she arrived. This was very strange as they were barely busy, maybe 3 tables had people sat at. I also explained if we could be sat by a TV screen for the rugby. He didn’t asked for any details of my booking. We noticed a male customer asking for toilet paper for the men’s bathrooms. When my friend went to the bathroom she ended up coming straight out and asking for toilet paper. We waited 25 minutes while staff were just stood around or on their phones. I eventually went to check and still no toilet paper, we asked again. I looks like the man out from had to run to the corner shop to not only buy toilet roll but throughout the evening he could come back from Sainsbury's with cans of Guinness! The bathrooms were in a disgusting state, clearly not cleaned for a while. After sitting and waiting for some time for the rugby to come on I ended up asking if they’re putting it on. It was clear they couldn’t get the TV to work downstairs and the man said they’re only showing the last game which I just wish they told us before as our plan was to see both of the games. Meanwhile all of this is going on, we noticed the chef dinging the bell for food to be served from the hot plate and it being just sat there for 15 minutes. The chef ended up ringing the bell 3 or 4 times. I could go on really with how bad the service was. Put the bottle of wine down on the table didn’t offer to pour it, ignoring the telephone ringing all evening, we had to ask for everything (menus and for the table to be cleaned), not clearing tables….. There was 1 women who arrived to work later on in the evening who was slightly better. It’s a shame because the pizzas were good. When I looked at the reviews online it’s clear to say the reason they’re inviting so many people in is because of how bad it is. Step up your service and good luck to you"

"We booked a Saturday night meal recently based on recent TA reviews as we were on holiday in nearby Lavenham. First impressions were very good this is a typical country pub, nice n cosy but up to date. We were greeted warmly, shown to our table and the orders placed. We shared a starter because the waitress informed us the mains are quite large portions that's an understatement! We had the steak ale pie and steak chips as the mains, but of which were delicious. Sadly, we had no room for pudding which was a shame as they to looked lovely. All in all, a very pleasant evening in a lovely pub."

"This is going to be a short one because if I tell you all the great things about this restaurant, it would be less a review than a book of Dickensesque proportions! A lovely restaurant in a lovely building in a lovely town. The staff are professional and friendly; we were certainly well looked after. The food is wonderful, traditional Italian fare for the most part, cooked to perfection, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. I can highly recommend the Linguine Ravello, a perfect amalgam of king prawns, muscles, et al, a fantastic seafood dish. The other dishes are perfection too. You like rich meaty lasagna? One of the best I have had. The ravioli of the day? A wonder whatever the filling. And don't get me started on the profiteroles! All in all, a constant delight. If you haven't guessed, this is highly recommended."

"I visited Giotto on the evening of the 21st for tea with my sister and my friend, first time visiting London we decided to book a table at this restaurant before we headed to watch Mamma Mia. We walked in and initial thoughts were all positive, greeted by staff and they showed us to a table by the bar. We ordered our food, it came and during the time which we were eating our meals we witnessed I assume the manager or supervisor unsure of her name but she had light brown hair and she was very rude to staff bossing them about and using no manners ! the way she was talking to staff was unacceptable in front of customers she clearly had a problem with one staff member I think his name was Zachary, we had no issues with the way he had served us we had great customer service by him he took our food orders. We heard her sending him home due to whatever he had done wrong I don’t think he had done anything wrong. If she had an issue with the way her staff work she should bring this up with them in the office not in front of customers, none of us enjoyed our meal and half way through my sister actually got up and told her that it was unnecessary what she was doing and she rudely advised my sister that we didn’t know the issues they were having with this staff member and that my sister was blowing it out of context. Can I just say that we never saw her in our initially visit through the door and the floor of the restaurant was running smoothly without her presence. I feel like she had no communication skills something that’s vital in a job role such as hers! We paid £100 for 3 of us and nothing was knocked off despite us telling them we weren’t happy with what had happened and that we wasted our food because of what we had witnessed."

"the pre-theater menu is medium-leading. the food offered in the menu differs from what we found on its website. were small, and I ordered mushing, there are sand in the mushes, not fresh at all, the worst I ever had. I told the personal about it, but her answer was acknowledged, but she didn't react at all. definitiw will not go back"

"after the end of a month, the enthusiasm decreases to leave feedback on an experience (positive or negative) to the point where a review seems to be too much. However, this experience (very much negative) stuck with me and so I had to. share as edinburgh inhabitants I lived on albany road (only a few minutes away) and would often come here to sample their excellent salads, scones and suppening. if people would mention that they spent a weekend in edinburgh, I would recommend this place always as a great option for lunch. Since I moved to london, I was looking forward to returning to edinburgh to bring my wife to an earlier hunt. this was a charming place, with great eating and friendly service. I was really disappointed. I understand that people have “bad days” during the work, but that was a bit much. we went to no greeting and a quiet star followed by an rude “you want to eat?”. I have made the order on the theke (soup and sweet) and then paid before I went through the area. unfriendly, but she has done nothing to me. so there is. after knocking the suppe and the scones on the table, the employee has quite laboriously pointed out that we noticed the cutlery drawer on the way through the es tab. to the happiness she was so kinder coughed that they had brought us some spoons to save us the effort. thanks to now through our food (which was fair to be, the same worker ploned a large bag of sugar cubes on the table and began to fill the pot again. no “expression” or even a curse to show that she wanted to interrupt us. it was quite unpleasant/odd when we were in the tiny room through the back, so it was just my wife and I plus another employee on their laptop (on the look for that look) in there. in order to round it off when we left a co-worker behind the counter, we called on a guilty wise; “Did they pay?” unfortunately we had it already."

"Last time we attended Ora we had a great meal, this time it was poor , my wife had prawns there were 4 prawns at £7.95, wrong. For main I had roast beef, my wife had burger, my beef was chewy, I did state this to the waitress who replied you should have asked how you wanted it rare or medium, in my opinion the waitress should have asked me how I wanted my beef, the vegetables were nice but a very small portion, the potatoes tasted as though they had been reheated , the waitress cleared my wife’s starter before I had finished, my Yorkshire pudding was soggy, Im sorry but did not enjoy my experience this time, my wife thought the burger she had for mains was poor last time my wife had the burger she said it was the best she had had, we were not asked if we wanted any sauces, the owners were good but the waitress seemed inexperienced . Very disappointed."

"Very nice place and very friendly staff. The food was good and tasty: tried the sea bream and was delicious, the burrata on the sharing board starter was very similar to the original Italian one and on the same quality was the sharing dessert! A few things I did not particularly like: the table, it feels more like a bar than an actual restaurant in fact you could get an high table with stools instead of chairs; most of the finest wine bottles were not available when we visited (15/4/23 ; and, generally the food was slightly overpriced compared to what you can find in other places in Edinburgh (e.g Cote, Bread Street, etc. . Overall I did really enjoy the evening and I'll definitely come back to try the pasta and the cannoli that unfortunately were also not available. Recommended!"

"We popped in without a booking on a Sunday night after a long drive and were met with such fantastic service. Our waiter Blair was soo friendly, made some great recommendations and made us laugh a lot! The frito misto was a great starter, huge fresh bits of fresh and a delicious garlic and parsley sauce. We also ordered the asparagus with pancetta which was so nicely done with another great sauce. The fresh pasta dishes were phenomenal! Between our table we ordered the slow cooked beef and tuscan sausage ragu which had so much tender meat and a delicious rich sauce, the rigatoni sinatra (crumbled italian sausages with loads of roasted peppers and chilli in a tomato sauce) and the fettuccine pollo piccante which was my favourite. This was spicy chicken in a creamy parmesan sauce with a right kick of chilli! For a complete accidental find we had such a great meal and would definitely come back if we were travelling down to Glasgow from the Highlands again!"

"I went with my work team to amarone for my first work event in Britain. the place looks really great and the staff was really friendly. I have selected a starter, a main dish and a dessert from the dinner menu. I started with an salad with cured meat. Not bad, but I wouldn't ask again. I asked about one of my favourite dishes, mushroom risotto. it was good, but not the best I cost. the dessert was the worst part of my meal. I love ingwer, but I didn't like the taste of this dessert. the aromen just didn't fit me. the personal was always very friendly. because it is not the cheapest place I expected a bit more (and a person in my group had a big piece...read more"

"Cyprianus, Locksbottom is a great restaurant. The menu is varied with a few unusual dishes. A good wine list and wine by the glass. The staff are helpful and friendly. Only issue was that one starter was totally missed. However, rectified with apologies and taken off the bill. So all good. Very busy and therefore some noise, but it was only people noise so fine. Well worth a visit,"

"This is a café and restaurant with a very nice charming atmosphere. The food is tasty and the price is good. The best is the decoration. It is diverse and you might think it does not fit but this is the special thing in here. If you don't like it when you enter, stay away. All others will love it and will always come back. Then, if you sit there and watch the time go by, drink your coffee and just enjoy life, you will leave full of energy."
