"Been meaning to go to the Store for a roast dinner for a while as i have eaten here before and the atmosphere, drinks and food have always been top. Unfortunately the roast dinner did not live up to expectations. The roast beef is 19£ in which you would expect it to be very high standard. We ordered all the sides as it was a girly get together and we had been looking forward to the roast for ages. To our surprise, the food came out pretty quick we ordered 2 x beef and 1 chicken. The beef had 1 slice of beef 2 potato 2 carrots some sort of small onion cabbage thing and 1 piece of broccoli and a dried out Yorkshire pudding FOR 19£!! I couldn't believe it, our sides then came out the cauliflower cheese had hardly any cheese or sauce, the pigs in blankets were burnt and some missing blankets, the stuffing was the only decent side. My other friends chicken then came out which looked like a better portion side but was unfortunately cold. She sent this straight back and believes that it was microwaved and given back to her so she refused it. Me and my other friend was so hungry we had no choice but to eat the food. We pulled this up with the waitress and if im honest she couldnt have been happier to help. They dealt with the situation very well. We was offered a discount on the food and extra roasties. I can say that when eatting the roast the gravy was good but the potatoes were not good and the lack of food on the plate for 19£ put an overall sore taste in our months. The way the staff handle the complaint was second to none so on this basis i will be returning to the restaurant just probably not order a roast. If the price wasnt so high there wouldnt be such high expectations. Maybe something to consider for the future."

AWFUL PLACE drinks overpriced they add on service charge to every drink you order at bar without telling you. Kept complaint but the rude female manager on duty was either really stupid or just plain ignorant such a shame as bar itself it’s interior design is amazing

The drinks were very expensive, especially once the service charge was added. This was the case even if you were just stopping by the bar for a beer. The young man at the register provided excellent customer service and was very pleasant, in contrast to the rude and dismissive manager.

First time at the The Store. Service was great, Food not so much we had 2 x roast Beef: Beef was tough 1 x roast chicken: more bone than meat 1 x lamb: was okay but quite a lot of fat. Could just have been an off day as one member of party has eaten hear before and recomended the beef.

We recently hosted our company Christmas Party at The Treehouse and I would highly recommend it. Aaron and Aden remained calm despite the venue being fully booked, and the service was outstanding. The food was delicious and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We will definitely return for future events.

Attended the summer party last night delicious free cocktails courtesy of EnGine gin followed by live music by the wonderful Harry Marshall. Great taster bites too. Food is always great here but what brings me back time time again are the fantastic friendly team who work at The Store. Friendly, fun, attentive, welcoming (and great photographers too)! Love this place. For the quality of food drinks the prices are appropriate so don’t be put off by other reviews.

Avoid this restaurant at all costs. My friends and I visited for drinks and were shocked by the high prices. We did not receive a receipt for our purchase, and after noticing a service charge on other customers' receipts, I asked the staff about it. They explained that it was standard practice to add a service charge without informing the customer. As a pub manager myself, I know that this is unacceptable. The manager was uncooperative and refused to remove the charge. It's clear that transparency and customer satisfaction are not a priority at this establishment.

Food Matters. We were astounded by the experience we had on Saturday 22nd July 2023. We unfortunately cannot say anything positive about our brief visit. We found it necessary to leave immediately after our coctails and starters arrived. We eat with our eyes and I couldn't believe that a restaurant with the reviews we had read would try to pass the food and drink we received off as acceptable. £13.50 for a cocktail in a shot glass which wasn't even the coctails we ordered beer was also flat. Food was similar to frozen fast food which was over cooked. Management need to Seriously address above issues.

Unfortunately this place has gone down hill. I used to visit for brunch and a roast but after the dinner I had last night I won’t return. I arrived early and the restaurant was so quiet, as always minimal staff to take care of people so despite it being quiet, service was slow. They had no white wine by the glass apart from Chenin awaiting a delivery. This has happened every time I’ve been there. The main issue was the food. Sea bass main, lumpy tasteless lukewarm mash, a thin piece of sea bass that was tasteless and over cooked green beans. Tasted like it had been reheated and reminded me of school dinners. Won’t return.

I booked The Store for a school Mum’s night out with a group of Mums, many of whom I’d never met before. It turned out to be the perfect place. I loved the decor and general feel of the restaurant with smaller tables to the front and then a large table at the back Andy Private comfortable looking bench seating table area in an anti room at the back, separated by glass. I booked a large table (not knowing how many drop outs we’d get on the night). I didn’t pre order from the menu as I didn’t want to pressurise everyone into eating. In the end however, we all ended up eating and the restaurant was very accommodating. The food was varied and delicious and everybody enjoyed food from both the ma...

"I hadn't been here since my mother brought me as a teenager in 1965, when it was the Chalet Suisse. We were welcomed by a waitress seeing us coming and opening the door for us, ushered to a table by the window. We both had a fish dish, myself a crab-stuffed fillet of plaice, my wife a seabass paella with mussels. My plaice was succulently fresh, with a subtly spiced filling and sauce, The new potatoes were perfect. My wife is from a fishing family in Brittany so really knows her fish, and her saffron paella met with unconditional approval. The buckshee bread chunks in a basket already on the table were left, so I could enjoy mopping up the last of the lovely flavour of the juice. After polishing off the little extra pot of sweet potato fries, for dessert we had a special, Eton Mess, and banana cream profiteroles, which we swapped half way through, just gorgeous, and a filter coffee to finish off. With a couple of beers all for a fraction over £50 this was extraordinary value. This was no ordinary pub-chain grub. Every dish had something unusual and special to commend it, whether the spicy crab or the tart passionfruit syrup setting off the usually overwhelmingly sweet Eton Mess. This was proper cooking by someone who really knows their stuff, nicely presented but without fuss. Our fellow diners were all friendly and accomodating in a fairly small space, some engaging in jolly conversation with us. The service was attentive, kind. and unobtrusive. There was music but not overly loud and the atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried. I've heard this place mentioned by others before over the years and very much wish we'd made the effort to visit before now, our wedding anniversary. We will go again for sure, and take others with us too!"

"This is a small, very nice, non-chain coffee shop selling tea, coffee, some savoury sandwiches plus snacks and cakes. (Not to be confused with 'Smoothbean ' which is also in Croydon and also very good, but the two have no connection.)What 's good about it? It 's non-chain, so you 're actually dealing with nice people offering good service, not just wage slaves at the front end of a vast, impersonal corporation. The quality of the tea and coffee is as good as anywhere else. The service is warm, human, friendly and personal. The staff are efficient and helpul but also pleasantly informal. They don 't have a very wide selection of things to eat. However, what they DO have is all very nice and good value, whether you want savoury and healthy or sweet and indulgent. I loved the little 'bakesmiths ' cakes they sell that say 'made by hand in small batches ' on the label. What 's maybe not so good? Well, it 's not in what you 'd call a great location. Plus it 's really small. Upstairs (at street level) there are just two small tables and space for maybe five or six people at most (assuming some don 't mind sitting at the window). Downstairs, there are a chairs and sofas providing room for about eight people, although it 's a bit cramped. All in all, the think to love about Crushed Bean is the tone, the atmosphere, the fact that it 's small, friendly and informal and run by human beings rather than branded corporate drones intent on hitting targets. Go there at a not-too-busy time and you can enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet and know that you 're choosing to support a small, independent coffee shop and not one of the behemoth chains. Bonus good point #1: if you ask for your milk on the side, it comes in a miniature milk bottle. This cute touch should be standard practice but isn 't.Bonus good point #2: They offered me a free tea refill. Nowhere else that I 've been to does this.Bonus good point #3: They are right opposite Cake Box, a wonderful emporium of gloriously unhealthy options."
