"We had a takeaway a few weeks ago and it was amazing but tonight it was awful. The duck had undercooked skin in the curry, the curry was thin and oily. The pad Thai was odd, never tasted anything like it. Definitely won’t be ordering again, £75 wasted on food that we didn’t eat. Not sure if the chef has changed but we still definitely gone down hill"

"I would NOT recommend going to the Desco Lounge in Shirley unless you like to pay to be sworn at and be treated with aggression by the serving staff which is condoned by management. Terrible evening went to meet our friend who is back in the UK after moving to Spain. Employee/server, Jack pictured above, swore at my husband calling him a p k because he asked if he could sit at the sofa area as you come in. The incident was reported to the General Manager (GM) Rob, who agreed that the behaviour was unacceptable and inappropriate. Rob refused to provide surnames claiming it is not company policy. However, Jack came to our table following our discussion with Rob and was verbally was aggressive towards me and my husband following the initial report to the GM. When this additional incident was reported to Rob the GM he said he would talk to Jack after his shift indicating that he condones Jack’s behaviour and was happy to treat the remaining customers in this manner. This behaviour is appalling, inappropriate and unacceptable! Jack and Rob need to be made aware that paying customers pay their salary too. Jack needs to find a job that is not customer facing or undergo comprehensive training and Rob also needs to undergo people management training and customer service training. I have never been so insulted! We are Shirley residents have been patrons of the Desco Lounge since it opened. In all the years we have visited the Desco Lounge we have never been spoken to in this disgusting manner or been subject to aggressive and threatening behaviour by the staff. The standard of service has deteriorated drastically since the new team have been working in situ. As Rob, the GM, was totally ineffective at dealing with the situation and ensuring our safety, our party of 6 chose to leave the restaurant with our daughter leaving in tears. This incident will be reported to Rob’s manager, Vesele again no surname provided."

"I had a wonderful steak dinner on the Thursday special at 3ccc, which was priced at £35. The two cocktails were amazing, and the overall experience was great. The service was excellent, and the staff were very kind and helpful. I highly recommend this place, and I can't wait to return with family and friends!"

"I made a reservation as recommended during the current situation. When I arrived, I was seated at my table, but a group of six foreign men were put at a table without a reservation and had their orders taken before us. We waited 25 minutes before anyone paid us any attention. At that point, I was close to leaving... When our food finally arrived, the Bruschetta was underwhelming - the bread was not even toasted and the toppings were lackluster. Then, our main course arrived as a pizza instead of the Risotto we had ordered. It was a disappointing experience overall. The loud behavior of the foreign men made us feel uncomfortable, and when we paid our bill, we were informed that we were the only ones who had made a reservation and were treated poorly. It is important to improve your service during these difficult times, as establishments like yours contribute to the challenges facing the UK."

"The food at this restaurant is amazing, and the hospitality is welcoming! Some people may be put off by the average setup compared to contemporary standards, but don't let that deter you if you enjoy delicious food. Despite arriving late on a working day with my family, we received excellent service from the staff, including the owner's young son who helped us with our order and questions about allergens. The atmosphere left us with nothing but positive feelings towards the establishment. We were the last ones to leave but will definitely be returning soon with friends and family. I would give it 4.5 stars, but considering the value for money and atmosphere, it's a total winner!"

"I want to start by mentioning that this restaurant does not have a music license unless you order food. They informed me about this policy after I had already made a reservation. When I arrived, I was pressured to order at least two appetizers or leave. The staff enforced this rule in a very aggressive manner, making me feel extremely uncomfortable. The waitress spoke to me condescendingly and the manager bluntly stated, "You must purchase an appetizer or depart." Why would a restaurant resort to manipulating customers to order more food instead of obtaining a proper license? Are they new to the industry and cannot afford a license? The management did not take responsibility when I expressed my dissatisfaction. The individuals working here are completely unprofessional and should not be in the hospitality industry."

"I recently dined at this restaurant for dinner and had a great experience. The price per person for the meal was around £50-60, which I found reasonable considering the quality of the food and service. I would rate the food a 4 out of 5, as the Chapati and Chutney were particularly delicious. The service was excellent, with attentive staff and quick service, earning a 5 out of 5 rating. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, earning a 4 out of 5. Additionally, there were plenty of parking options available, including a free parking lot and free street parking. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."

"This is the last time I will use a Toby Carvery. I was tired and hot and should not have booked for 7.30 in the evening as by that time there were only a choice of gammon, pork turkey, the veg were past their best having been on the hotplate too long. Im sure the menu is reduced these days and not for the better. Service was initially quick but once I had finished no one was to be seen to clear my plate an take my money. I didnt stop for a pudding as these are just sweet sickly and not pleasant from previous experience. It was a meal but not a memorable one"

"Our experience at Heritage was disappointing. The food was underwhelming no more special than what I could have made at home and portions are small for the price, even considering it 's small plates . e.g. the pan fried seabass literally one fillet of seabass, no garnish or sauce or anything, with the skin not even crispy, for £9. Hot chicken wings just seemed to be caked in chilli paste, not much flavour, only heat. The taste of the beef burger reminded me of a cheap burger from a van but for a whopping £10, not including fries! Thank god we went during the 50% off all food in January offer, otherwise I would be feeling thoroughly ripped off. The service was poor. Tables around us took over an hour to be cleared after customers left, which made the ambience unpleasant. Staff did not check on us during our meal, or ask if we wanted sauces etc. Staff were more interested in chatting to their friends than providing good service. Cocktails were nice but that won 't be enough to bring us back to an establishment that really doesn 't put any care or love into their food."

"My wife and I spent several nights at this restaurant over the weekend. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and were incredibly attentive throughout our stay. The room was beautifully decorated, simple yet stylish, with a large comfortable bed and even a coffee maker so we could enjoy real coffee instead of the usual instant hotel coffee. Although I prefer showers, the free standing bath was so luxurious that I could have soaked in it for hours. The continental breakfast was the perfect start to our day, with cereal, coffee, and fresh croissants that were just the right amount to fuel us for a day of walking without feeling too heavy. The food at the restaurant was outstanding, so much so that we ended up eating there multiple times, even twice in one day. The Sunday roast with all the trimmings was incredible, and the burger I had in the evening was one of the best I've ever had. I highly recommend trying their food! Paired with some delicious ales, I never wanted to leave. Unfortunately, we had to but I am already looking forward to planning my next trip back."

However, the service was lacking and the food did not meet my expectations. It appeared that they were short-staffed as we struggled to get anyone's attention to place our order or ask for the bill. Our meals were overcooked, which may have been due to them sitting on a heated plate for too long. Although the food wasn't terrible enough to complain and ask for a replacement, the overall experience has made me reconsider whether I will come back or look for another dining option."

"we turned up for an early evening meal when there was a child party and singer. at the time of booking we no longer knew about the event. it was very loud, what as a family meant that we couldn't sit and talk. the music began after we had ordered. the personal was friendly and tried to help us, but unfortunately it did not make any difference. nam. "visited here a few days ago for my 24th birthday meal. our waitress was very friendly and helped us with some cocktail recommendations that we ordered immediately. we have the pot stickers and garnel for beginners and I got the chicken Fajitas for dinner, the amazing highly recommend! after dinner the staff came by very friendly everyone and gave me a nice part of kuchen witt kerzen and they all sung me 'happy birthday,' which felt very special! had a nice evening overall."

"We went here twice. On the first visit we ordered mixed noodles, chops with mash and ribs with fries and chicken steak in mushroom sauce with fries. The service was good and he was happy to help. When the food came it was fresh and very tasty full of flavour. Ribs portion was very big and worth the money. However when we went back the second time ribs tasted weird, noodles lacked so much flavour and was greasy. Was very disappointed. Haven't been back since as it seems like a hit and miss. Places like this should provide same quality of food all the time. There shouldn't be any excuses."

"We were able to secure a table for two by the window on short notice at Salieri's. It was a pleasant and relaxed lunch experience. The restaurant has a charming decor and a fantastic location, right across from the Savoy. Sitting by the window provides a great opportunity for people-watching. The service was a bit slow and our waiter seemed flustered at times. I was also told that the olives were pitted when they were not. The menu is simple and the food is straightforward, which I appreciated. Additionally, the prices are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Salieri's to anyone in the area."
