"yakinori sits on a section of the bristol road that is not known for its culinary excellence. it is student center; a stone throw from the university birmingham, where cheap beer and average Indian restaurants go hand-in-hand together, while pissed-up students cavort or do what pissed-up students do these days. I like this part of brum, because I can come with low expectations and not after home disappointed or broken. but eating good? No, that's a myth. or at least it was until yakinori arrived."

"Value for omakase is great £60/£75). The difference between 3 course and 5 course sushi omakase is an appetiser and the bowl of the day was a very salty soup with a crispy prawn legs? not sure but if you only eat the prawn it’s great). They are not too “wow” and they are not filling either, so 3 course should be fine. Main course wise, if you get the robata course, you will still get 3 sushi with skewers served on stone. If you get sushi course, you get 8 piece of sushi, 3 of which overlap with the robata course, and a pan fried tomato rice. Therefore, value wise Robata course Sushi course."

"This restaurant in London consistently serves fresh and delicious sushi at a fraction of the price of Nobu. It is truly a hidden gem and offers quality sushi that rivals that of Nobu."

"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."

"Took my friend for a birthday dinner here and my friend just kept saying how delicious the food is. We went on a Monday eve, so the food came out really quickly and the service was impeccable. What we had: Starters: Chips dips rice crackers with avocado shisho and tomato salsa. This was my least favourite dish and the one that I wouldn't order again. It wasn't bad but the rice crackers were a tad bland. 3/5 Beef fat potato chips those were **** amazing! Try them! 5/5 Fried squid with yuzu kosho mayo and Japanese spices they were spicy and moreish! Would order again for sure 5/5 Mains: Flesh bun crispy piglet belly! I absolutely love pork belly! It was melting in the mouth with a crispy skin what more can you want. 5/5 Miso glazed aubergine poke don classic Japanese way of cooking aubergine. Delicious! 5/5 Dessert: Kinako donuts solid choice but next time I'll try the fondant (takes 15min to cook apparently! The only thing that I found jarring with the whole ambiance of the place was the hentai in the toilets. I did appreciate it, it just looked a bit out of place and might raise some eyebrows"

"Yakinori has a dedicated Veg Vegan Menu of Japanese fusion food and the restaurant is fun and vibrant. Lots of vegan options and delicious, too. My favourites are the vegan yasai donburi, kabocha pumpkin katsu, vegan yasai ramen, the vegan sushi (especially the inari sweet tofu nigiri) and the vegan yasai gyoza. They do really good vegan bubble teas at Yakinori Bristol, too! The service is always warm and friendly and they also have 2 branches in Birmingham."

"hi sushi salsa is a Japanese restaurant located next to the chain lock, and the famous camden market. There is a lot of atmosphere especially on weekends when it is good time, and you can take advantage of tables on the outside terrace to eat on the water shore. Inside, it is a very modern space, with dark colors, a cocktail bar of Latin and Asian influences. because the restaurant mixes sushi, fusion cuisine, creative, with Japanese inspiration. the midday menu is served until 18:00, and the kitchen closes at 22 hours. It's joto behind the starbucks when you leave the city subway and go to the market. The weekend there's live music, a dj, and they take tables so you can dance. I can imagine the sushi bars on the west coast of the United States, which mix Latin culture with a healthy fresh fish meal."

"Fantastic! I came in with my family last friday and may I say I was not disappointed. The service was remarkable. Joana (the hostess assigned to our table) was very friendly, helpful but most importantly attentive to all our needs. She came every so often to refill our teas and waters (we didn't even have to ask). Hands down to the management training of this facility I am beyond impressed by the service. The dishes recommended were wonderful as well. Will be coming back soon and looking for my hostess!"

"This was my first visit and for my first visit, I brought alone my family and best friend and his family. As we all love Japanese food, our expectation was high. There was a great selection to choose from which also caters for people who is not a Sushi fan with rice, noodles and BBQ meals. The service was great, not too short, where you keep asking for more time, and not too long where you wished you went somewhere else. The food arrived hot and very well presented and you best come hungry as there is plenty of it. The Sushi is really fresh and very tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant for value for money, great food and friendly surrounding."

"I went with my friend and my toddler and I was impressed how kid friendly this place was. There was a small buggy park (which would only fit one maybe two prams but rare to find at all in restaurants), baby changing, highchairs and a kids menu. It is up a flight of stairs though if you are bringing a buggy but the waiter was so kind and immediately offered to help me with the buggy. All the waiters and waitresses were absolutely lovely, they were so attentive and helpful. Really kind and friendly. The food was delicious, I had the chickpea and aubergine stew with naan and it was lovely and warming on a cold winter’s day. My daughter very much enjoyed her meal which came with complimentary juice which she very much appreciated! My friend also had the stew and really liked it too. A really lovely spot and brilliant for kids, I felt so welcomed and everyone was so kind and helpful with my daughter."

"I gave them all 5 stars to be nice and nit hurt their score, but I really just want to complain that I have been asking them to adjust their deliveroo menu to make it possible to choose not to have mayonnaise on the sushi rolls and they won't do it. I would order like 20 times per month if they would just do it. Instead I never order because I hate mayonnaise with all my heart"

"I have been here 4 times in the last 2 years and the first 2 experiences were amazing, the third I felt like the quality was dropping but still ok. But I went last night with 4 friends and the waiter was really not bothered, my ramen had next to no toppings which I was quite gutted, I had 2 slivers of bamboo, for as the vegan ramen is really expensive for quite basic ingredients, but the star of the show for me was always the tofu cake which is an incredible home made tofu cake with seaweed and spices and it’s just to die for. They have now replaced the tofu cake with plain fried tofu and I just don’t think it was worth it. My friends who had not been said they enjoyed theirs (but also they had meat). Was somewhere I used to recommend for veggies but honestly it would have been worth £8, maybe…. Not £15. Such a shame as I loved this place."

"Shimogano opened in 2013 in a parade of shops on Camden Parkway. It is named after an ancient Kyoto Shinto shrine that is a UNESCO world heritage site. The restaurant has a small dining area and bar at ground level, the main dining room being in the basement. The décor is fairly basic, and the restaurant serves a wide variety of Japanese cuisine styles, from sushi to tempura to noodles and beyond. This slightly scattergun approach is normal in London but unusual in Japan, where most restaurants specialise, sometimes to an extreme degree e.g. some restaurants serve only eel, or only tonkatsu. It must be difficult for any restaurant to really master such a wide menu. See more at:...read more"

"This restaurant is a hidden gem. The service was excellent as we were attended to by the same gentleman throughout our meal. He was softly spoken and not intrusive, yet very attentive to our needs. He promptly refilled our drinks and offered us additional cutlery without us having to ask. The food exceeded our initial expectations, especially considering the reasonable prices of £8-15 for a main course."

"I'm at a loss for words. It could be amazing. I had made a reservation, but then they called to tell me they were closed. I appreciate the heads up, but it would be preferable if they didn't advertise as open when they're not."

"There is a strong online presence of a lunch menu for Kisaku. After confirming what my wife would like me to pick up, I was told upon arrival that there was no lunch menu. There was a similar dish for $12.50 instead of $7.50 on the regular menu. I felt completely disappointed to have traveled there to be offered a 65% price increase. The owner did not apologize. I went elsewhere and will never return. The place was completely empty at 1 pm, and I am not surprised. By the way, Kiasu is a Hokkien word that denotes a selfish and greedy attitude that arises from fear of missing out. I think the restaurant should change its name."
