"So, I have been here once before the food was absolutely AMAZING and I have been really looking forward to coming here again The lobster last time was the most amazing lobster I have ever eaten in the UK. a good size, cooked to...perfection! On this occasion sadly, I feel as though the standard has completely dropped. The lobster was mushy which suggests it had not been stored properly (this usually happens when the lobster has been killed and left in the fridge for too long so the enzymes begin to break down the meat) I also found a hair at the side of my plate I let the waiter know and he just said ‘at least it’s not on your food, and wiped it off with his finger’ no apology that was it. I said nothing after this because I could sense by his energy that me saying anything more was going to become a battle I didn’t not have the energy for on this occasion Anyway I started writing my review and the waiter had seen so said ‘it’s that about me’ so I explained to him my concerns with the food. And he said ‘ok don’t damage the business’ He also explained that it’s the same chef etc but in all honesty that’s none of my business, from having such an amazing experience before to this. I am deeply disappointed. He did remove a apple juice and the service charge from the bill and apologised that the food was not the same and hoped we would have a better experience next time. This didn’t do much as I didn’t plan on paying the service charge anyway. Unfortunately I won’t be returning as that was a waste of on a unsatisfactory meal for people."

"Been meaning to go to the Store for a roast dinner for a while as i have eaten here before and the atmosphere, drinks and food have always been top. Unfortunately the roast dinner did not live up to expectations. The roast beef is 19£ in which you would expect it to be very high standard. We ordered all the sides as it was a girly get together and we had been looking forward to the roast for ages. To our surprise, the food came out pretty quick we ordered 2 x beef and 1 chicken. The beef had 1 slice of beef 2 potato 2 carrots some sort of small onion cabbage thing and 1 piece of broccoli and a dried out Yorkshire pudding FOR 19£!! I couldn't believe it, our sides then came out the cauliflower cheese had hardly any cheese or sauce, the pigs in blankets were burnt and some missing blankets, the stuffing was the only decent side. My other friends chicken then came out which looked like a better portion side but was unfortunately cold. She sent this straight back and believes that it was microwaved and given back to her so she refused it. Me and my other friend was so hungry we had no choice but to eat the food. We pulled this up with the waitress and if im honest she couldnt have been happier to help. They dealt with the situation very well. We was offered a discount on the food and extra roasties. I can say that when eatting the roast the gravy was good but the potatoes were not good and the lack of food on the plate for 19£ put an overall sore taste in our months. The way the staff handle the complaint was second to none so on this basis i will be returning to the restaurant just probably not order a roast. If the price wasnt so high there wouldnt be such high expectations. Maybe something to consider for the future."

"We booked for afternoon tea, and used the postcode in our satnav, which brought us to the gate of a retirement village, with a sign which mentioned 'Lytton Restaurant ' amongst other titles. We drove in and found no further direction signs at all, just street names. Eventually, we parked in one of the few visitor spaces and wandered towards a large building which had a free standing sign outside advertising physio services to ask for directions. The receptionist at the desk chirped 'Oh yes, the restaurant is over there ', pointing behind us. When we said we 'd been struggling to find the place, we were told 'There 's a sign at the gate '. The restaurant was very pleasantly furnished, but there was a party of very noisy ladies who were hugely enjoying some stories, at the expense of everyone else in the room. Our table was not ready, but was hastily sanitised and cutlery and napkins arrived. We were offered water, which came in a jug, but with no glasses, and the waiter was gone so fast that we didn 't manage to catch his attention. Gradually, coffee, glasses and afternoon tea arrived, but the staff seemed to need prompting for a lot of things, as if untrained in the procedure. The sandwiches provided were nothing out of the ordinary, as were the warmed scones, but the cakes were disappointing miniatures which would have graced a doll 's house. The 'carrot cake ' was a dry, cinnamon flavoured sponge with a wisp of orange peel on top, and the red velvet cake was halved for sharing. Not once did a member of staff approach to check if everything was satisfactory, or whether we needed anything we had to ask for coffee refills, after waiting to catch their attention. The plan had been to reconnoitre for a larger party to visit for afternoon tea; we very quickly decided that The Lytton at Chalfont Dene was unsuitable for anything more than a group of four, who don 't expect much in the way of service. Thoroughly disappointing, poor value for money, and we won 't be back."
