"we visited the krone in egham, but do not have the opportunity to visit them. we discovered this pub that is in the same chain and served the same menu (almost). it is fast to our local pub. look at the brot and the butter pudding, this is the best of all time! the duck seems to never be available, however, and Sunday triple roast does not live entirely up to expectations, but overall we have visited several, only for the other excellent dishes and the service. dogs are also welcome."

What a huge disappointment! There weren't enough staff working on a Saturday night—what's up with that? The strong smell of something unpleasant in the lounge bar was really off-putting. View menu

we enjoyed the fish and chips, but lately, eating seems a bit hit and miss. the sunday roast was not as good as I had hoped and the cauliflower cheese was terrible. we had beautiful meal times there in the past. Maybe there's another cook now?

We enjoyed the fish and chips, but recently the food has been a bit inconsistent. The Sunday roast didn't meet my expectations, and the cauliflower cheese was quite disappointing. We've had some great meals there in the past, so perhaps there's a new chef in the kitchen?

I had to organize a family event on short notice, and Nicola and Darren were fantastic. The pub has a lovely atmosphere, and the buffet food was excellent. We are truly grateful to the staff for ensuring that this challenging event went smoothly and that everyone had a great time. Thank you! View menu

I had a meal at this restaurant on Tuesday and it was fantastic. The food was beautifully presented and served in generous portions, offering great value for money. The staff were very friendly, and I really enjoyed the cozy open fire on such chilly days. It's also dog-friendly, with complimentary dog treats available at the bar.

I went for some drinks on Thursday and found a charming traditional pub with a cozy atmosphere. Just a heads up, the ceilings are a bit low, so watch your head! The drinks were both good and affordable. The staff was friendly and efficient, which made the experience even better. I noticed there's a large beer garden that I'm sure is lovely when the weather is nice. I would definitely return!

"I visited my elderly Mum today, she suggested going to the Derby Arms for a roast dinner as she'd eaten there recently with my sister. However they were fully booked, so I looked online and found Galu. The reviews were great and my Mum has only ever heard good things from friends and neighbours. So I called and booked for 12:45 Sunday 21st Jan 2024. We were both pleasantly surprised to see roast dinners on the menu ... Mum order lamb and I ordered beef part of their set menu. When the dinners arrived, you could see straight away that the lamb was Very Fatty (not even crispy) when my my tried eating it, it was both tough and chewy! As for the beef, this was cooked ok and edible, although I asked for the beef to be medium, but it was more well done. The waiter came over to ask if the meal was ok, I highlighted how the lamb was... the manager then came over and offered my Mum a slice of beef to compensate, bearing in mind she ordered lamb. Mum subsequently found that some of her roast potatoes were hard inside! I finished my meal, but could see Mum really didn't enjoy hers leaving a substantial amount on her plate, and having tried her lamb it really was inedible! We were then offered a full list of desserts rather than the set menu, having chocolate brownie and creme brûlée (both were gorgeous) When the bill arrived, I was hoping they would have somehow made amends, but alas no ... as Mum doesn't like to cause a fuss and it was her treat, I decided not to say anything, although the staff manager could tell we weren't happy. Having come from East Sussex for the day and regularly have great Sunday roasts in local pubs, I was hoping for something special in this restaurant, but sadly that wasn't the case. In fact it's probably one of the worst roast dinners I've had in a long time. I very much doubt we'll return ..."
