"We visited last night for a family birthday. Been before, but not for a while. Four adults and one pre-teen with very specific likes and dislikes! The choice of food was amazing. Specials boards, saver menu, fish, steak, pasta...... It's all there. I had the mushrooms with a cheesy tomato sauce to start, which was gorgeous, and then the fish curry half and half. The chips were gorgeous, and the curry was out of this, world! My husband couldn't make it, so I asked if I could order a takeaway for him. The waitress said that most things could be packed to take away, so I ordered him a chicken curry half and half. Everyone's meals arrived together, and our waitress was attentive but not overly so. We were allowed to eat our meals at our own pace without feeling rushed. My stepdad has dementia, so can take ages to choose and then to eat, but again, we weren't rushed. All agreed the meals were lovely. Nobody could manage dessert, although there were, again, many choices. Our waitress brought out my husband's curry when we asked for the bill, and it was piping hot and well packed. All in all, a hugely enjoyable evening was had by all xx"

"What a little gem of Ripley it is! We went for an afternoon walk today and fancied a little stop on the way back. And what a treat this pub was We only had a drink each and a few nibbles but we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Food was good quality and presented well. Homemade humus was yummy and polenta chips were a perfect combination of soft and crunchy! Phoebe and James looked after us and made us feel very welcome, including Ted, our dog, who got some water, a treat and, of course, attention Thank you, guys! We'll definitely be back!"

"We went here as a family of 4 after going to the cinema. We had a fabulous meal. One thing that really stands out is the way they handled the nut allergy my daughter has which was amazing. We were a bit disappointed the scallops weren’t available however were happy with the prawns, bao buns and haloumi. For mains we had 2 half lobsters, prawns and pulled burger all of which was well cooked and tasty. The service and staff here are super friendly and attentive. We will be back and most probably for a Saturday brunch which sounds amazing! Dietary restrictions: Very good with nut allergies"

"We came for food yesterday after we were recommended the Fox Coney from a friend. I would suggest firstly, always ringing to ensure you can get or reserve a table. It is very popular and whilst you can get seated walking in, you may not always get a 'proper table '. We were seated in the bar area, whilst adequate, the tables were quite small for 3 of us eating and bar the long couch there are only stools to sit on. So if you want a 'proper ' table with 'proper 'chairs I 'd suggest booking. The service was 5 , could not fault the staff, very good customer service. They were friendly and helpful. The food was by far some of the best we have had at a Pub. Whilst on what some may think is on the more pricey side £15.50 for a Chicken Burger and £17 for a Steak and Ale Pie) it is worth every penny. This is NOT a chain pub. So you get quality food, home cooked not microwaved like they do in chain pubs) food and it is worth it. The portion sizes are great and the taste was superb. The Chicken Burger was the best I have had and the Steak Ale Pie was the best my Partner and his Mum had in their life. Apparently famous for this pie). Also apparently do Gluten Free as I asked with my Mum being Gluten Free. The pub itself is welcoming, homely and very cosy. It is dog friendly also with some treats in a glass jar at the bar nice little touch. The only issue we had was parking, there is parking at the pub it is under the arch way at the back, if you miss it like we did), so ended up having to find a space on the road. Not always easy a little village. All in all, highly recommended this place. We will certainly be returning regularly."

"Excellent quality of food and drink in very comfortable surroundings with a joyful and friendly service to match. It is quite refreshing to experience a setting where there is much laughter and camaraderie between the staff members (and with myself too), and nothing was too much trouble for the staff to meet our requirements. The 3 course meal and drinks cost £74.50 which we thought was excellent value since cocktails and liquor coffee were purchased as well. Well recommended. Kid-friendliness: Children's menu available plus highchairs available. "This is the second time in 4 weeks that I have had Sunday roast here and both times were really really nice. On both occasions we were 4 kids and 4 adults. The staff were super accommodating and helpful. We had beef brisket and the kids had fish and chips. Nothing seemed to be too much for the waiter serving with us who went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. He even went off to find something for my fussy lad who wanted chocolate sauce rather than caramel which wasn't even on the menu! We shall be going again! Also to top it off they have a really gorgeous sunny beer garden with fabulous valley views."

"yesterday evening with a reservation for three of us visited for 18 o'clock. the restaurant was nicely busy! we ordered drinks beer and a very nice bottle Chilean merlot. the waitresses were extremely busy, but so pleasant and “smiley” was nothing too much annoyed even if my step vater accidentally knocked over his glass wee when the job was taken! all treated professionally and discreetly. the food came, though almost an hour after our booking, but since our reservation was an early evening and we had a light lunch, it was not a problem. the service and the quality of eating made it good to wait! my man and step vater ordered steaks rib auge and rump) cooked to their preferences med/well and med/rare) and I had the garlic chilihuh. we all chose rustic chips and had the other companions for our selected meal times. the food was delicious and plentiful! I couldn't finish my portions. my stepfather somehow managed to find space for dessert and enjoyed his brownie with ice cream. we loved the “Cowboy Hat” touch and wore it during the meal, so did the people on the next table). at the end of the evening my man asked our beautiful waitress to the bill as we wanted to cover the total) just to say that my stepfather had already paid. what a tasty bite! when we finally discovered the total bill, we were amazed at the fantastic value for money! the next time we stay with my stepfather in louth, we will definitely come back here for the great food, service, drinks and worth! many thanks to all the workers in the ranch steakhouse grill!"

"We’ve been to this fantastic pub restaurant many times with friends and family and it never fails to please. Always very busy, but the staff are always polite, professional and efficient. You’re rarely waiting long for anything and, no matter how busy they are, there is usually a couple of table checks to see if you need drinks or anything else. We went here last night with a friend, and we’re going again tomorrow with family (at their request after we took them there for the first time a few weeks ago). Thai food is authentic and excellent (I’ve never had English food there but I’m sure it’s very good) and they always have a couple of real ales on draught too (I can recommend the Wainwrights ale). Highly recommended."

"Called into the Pheasant on Sunday on our way home from a birthday party in ballynahinch, my husband and I both had the roast beef and our daughter had scampi and fries. The roast dinners were fantastic, the plate had so many lovely flavours, between the wide selection of vegetables, to the gravy and as for the beef it was a nice sized portion so so tender and full of flavour. We were going to have dessert but the maincourse stuffed us both. Service was very attentive also as there seemed to be a larger party in another area of restaurant. Such a gd choice to stop of and dine here, will be back very soon with friends"

"Wiener Schnitzel, which was not a nice thing, and I know the roast potatoes better. For the onions and the bacon were burned. On top of that, it has an explanation that shows how the kitchen is running. Quickly shame, because the location is nice and for the money I would have expected more, even if I had to wait longer for dinner."

"Well I read the reviews and hoped for the best as it was only a short walk away. Sadly it was extremely disappointing in nearly every aspect. It has to be said that the waitress tried her level best but was simply overwhelmed by too many tasks and not enough staff (Friday). The starters were OK, a bit average. They arrived in a decent time after ordering. However, the main course steak meals, which were not worth the money, took far too long to turn up. My rib eye steak was thin, overcooked and very over priced. The chips,mushroom and tomato just off cold!! The genuinely thoughtful waitress arranged for more hot chips. By the time they arrived my steak was cold and yes they were hot but powder dry and difficult to eat!! Then to pay we waited 15 minutes, noticing that other people had got to the point of putting coats on to get attention. We did the same with resulting in actually getting somewhere regarding paying and leaving. During the long time we had waiting we could not help but notice the extraordinary lengths of time meals were held under the heat lamps, a good 15 minutes. In length poor food, overpriced with bad service. Why the place was full is beyond me, it's dire and we will not be using Beefeater again."

"The exterior was really historical because it used to be an old church. We didn't make a reservation but because it was still early before dinner they accommodate us. We opted for the early evening course meal of roasted breast of chicken and pan fried pork loin, with the starters of piri piri marinated prawns and crispy chicken tenderloins. "it is a warm welcoming pub in a light location, with free parking on the street, including disabled parking. decoration is a mix of traditional and modern, with outside seats, various parts of the pub give different atmosphere, great place to come together for every occasion. half the type of pub has steps that have warn stickers and labels, but still a little dangerous with drinks and with children and /or older, but there are many pills and seats before u enter the stage areas. toilets are above, not sure whether any disabled toilets below? good and drinks menus are decent, big teller and tasty eating, have a series of everything for all, including vegan menu, as I don't vegan, so can not comment on the menu and eat. very little staff in the night we went (service) the waitress was really friendly, polite helpful and well maintained for all our needs. pub in these days closes quite early, we were told in 2130, but we stayed until 2200, since it was quite a big one together at night outside. one of the most important things is a dog friendly pub, has water dishes and cookies for dogs. overall it is a beautiful pub"

"We went for Burger Night. Any two burgers for £20. Because of a reduced menu as the pub is closing in SIX weeks time we had the American burger, one meat and the other customised veggie. The portion size is massive and you get two burger patties per person. We were properly well fed, but both of us could not completely finish our meals. The deal is great value. "We visited here a few weeks ago and ordered steak which was like chewing cardboard but given the venue is clean and the staff were lovely we thought it must be a one off so decided to visit again today for Sunday Lunch and sadly wish we had not bothered as the food was abysmal. All the meals were clap cold and the roast potatoes were beyond anaemic and sloppy and had never seen a roasting tin in their life. The carrots were black and the Yorkshire puddings were rock hard and over cooked. The vegetarian meal was freezing cold in the middle and was sent back but the replacement was not any better. It was so bad we decided not to bother with a dessert which was included in the set price. We did complain and they did knock some money off the bill. The waiteress was run off her feet as they had a big function on and large groups of tables which is obviously a big issue. Don't take bookings if you can't cope with a large amount of people as it ends up with poor service and inedible food. We will obviously not be returning. The place has great potential if you have decent chefs and management who can whip it in to shape."

"The food was fantastic, but the service was terrible. We arrived at an empty restaurant at 5pm and were initially told there were no tables available for 2. After insisting that we wanted to eat right away, we were finally seated. The starters were delicious, but when my burger with chips arrived, asking for some Mayo felt like a big deal. The staff didn't check on us midway through our meal and when we asked for the bill, they cleared our plates without asking about our experience. A service charge was automatically added, which we removed because we didn't feel it was deserved. The atmosphere was strange, but the food was excellent."
