"This is the best Indian food I have ever tasted! Don't underestimate this restaurant by its appearance - once you walk in, you will be amazed by the beautiful ambiance and delicious dishes. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and they offer a great variety of vegan and gluten-free options. Despite the ongoing Covid-19 situation, I felt very safe dining here as all the staff were wearing masks and practicing social distancing. The dining experience was still just as special. I will definitely be coming back to try the tasting menu!"

"Barcode was a delightful surprise. We stopped by for an early dinner before attending The Burnt City, and while the atmosphere initially made us a bit uneasy—its spacious, stark walls bathed in blue light from a game, reminiscent of a scene from Blade Runner—the food completely won us over. The lamb biryani was stunning, featuring perfectly fluffy rice and a crispy, flaky top. The goat roghan josh was packed with flavor and incredibly tender. However, the kid goat was the true star of the meal; it was exceptionally juicy, well-seasoned, and so tender that it practically melted in your mouth. I finally understand what the word “fragrant” means. The lamb momos were the perfect comfort food for a cold and damp London evening—juicy, spiced, and utterly irresistible. What a little gem this restaurant is! I can’t wait to come back."

"Amazing first visit! We had family visit us from Antwerp, Belgium and they asked me to book a surprise meal for my wife as she didn't know they were here in UK. Easy to book table via Instagram as don't use Facebook anymore. Friendly and welcoming staff on arrival. The food was superb. We all tried each others dishes as wanted to taste everything. I ordered the legendary Railway Lamb! My wife got the Chicken Tikka. Both full of fresh flavours. The chef popped over to say hi which was a nice touch. We'll definitely be back soon as want to try the signature Biriyani!"

"Went for my wife’s birthday for 9 people, food came in parts, cutlery missing, chipped plates, kept reminding them of missing order, drinks not delivered on time, no tissues, person serving (waiter) no where to be seen, terrible terrible service, very very ordinary food, tiny portions, nothing exceptional. Very disappointed and ruined wife’s birthday dinner and she clearly blames me. Will not be going again. Their Birmingham and Manchester branches are good but not the barking one."

"We came across this restaurant during our most recent visit to Bicester village. We went in because of the excellent reviews. It is a very small space with limited seating, and ambience is not great, but we were met with very friendly smiles and kind words. We went in with a toddler; they didn’t have a chair for the child, but we were happy to adjust. The dishes were served in white ikea plates, which was not very appealing. I would highly suggest you upgrade your crockery. Everything apart, the food served there was soo good. It was the best chicken tikka masala I’ve ever had!! The fish masala was too mild for us, but good. The chicken 65 starter was really good too! We waited a long time for our meal to arrive, but the chef herself came out to apologise to each table. The whole place could do with an uplift, but the service is great, and the food is excellent! I will definitely go back for more! Thank you!"

"Vada pav just for 1 pound was something unbelievable for me. The place has almost everything to offer. We tried to eat as much as we can. Started from Vada pav and mix Bhajji plate. Both were brilliant. They served vada pav with all the types of chutney. Misal pav was not as spicy as they serve in Maharashtra but the taste was surely close to authentic. Pav bhaji was really tasty. Thought of trying little chat items like bhelpuri and sev puri. Again excellent. Finished the meal with Malai and Gulkand kulfi. So creamy and delicious. We all had this just for less than 40 pounds. A must visit the place. Surely."

"One of the Best Indian authentic food I had in the UK. I'm a big time foodie and chef myself, and heard a lot from my friends about this place. Tried on a Sunday afternoon. The staff was very warm and cooperative, Manager Sunny Patel is a great host. We ordered Chicken Biryani, Chicken Malai Tikka, Vegetarian Paneer Schezuan Noodles and all things were really yummy. Even though Paneer was not mentioned in the Veg Noodles menu, but when I asked if they can customise the dish, they happily agreed. Portion size was great too. My 9 year old son liked it so much that he insisted to meet the Chef and say thanks. Met with chef Balbir who was hailing from Northern India (Uttrakhand) and thanked him for this really yummy food. You won't regret it if you are looking for great Indian food."

"Absolutely outstanding! First time ordering here and they smashed it out of the park. A couple of our regular curry houses had gone downhill and we'd tried a few places trying to find a new gem all were pretty average in all honesty. Akhtars was recommended to us by a friend who'd previously recommended our current favourite kebab house. Ordered a peshwari tikka creamy but with a kick, just my style. My wife ordered desi lamb, rich and spicy. Great spice blend, tender meat. Keema rice was excellent, prawn puri was perfect and the garlic naan, although slightly burnt, we quite like that charred flavour so not a negative there either. The mushroom pakoras didn't travel well but you e got to expect that. They were very tasty and a decent size portion. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Just sad that we're now on our January diet because I'd order from here twice a week! Really pleased we've found a new regular. No idea how much it cost, but after tasting the food, I don't really care. Awesome food and it arrived 25 minutes earlier than expected. I don't give out 5* very often, but this place would've got a 7*. Needless to say, we'll be ordering again."

"If u want food poisoninghighly recommend. Ordered the spicy grilled chicken wrap. Spicy means ginger not spicy, wrapped in cardboard hard tortilla probably expired. The worst wrap i have ever had. Also ordered the chicken box, rice was ok but chicken was the same. If u want to stop at the next services to use the bathroom buy food from here. If i cud id go to this shop right now to curse at them for the not only the bad food but putting me in misery becoz of food poisoning. "The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I will never ever set foot in this place again and I will continue to tell every person that I come across how terrible this ordeal was. We have been in contact with the 'boss ' of Nakodar catering since November where we had made our initial enquiry. This then continued into December where we engaged in a WhatsApp conversation to confirm the details of the catering required for my wedding of 350 people and the food. He then told us that we could come into the shop whenever we like to pay the deposit. We followed up again to ask whether or not he preferred cash or card and he said card is fine. We arrived at the store in January to be told by another lady that our booking does not exist and she had no idea what we were talking about!! She allowed us to speak to the 'boss ' on the phone who completely denied ever speaking to us! We sent WhatsApp messages to him whilst he was on the phone to highlight the conversation but he continued to deny everything and said that he would call us tomorrow. The way he spoke to my elderly mother on the phone was disgusting and caused her to have a panic attack once we got back into our car. At such short notice (less than 2 months until the event) we didn 't expect to find any other option but we definitely got lucky! He showed no remorse and was not interested at all in providing any kind of solution. Avoid at all costs."

"Hugely disappointed! I ordered a Peanut Butter Stack which I think had been sat on the shelf for weeks on end! My past experience when having a PBS has been, rich, sweet and absolutely delicious but yesterday 's experience was far from that, it was completely tasteless and it felt like I was chewing on polystyrene! Now, a PBS has always been accompanied with vanilla ice cream, when I asked the sales assistant where mine was, her reply was, we only give it if the customer asks for it . I mean, I know everyone is feeling the pinch, but please, Cafe Janan don 't deny us what we 've already paid for."
