The food was outstanding, earning a perfect score of 5 out of 5. Each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor, making it an enjoyable meal from start to finish. Equally impressive was the service, which also deserves a 5 out of 5 rating. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a pleasant experience. "We had a big group meal with about 16 of us and the service was outstanding! The food was absolutely delightful. I must say a big thank you to the lady so helped with the bill at the end, being a group of young adults sorting out the bill took some time and the lady was beyond patient when sorting it out. "One of the best meals I've had in recent memory. The moules marinerre had me scraping the bowl for the last of the broth/sauce, both it and the bisque were so warming and comforting with the bread making a perfectly buttery accompaniment for dipping/mopping. Ideal for a cold winters evening. The skate in lobster butter for main was unbelievable, the skate was as moist and delicate as the sauce was decadent (not to mention it being a very generous portion). Even the desserts were delicious, in particular the sorbet which was lovely and refreshing after such a hearty starter and main. These are the meals you dream of when going to a seaside town. Everything was cooked to perfection, lovely staff and ambience. I can't praise this place enough."

"A friend and I booked here as a treat for my birthday earlier in the year. We'd had 2 nights at fistral beach prior to staying at Rick's Cafe in Padstow. We were really looking forward to experiencing Rick's renowned menu. Our table was booked for 7.30pm. We ordered starters after 8pm and I know scallops are a special treat but £19.95 for 3 felt expensive but as we were at St Petrocs I thought it will be worth it. My friend order the fish soup for her main, which we eventually received well after 9pm after asking where they were. We didn't order desserts. We asked for the bill which also took a while and then the restaurant had emptied and no-one came to let us pay. We walked to the reception and asked kitchen staff if we could pay. All the waiting staff were in the office. The manager/concierge took our payment without acknowledgement of our wait. The waitress had removed the soup from the bill as my friend had gone past wanting it after ordering nearly 2 hours previously. Not the standard of service or experience expected. Disappointing took the shine off, although food was nice but not as outstanding as expected."

"The host greeted us warmly, and even though our stay was brief, we felt very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic. The ferry and train station are conveniently close, and parking is within walking distance. Nearby activities include the ferry. Overall, I would rate the rooms 4/5, service 4/5, and location 5/5. Hotel highlights include a great view, family-friendly atmosphere, and excellent value."

"This restaurant was an incredible surprise! We were on our way to our hotel and decided to stop by without checking any reviews. As we entered, we noticed a sign asking for patience due to being short-staffed, which made me a bit skeptical. However, the delicious smells wafting from outside hinted that we were in for something special. In the end, the staff was fantastic and attentive, and the food was outstanding—we ordered the seafood platter for two. They also offer gluten-free bread that actually tastes like real bread! But the real highlight was their salmon chowder, which I had never tried before; now I can’t imagine enjoying chowder any other way. I highly recommend you visit and experience it for yourself!"

"The people working there are friendly and they had two vegan options (not in the menu) when I was there (and some veggie/vegetarian options on the menu). I had lentil curry with vegetables and rice. We called ahead to check first. And the setting is neat, near the cliff leading down to the harbour and beach. "I visited this restaurant a few months ago after reading a review on 'McrFinest'. I had been searching for a good fish restaurant for a while, and this one did not disappoint! My partner and I shared the Oysters as an appetizer. For starters, I had the risotto and he had the fish cakes. For our main course, we both had the John Dory and enjoyed a bottle of red wine with our meal. The restaurant was lovely, the food was delicious, and I am looking forward to returning. The service was excellent as well."

"Parking is available, and the staff is incredibly friendly and efficient. They also maintain good social distancing measures. The food was absolutely outstanding—definitely the best I've ever had. If you love fish and seafood, the selection here is amazing. If you're not a fan (like my sister, who can't stand it), the options are more limited, but still very tasty. My brother-in-law and I sampled each other's dishes, as well as our sisters' meals, and everything was delightful. The portion sizes are perfect, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. I can't recommend this place enough! I can't wait to go back again and again."

They mentioned that they can prepare something for me if I call ahead, but I prefer to see vegan items and prices on the menu before going in. I do not have any allergies, I just choose not to consume animal products. I would like to be treated the same as any other customer. Additionally, I am interested in trying a vegan dessert."

"Wow!! What can I say !!! The last time I came here was 2016 with my son and the restaurant consisted of a couple of tables and no toilet !!! We had no preconceptions and came with my in laws who live on the island!!! After a bit of a Rocky start with service the food was delivered!! To say that the quality and quantity was out of this world was an understatement!!! We all ordered the sea food platter !!! The variety of beautiful fish was outstanding and so was the freshness and quality!!! The waitress who’s Birthday it was dressed in a beautiful pink dress who's shift started while we were in the middle of our meal was the best !!! Make sure you keep her she turned the service to an outstanding immediately!!! This restaurant is an absolute must if you visit the island !!! If you compare the quality and freshness along with the price it beats the Hut in Colwell Bay in every category hands down !!!We will talk about our experience for many months and can’t wait until we are back next year to experience it again !!! Sea food Heaven !!Thanks for the best night out we have had all year"

"Had to wait about an hour to get in on a Saturday night. The fish and chips I can definitely recommend, while the Scottish cheese platter is definite no go it's just 3 pieces of cheese and some extra fruits for 12 pounds, hardly seemed worth it. Service was not great, the servers were struggling to keep up with the pace as the evening was quite busy, asked for extra plates and had to ask twice, hard to catch their glance if you need something. Regarding the wait although there were 4+ tables free people were being told to wait for 15 20 minutes, really not sure why. Not only that, but people were either not let into the corridor into the restaurant or were let in, but the door wasn't closed and a breeze kept being let in."

"I gave this 3 stars based on the lack of atmosphere and character it used to have. The food was excellent as always and we have been coming here for probably 20+ years. Big paper signs at back door by car park to use front door unless disabled, hence the majority of folk coming in front door and despite fire on it was baltic. Table service only so sorta missed the locals standing by the bar chatting .. felt like I was still in covid era, won't rush back."

"Great authentic Portuguese/Madeiran food. Especially good fish. Ask the waiter to recommend. My favourite is the grilled sardine salad and the pork or lamb chops which are huge! They do the traditional hanging beef skewers which are really good also. Good ambiance always lots of...local Portuguese eating here. Prices really good for the food. It’s a family run restaurant so if you want fast service go to a chain. The food is worth the wait, just take good company and enjoy the meal."

"On arriving we were told that they had our booking down for the following night, we were offered complimentary drinks whilst we had to wait for a table. When I booked earlier in the week I asked that steak and ale pie and steak would...be available as 5 of the 10 off us did not eat fish, I was assured that both would be available. We got to the table and ordered to then be told sorry no steak and ale pie! 3 steaks were ordered with peppercorn sauce, one of the steaks were eaten before this arrived and when my son tried his it was not a sauce it was warmed up cream with peppercorns in! We were not charged for some of the meals and the people who ordered fish were very happy with it but for me it spoilt the evening which was a birthday celebration and college graduation!"

"On arrival we felt like it was issue that our 85 year old mum had a walker to aid her walking. The owner/head of house was rude about it, asked if the step was an issue for us. The young waitress was very friendly but was obviously struggling with a cold and kept on sniffing. Food was nice, but the main came out very quickly after the starter.. not great on the welcome or being made to feel welcome. Like not being local was an issue. Wheelchair accessibility: Very poor, no wheelchair, but my 85 yr old mother in law was made to feel embarrassed as she has a walker. We were asked if it could be folded away and asked if they could put it elsewhere, like it being in the restaurant was an issue."
