"We had an amazing experience at this restaurant. Our waitress, Lucy, was fantastic. She was always attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, including drinks. I highly recommend visiting this place because of her excellent service. Lucy is a wonderful person and definitely made our visit memorable."

"I'm really pleased with the restaurant's new appearance; it feels like an upscale venue. The staff consistently checks in to see if you need anything, which I greatly appreciate—they truly prioritize service. My lunch was delicious and served hot at the table. I highly recommend the Slug and Lettuce in South Woodford!"

"had advertised “offers” outside, which were no longer offered because they apparently kovid?! many things that are not available on the menu, but this can have been by working at the weekend. had no high chair available, but the personal tried to try to find a nearby bar so that was helpful. the food was nice, but the portion size was not very generous."

"The Slug and Lettuce is a chain restaurant located in the Montpellier Quarter in Harrogate. Situated in a charming old house, it overlooks the Montpellier Hill Gardens. It is a great spot for a quick snack, afternoon coffee, or a glass of wine later in the evening. They occasionally set up a few tables outside, but the summer weather in Harrogate can be unpredictable. For larger groups, they offer a private room on the first floor for special occasions or corporate events. The menu features classic English dishes as well as some Oriental options like stuffed paprika and curry rice. The chicken dishes are particularly flavorful, and there are also Mediterranean options available. On Mondays, there is a 50% discount on food, and the Sunday brunch is highly recommended. Prices have been lowered due to the current crisis, and more information can be found on their website."

"My friend and I met at Canary Wharf for our first get together for months and we wandered into the Slug Lettuce to ask if they could do us a snack and a drink and they couldn't have been more helpful, especially when we asked if we could move away from an open door as it had gone rather chilly! Shannon looked after us very well with some helpful suggestions and our food and drinks arrived quite promptly. We sat and chatted and felt very comfortable there. Nice and clean, plenty of space between the tables and the background music was nice and low so we could hear ourselves speak."

"I believe they needed more staff on the Saturday we visited, as the service was quite slow, especially when it came to drinks. We also had to send a meal back because it wasn't hot. They didn't even acknowledge that it was a birthday celebration. We won't be returning."

"When we arrived at the restaurant, we were informed that we needed to pre-order the Mother's Day menu, which had not been mentioned when we made the reservation. It would have been helpful if someone had called ahead to let us know, as we all wanted to try the set roast Mother's Day menu. When we tried to order drinks, the bartender seemed flustered and annoyed, and did not allow us to open a tab. The restaurant had the football game on, which is understandable since it is a sports bar, but it was so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. This was particularly frustrating as there were families with children present. We asked for the volume to be turned down, and although they did adjust it, it was still very loud. Additionally, they gave us a table for six instead of the seven we had booked for, plus a buggy, without any prior consideration. The only positive aspect of our experience was that the restaurant was clean."

"I ordered the lasagna, which was a bit messy and clearly heated up in the microwave. It felt overpriced for what we received. Additionally, the music was way too loud, making it difficult for the bartender to hear my husband while he was placing our order for food and drinks."

"Then, a man named Dan approached us and rudely placed a 'reserved' sign on our table, saying, "We need this table at 4 PM." When I pointed out we had about 50 minutes left, he responded in a rather condescending manner. I assured him that if we had our food by then, it wouldn't be a problem since we planned to eat and leave, not stay for drinks. Meanwhile, I noticed that a similarly sized table next to us was reserved for 3:30 PM and decorated with Pride accessories. At 3:45 PM, a female waitress approached our table and insisted that we needed to leave. I explained that we had ordered food that hadn’t arrived yet and were still enjoying our drinks. Dan returned, still with an unpleasant attitude, and reiterated that they needed our table due to a booking. I informed him that we were not leaving because we were still waiting for our food. He continued to be rude, asking me what he was supposed to do about the booking. I pointed out that we had already ordered food and that it wasn't our fault if they hadn’t managed their reservations properly; you can’t just slap a reserved sign on a table and expect us to leave. He then told me, "I'll refund your food order," which was completely unacceptable. The entire exchange was uncomfortable, with my daughter witnessing the rude behavior and false statements from Dan, such as him claiming that "upstairs is for bookings only," which was simply not true. I suggested that they could seat the reservation at the table next to us that was still unoccupied, even though it was past the booking time. After walking away, he soon returned to request the reservation card, which I passed to him. He then replaced the reservation card at the next table with our 4 PM booking card. It was that simple. This whole altercation was unnecessary and really put a damper on what was meant to be a celebratory day for me and my daughter. I genuinely believe that Dan needs additional training on handling reservations and understanding that paying customers have the right to occupy a table until their food has been served. We shouldn't have to endure such a hostile experience."

"we visited the krone in egham, but do not have the opportunity to visit them. we discovered this pub that is in the same chain and served the same menu (almost). it is fast to our local pub. look at the brot and the butter pudding, this is the best of all time! the duck seems to never be available, however, and Sunday triple roast does not live entirely up to expectations, but overall we have visited several, only for the other excellent dishes and the service. dogs are also welcome."

"Booked here for my partners mothers day meal with me and our two children. Booked for 5pm as our children need to be in bed for 7.30pm Menu was very limited with not a great deal to chose from and after waiting for our food for over an hour (which I kind of expected and wasn’t to mad at with it being Mother’s Day) I decided to ask a staff member to check in on our food which turned out that our food had not even been made. They offered to put the food on but at this point it was too late so we had to leave. A full refund was issued but unfortunately we won’t be returning."

"while watching the football the bouncers key letting in people before me. I had been waiting the longest to join my friends inside but they kept letting everyone Infront of me. All football lads, while I'm dressed more like a person who just wants a drink. When asking if i can come in they kept saying 2 minute. Feels bad"

"Lovely pub with good atmosphere and prompt friendly service. The food was disappointing though even though we ordered from the more expensive main menu. The fish pie was bland and contained mostly air and very little fish. The sausages were dry and tasted as though they had been cooked earlier and then microwaved. The barbecue sauce that was supposed to be on the Hunter's Chicken was a blended tin of tomatoes and the chicken salad was over-powered by raw onion. Great real ale though so would go again for a drink but not to eat."

"For me, there was a great selection of savory options, including not just sandwiches, but also wraps with various fillings that were a nice departure from the usual offerings. The cakes were absolutely delicious, and the portions were the largest I've ever seen, warm to the touch. Since it was Easter, there were some lovely extra touches for the children. My daughter had her face painted by a talented artist who was stationed nearby and created a beautiful flower design while engaging in friendly conversation with my 9-year-old. We also had a visit from the Easter Bunny, who handed out Easter eggs. Our waitress, whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, was very attentive and accommodating, ensuring that nothing was too much trouble. The staff at Quart Pot are always friendly, and every experience I’ve had there has been pleasant. Well done!"

"I love love love this place! I have been coming here so long that it SEEMS like I was here in 1189! Everything about this place is fantastic the food, the ales, the history, the staff I always feel like I am in my local pub every time I come here! Ask nicely and you may get a tour of the cellar. You could spend hours walking around, exploring every cubbyhole of this place. And make sure to give a go at the Ring and Horn game and if you 're lucky, there will be an expert there to show you how to do it. I cannot recommend this place too much!"

"Absolutely disgraceful. We went in for a late breakfast as we usually love their food. We asked for poached eggs on toast that was stated explicitly on their menu we also asked for a big breakfast and mushrooms on toast. After ordering, a member of staff said they couldn 't do poached eggs but could do any other way. We challenged this because they had eggs so why could they not do poached? Whilst waiting for him to speak to the chef, we also ordered the breakfast and mushrooms on toast. We waited for half an hour, watching a table with more people that came in after us get all their food before ours came. When the staff member came back, he said they no longer do poached eggs as it 's an old menu they have not yet updated false advertising at it 's finest. After arguing about that for 5 minutes we then asked where the other food we ordered was, he replied saying he hadn 't yet ordered it even though we said we still wanted that. We told him we were outraged that we had been waiting so long and he responded with a bunch of rude and patronising comments telling us there 's no need to write a bad review, my friend before handing us the bill for the drinks without any discount or compensation for our troubles and saying well thank you for joining us . Awful service and awfully handled. Will not be returning. If we could give a minus review, we would."

"Booked a table on line, which was easy enough. Arrived at the Windmill, the lady logged in to find our booking, which took a little while as the app kept logging her out, and it had ‘the longest ever password’ to log in her words not mine. Took our seats, and ordered our drinks via the app. After about 10 mins, the same lady asked if we were ok, we said we were waiting for drinks, she went back to the bar and retrieved our order and brought our drinks to us. Next round of drinks which again were order via the app arrived promptly. Next we ordered our mains. Medium rare 10oz stake, and a lasagna. Food arrived. Lasagna was very good. Not overpowered with tomato or garlic, very tasty. Hubby’s medium rare stake was overcooked making it a bit dry and lacking taste, but he didn’t want to wait for another to be cooked. Not once did anyone check with us how the meal was. During the meal we ordered another round of drinks, and waited patiently. The lack of drinks made a dry steak even less palatable. We finished the meals (well left half the steak) yet still no drinks. After 25 minutes I went to the bar to cancel the drinks and ask for a refund. After tapping many buttons, hey presto the order was located. There was much confusion over how to do a refund, and at one stage it was suggested that we may have to have cash and the staff member sort it later, but eventually it got sorted as a refund to the card. STILL NO ENQUIRY AS TO HOW THE MEALS WERE!!!!!! As much as I enjoyed the lasagna, I don’t think we will visit again. One member of staff was spending more time having a chat with the locals than checking on things. There were a lot of food orders being collected for delivery, I felt that these were being prioritised above the seated diners. I wish I could say the pub was busy, but it really wasn’t so there was no excuse."
