"This place is worthy of a great review. I visited for a meal with my parents for their golden anniversary we were a table of ten. If you like good food that's perfectly cooked in a relaxed atmosphere with excellent service at a very reasonable price then this the place for you. Vegetarian options: The menu is small but there was two very good veggie options. Call ahead if you require GF/DF. Service: Dine in"

"After reading the reviews online my partner decided to bring me here to celebrate my new job. First impressions were bad, it’s extremely deceptive compared to how it’s pictured on the website, it’s very dark and gloomy, there was no obvious sign outside, especially as we came in the dark so we drove past it twice. The sign outside could do with some light decor. Prior to coming to Mango Room my partner called to book the table and informed them of my new job celebration and had asked the waitress if she could make the table look somewhat fancy/different to the other tables as a surprise for me in which she agreed to doing. When we arrived he asked her where the table was and she said “pick whatever table you want” meaning she completely disregarded his request. After receiving the menu that was broken and looked extremely cheap and flimsy for the prices they charge, I also realised the food was very overpriced. I asked the waitress for the set menu and she said that only gets provided for groups of people over 10. It didn’t state that on the website and can be misconstrued as false advertisement. I can not believe for one small portioned size jerk chicken it cost £13 alone you then have to pay extra for a side which is around 3.50 4.00. When reluctantly ordering the food which was Jerk chicken rice peas, we also requested coleslaw and dumplings, the waitress replied “we don’t do coleslaw or dumplings here, the owner doesn’t like it” ... it’s not about what the owner doesn’t like it’s about your food audience. How can you run a Caribbean restaurant without coleslaw or dumplings? It’s key in West Indian food. I found that to be very obscured. The waitress then said “it’s fine dining, we don’t do that here”... I did not know consuming dumplings and coleslaw meant it was not fine dining. Whilst waiting for my food, I asked for some water the waitress brought out a jug of water which seemed to have a booger stain on the side, very very off putting. When the food eventually came out in which waiting time wasn’t long because the restaurant wasn’t busy, the plates were extremely hot, it seemed as though the chef just reheated/microwaved the rice and peas causing the dish within itself to be piping hot to the point where I couldn’t even hold it and had to messily dish out the rice myself with the small spoon provided. The rice and peas were extremely overcooked and stodgy, there was hardly any gravy with the jerk chicken. The jerk chicken was undercooked, had no flavour whatsoever and did not fall of the bone with basic sweet pepper slice and red onions for decoration. The plantain was extremely undercooked, very burnt on the outside and tasted wet, clumpy and soggy on the inside I’ve never tasted plantain so renk. The waitress did give us complimentary tulip glasses of champagne, which was nice. My partner did say that he enjoyed his curry goat which was very tender, he had that with plain rice. Overall I feel this restaurant is extremely overrated, extortionate and wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. The only pros were the company I had and leaving. I would’ve much preferred going turtle bay, the atmosphere and decor is so much better and you get your monies worth. Turtle Bay is extremely commercial so this is a huge compliment to them as I’m not too fond of them either."

"Food was not as expected My wife’s Sticky chicken was dry and tough (obviously reheated) so when she pointed this out politely and without making a fuss was promptly offered an alternative which she declined because that’s what she ordered and it should have been worth eating in the first place ! I must point out that the the lady serving was very nice and apologetic however was less impressed with the response from the person who gave us the bill who when I questioned about paying full price for that meal was promptly reminded that my wife refused a replacement and should have requested a price reduction before she printed off the bill and in full earshot of other diners which we didn’t appreciate ! However the bill was adjusted and we left the restaurant with the opinion that we would now not choose to return. Such a shame because it’s a lovely old restaurant with plenty of character and we’d eaten there before on our last holiday to Looe Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £60–70 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2"

"I’ll try to give as much unbiased review as possible here, exclusively based on the menu items we ordered. I’ll rate these on the standard scale of 1 5. Hong Kong Roast Duck with Rice 5/5 Great portion and flavour. Chicken Katsu Curry with Fried Noodles 5/5 Excellent taste and great portion. Crispy Aromatic Duck with pancakes 3/5 The duck was not shredded. I never had this item from any takeaway place, where there expect the customer to shred the duck! Ah well. However the duck meat quality was not the best either. Too dry and chewy. BBQ ribs 1/5 Only bones and no meat whatsoever in most of the pieces. The pieces which did have some meat were super chewy and tasted stale. Being an avid foodie I could make out immediately that we were served very old meat. Overall 3/5, based on the above items. The meat quality overall was certainly not great. To me it was nothing special just your standard Chinese Takeaway."

"I didn't stay overnight, so please disregard the room rating. However, ten of us dined here twice in three days! Location-wise, it's very central, right on the edge of the old town center, though it is uphill. As for the food and drinks, we had a fantastic experience for under £400, which included wine for some. The menu features nice, straightforward French cuisine with excellent options like steak, duck à l'orange, and skate wing. The bistro atmosphere is lovely, and the service was commendable. My ratings: Rooms: 3, Service: 4, Location: 5."

"The food and flavours were good what there was of it. The bbq is a real novelty but service needs to be improved and value for money is not good, very overpriced. When you ask a waitress for something three times and they still dont bring it there is clearly something wrong. "What a fantastic little gem with beautiful views of the beach! We dined here one evening during our visit to Cornwall. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their food and drink offerings. They have a fantastic selection of gin, featuring many local Cornish options to try. The food was also exceptional, showcasing a variety of locally sourced ingredients on the menu. You absolutely have to try the salt and pepper shaker—it’s a must! We will definitely be back on our next visit."

"I visited this restaurant a few months ago after reading a review on 'McrFinest'. I had been searching for a good fish restaurant for a while, and this one did not disappoint! My partner and I shared the Oysters as an appetizer. For starters, I had the risotto and he had the fish cakes. For our main course, we both had the John Dory and enjoyed a bottle of red wine with our meal. The restaurant was lovely, the food was delicious, and I am looking forward to returning. The service was excellent as well."

"My friend and I stumbled on this pub following our walk exploring the coastline and castle. . The first thing we noticed was that the venue was very popular, which is a good sign. . On entering the pub we were made to feel very welcome by the two lads working behind the bar and both knew how to welcome tourists to the pub and make you feel at home. . We only planned to have a drink, but after seeing the food and seeing how amazing the staff were serving other customers we decided to stay for dinner. So glad we did, the waghu burger was amazing and the best I've had for a while. . Great pub and just what you need after a long walk. Go take a look. Food drinks: The food was excellent and much more than the usual pub grub. . Great selection of local beers guiness"

"When we arrived, I went inside to confirm that we could bring our dogs. I was met by an incredibly rude server who asked if we had made a reservation and rolled his eyes when we said no, not realizing it was required. We opted to sit outside, as it was a beautiful day and would be more comfortable for the dogs. As I was tying up the dogs and getting the kids settled, the server impatiently asked if we wanted drinks. We requested a few minutes to get organized, but he sighed and walked away. When he returned, one of our dogs barked softly, and he harshly insisted we put them back in the car, which made us very uncomfortable. At that point, we decided to leave, as we no longer felt confident about enjoying our meal there. Thankfully, we found the Tayvallich Cafe down the road, where we had a delightful lunch served by friendly and attentive staff. I highly recommend skipping the Tayvallich Inn and heading to the cafe instead."

"We picked up a takeaway. The food was probably 3.5/5 and the value 2/5. Char sui mixed veg, was tasty, but 4 decent pieces of char sui...? Peeking ribs, not great at all and £9 for 8 x 2 inch pieces isn't value. Hot Sour soup, again average. Plain soft noodles, very nice. Have certainly had worse, but won't be going back. Other similar takeaways in the area out compete here."

"First time here as were camping up the road. On arrival for the Jazz and Fizz at lunchtime Daniel was warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The beautiful secluded garden is a delight with thatched pods. We decided to dine here in the evening and sat in the upstairs restaurant. Again Daniel was very welcoming. Our waitress was Grace who was lovely, a very knowledgeable young lady. Both lunchtime and evening you couldn't fault the food, first class. Good wine selection, one small criticism a shame they do not have beer and lager on tap, bottles only. Can't recommend The River Rat highly enough. Will certainly be returning."

"I had an amazing dining experience at La Salutè. The service was exceptional, with a warm welcome and superb food. I will definitely be dining here again soon. Thank you to all the staff at La Salutè for a wonderful evening. I highly recommend trying the Cheesecake, Lasagne Bolognese, Calzone, and a Pint of Peroni. The atmosphere was also great, receiving a 5-star rating in all aspects. The price per person was in the range of £40-50 for a dinner meal."

"Wouldn't recommend. Mussels weren't cleaned properly so still had beards attached, were over cooked and many of the shells were broken. Hummus tasted just like blitzed tinned chickpeas, couldn't taste any lemon, tahini, garlic or olive oil. Batter on the fish was soggy. French fries were stale and under seasoned. Very expensive considering the modest portion sizes and lackluster quality. 4 out of 10, would have been less but the sourdough was excellent."

"The host greeted us warmly, and even though our stay was brief, we felt very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic. The ferry and train station are conveniently close, and parking is within walking distance. Nearby activities include the ferry. Overall, I would rate the rooms 4/5, service 4/5, and location 5/5. Hotel highlights include a great view, family-friendly atmosphere, and excellent value."

"One of the best meals I've had in recent memory. The moules marinerre had me scraping the bowl for the last of the broth/sauce, both it and the bisque were so warming and comforting with the bread making a perfectly buttery accompaniment for dipping/mopping. Ideal for a cold winters evening. The skate in lobster butter for main was unbelievable, the skate was as moist and delicate as the sauce was decadent (not to mention it being a very generous portion). Even the desserts were delicious, in particular the sorbet which was lovely and refreshing after such a hearty starter and main. These are the meals you dream of when going to a seaside town. Everything was cooked to perfection, lovely staff and ambience. I can't praise this place enough."

"I have been here many times over the years but since it has been the “mussel box” I fear it’s a bit hit and miss. The food is “good” and service “good” but it’s not much more than that. I’ve experienced that if you come at off peak times, as we have in October this time, the menu options are a bit lacklustre and the outside glass dining space was freezing. My partner had a whole hake which was very skinny, and hard to find much to actually eat on the plate. The starters however were gorgeous! I don’t doubt this place has good food and service, i just don’t think it’s one I will return to as there are definitely better option in Padstow ."

"What a fantastic retro restaurant! When retro is executed this well, it truly stands out. The starters are delightful—don’t miss the Grilled Sardines. The main courses are outstanding; the Dover Sole is incredibly tender, and even the well-done Calves Liver was wonderfully flavorful. The desserts are exceptional, and the espresso provides a perfect finish to an excellent meal. With wine, the total was £80—a remarkable value! We’ll definitely return very soon! Service: Dine-in."

"**Dining Experience**: Lunch **Price Range**: £10–20 I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant for lunch, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The food was outstanding, earning a perfect score of 5 out of 5. Each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor, making it an enjoyable meal from start to finish. Equally impressive was the service, which also deserves a 5 out of 5 rating. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for a satisfying lunch at a reasonable price!"
