"I initially emailed to ask for a reservation and had no reply so had to ring four days later. We went here for Sunday lunch on 27.08.23. The setting was lovely and relaxed. Our food arrived well presented both with very small gravy boats and we were told to ask if we wanted more gravy!! My veggie meal was plated with the boiled and roast potatoes under the burger type roast and smothered in gravy. The gravy was thick, rich and very tangy which left an awful taste on my tongue for ages. I asked my boyfriend how his meal was and he replied, “Quantity over quality,” and said the best thing on his plate was the ball of stuffing!!! When our plates were taken away I was not asked why my food was hardly touched and the waiter looked at my partner to ask if he wanted dessert and avoided all eye contact with me. For a man to notice I wasn’t acknowledged it quite something hahaha. I will not return. The Angel is only a couple of miles from where I live and when we got to our local pub afterwards everyone told us they knew the food was rubbish."

We had another fantastic dining experience at The Angel, with the attentive team providing excellent service, especially Jade. Definitely worth a visit.

The food was over cooked with no flavor and very unseasoned, over priced. We asked for a glass of ice to go with a warm bottle of wine on a boiling hot day but was told no. Also there was hair in my 18 pound over cooked meal. Go to the prince instead

Arrived at 19:45 in the evening, expecting them to still serve food, however was greeted by an unhelpful waitress who told us that she ‘believed the kitchen was shut’ despite the pub advertising that it served food ‘all day’. Wouldn’t bother going here

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch on the outdoor patio, soaking up the sunshine. The meal was delicious, the service was excellent, and we couldn't have asked for better weather or views. The vegetarian option we tried was lovely, and the staff were incredibly polite. View menu

This place was surprisingly quiet on a Friday lunchtime. It is set opposite a wild country park which can be very cold in winter. Inside it is welcoming with attentive staff. I can particularly recommend the scampi which was attractively served and very enjoyable. I will certainly return.

I was invited to the 70th birthday lunch of a friend along with 35 others. I had not been to the restaurant for several years and it was good to see the enthusiasm the new owners have brought to The Angel. Friendly, polite staff who worked so hard to make sure everyone was happy. Food was excellent and suited every dietary requirement vegan, vegetarian, meat eaters. I had chosen from the large menu in advance which was a good idea for the large group. I would definitely return to such a welcoming place which served excellent meals for the large party. Well done
