"Had intended having lunch at the Bull but an unfortunate nose bleed on arrival prevented that. However we were so impressed by the feeling of the establishment and welcome received that we went back in the evening for dinner. And we were glad we did! Once again a warm welcome from the Maitre d' . Excellent service, food, ambience throughout our meal. One of the best meals we have enjoyed for many, many months, enhanced by the silver service from experienced waiting staff. Could'nt fault it!"

"We booked our office Christmas Dinner, enticed by the all included wine in £75x person 2 course meal. We were left hungrier than when we arrived. The main course consisted in 3 small rolls of a thin layer of turkey with some mousse inside. 4 Brussels sprouts (I know) and a tiny slice of potato cake. And thats it!! I hehe eaten larger starters, never mind first and main course. The Christmas puddings, were tiny moulds soooo hard to cut through.Later on I saw one of the cook going into the kitchen with a tray of pre-made long rolls wrapped into cling film. It must cost them 50p x roll and they can feed to 10 people with it. Very poor service too. We were left from 1pm to 2 pm before the food appeared. They filled the glasses to 1/4 and from time to time they would come and refill up to the same level. I wonder how many office Christmas parties made the same mistake to book at 155."

"The salt-beef sandwich at this cozy café is simply divine, with its thick, warm slices of meat, tangy mustard, and light rye bread. The side of cole slaw is the perfect addition. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is friendly."

"Staff were welcoming and it was explained to us that we would have to wait a little while for a seat because of overbooking which was a little disappointing. However, it was not a long wait and we both agreed that the food, (steak and ale pie and beef lasagne) were beautifully cooked."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the experience of dining in the beautiful Twenty Princes Street restaurant. We were fortunate to have a a table by the window overlooking the city. The menu was varied, the food delicious and the service friendly and efficient. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant."

"I had a wonderful steak dinner on the Thursday special at 3ccc, which was priced at £35. The two cocktails were amazing, and the overall experience was great. The service was excellent, and the staff were very kind and helpful. I highly recommend this place, and I can't wait to return with family and friends!"

"just now NEW Called in today after a ceremony at a local church- I recommended The Tolka House to the group as we eat there at least once a week as a family. It was a little after 12 and practically empty. We intended to mark the occasion with tea/coffee-a celebration cake and then have some lunch as a group of 7. We had previously been advised that reservations cannot be taken on a Sunday-which was fair enough. We opened a tab and ordered drinks. One of our party had to leave early so we asked for some plates to cut our cake. We were told permission would have to be sought first…a few moments later we were approached in a very indiscreet manner to advise “as he would put it-you wouldn’t bring a pizza to a restaurant to eat it”. We were all stunned at the manner of delivery and lack of discretion involved, especially as there was a young child involved. Had we been asked to pay a cost towards plates etc. we’d have been more than happy to do so. So with a tearful 8 year old who had just been baptised-we paid our tab and left. The irony was not lost on us that we personally witnessed many tables in this establishment very recently commandeered by numerous confirmation parties-all of whom had boxed cakes and balloons on the tables….why no consistency in their policy? Not a single person present in our party today will ever spend another penny in The Tolka House-and we are all locals and business owners ourselves. Very shortsighted indeed."

"Booked the private dining room for 15 people for a 60th birthday dinner with friends. Drinks and canapes in the bar at 7pm followed by dinner at 8pm. From when we arrived mid afternoon to when we left after breakfast the next day nothing was too much trouble. All staff were amazing, knowing what we wanted or needed before we did. Food was wonderful and we all had a great time. Breakfast the next morning for the 8 of us that stayed over was great too. The poor lady in charge, sorry I do not remember names well, she worked so hard and was brilliant. If you are looking for a private dining room look no further, highly recommend. Huge thanks to all staff!"

"Inside is dark and a bit dated. Outside has great views of the river. Service was not very good with staff a bit stuck up! We were a party of 6 with one toddler and had a table if 5. Staff were a bit unpleasant making a point to tell us that we booked for 5 and now need 6 chairs! Could have easily offered us a high chair without the fuss! We expressed desire to sit outside as you can’t book a table there to be very rudely told that there are no tables ! Overall food was mediocre but the service wasn’t great so won’t be visiting again .. plenty of places around the river to explore"

"Went for an afternoon tea, food was ready for when we got there, everything tasted freshly prepared and we were served immediately with tea. Price wise for what we got and service provided was absolutely perfect only £12 per head. The food included a selection of sandwiches, scones (with cream and jam) sausage rolls, pies and then few different options of cakes and of course UNLIMITED tea or coffee. Set up wise the table was ready, very neat, tidy and clean for when we arrived and all utensils an plates we needed were already on the table so no waiting required. Would definitely recommend the afternoon package and also have been for standard menu before so would recommend that too."

"Traveling in the area and we had been told to check this place out... Best travel advice we've had! Warm, welcoming and friendly, you just feel relaxed and at home as soon as you step foot in the place... Then they bring out the food. And you see the prices, and you experience the service and atmosphere. And you book in again as soon as you possibly can. We ate the week before at the Hilton in Harrogate... It cost about 10 times the price and was about half as good. Hats off guys... Your place rocks and your food is just delicious. See you Sunday!"

"The smell of freshly baking bread is very intoxicating, apparently eager home sellers will bake a loaf just before having viewers round and supermarkets will pump the scent into certain parts of the store willy nilly. It conjours up images of home in Berkshire, all gathered round the Aga; even if you didn't have one and grew up on a Redrow estate in Wales. Bakerie , on the very edge of Manchester's Northern Quarter, has set itself up as a baker of fresh bread and a seller of good wine according to the website it's the perfect place to chill out with your mates with good bread and wine around you. And it's certainly a chilled out space walls in neutral, earthy tones are mostly...read more"

"Thank you so much for being open during these times and providing such quality food! for safety measures too and the two ladies that were working there are just pure gems My partner and I both had a roast beef sandwich with onions...and gravy, in the middle of no where at the bottom of Gordale Scar on a beautiful day. Couldn't ask for anything better so thanks so much for providing for all of us hungry walkers and cyclists! Hope you're there every time we come for a visit because you're amazing. Thanks again!"

"This is my absolute favourite place. I have to say I’ve been turned away more times than I’ve got in but that just makes me want it more! It’s very small but charming, warm cosy. Of course I should ring ahead to book but...my phone never has a signal so I just turn up. They do a particular raspberry cake whose name I can’t remember but it is gorgeous, moist flavoursome but not too sweet. Even my husband was impressed cute little cafes are his cup of tea really cos he’s a big guy. I sincerely hope they can ride out the current awful situation look forward to tip toeing up your stairs to see if you’ve got a small table just for me."

"we had a great breakfast, panini, coffee and warm milk with our three under 7 years girls today. what a cozy place and the dame that runs this tee room is simply wonderful. the coffee (latte) is as tasty as they may look out of the and hope the size of the coffee machine. it is rare to find an authentic, traditional tea room where they can have such a pleasant time and tasty eating, but this fits the bill."

"The local café is one of the best I’ve ever been to! The food is absolutely amazing, and their homemade cakes are second to none. This is more than just an ordinary café; the atmosphere, combined with great music and fantastic service, sets it apart from the rest. Most importantly, the owner truly knows how to take care of customers—no request is too much. I would give this place 10 stars if I could! Thank you for an unforgettable experience."

"I recommend this nice little cafe. It has a great ethos of buying ingredients from small local businesses. The owner is friendly and welcoming. The menu is simple and not overloaded with masses of different concoctions which works well and on most days there is...a special which the owner makes himself. Generally the cakes are locally sourced from local cake makers which you can tell as they are tasty and haven’t got that mass produced feeling about them. The quality of coffee is good and if I were to be fussy I would say I need to order a large latte as the coffee shot is too strong for me when ordering the small. Take the ethos of the owner and support your local business the quality and personal touch beat the chain stores hands down."

"We stopped here for lunch and are glad we did. I had the soup-of-the-day (sweet potato and chili), which was delicious and came with a thick slice of white bread and butter. Two friends got the bacon rolls and absolutely loved them they were...huge and satisfied their big man appetites. The other friend got the roast beef sandwich, which looked really big to me, and she enjoyed it. I was told that the coffees (Americano and Cappuccino) were also very good. The service from the lady at the counter was great. The restaurant was open to sit and eat inside and had carefully spaced tables because of the COVID restrictions, but we chose to eat at the picnic table outside because of the sunny weather. We would definitely stop here again!"
