"We recently dined at Viva L'Italia and had a pleasant experience with both the food and service. However, we were informed that the restaurant had been renovated and our booking for the Italian steakhouse was transferred to their other location in Windsor. The food was average, and my carbonara order without cream was served with cream. The homemade tiramisu resembled more of a cake, was drowned in chocolate sauce, and lacked flavor. The staff were friendly, but overall, I left feeling disappointed. We were given a 50% discount for the incorrect carbonara, but it would have been better to receive the correct dish. While I had hoped to enjoy Viva L'Italia, I am unsure if I will return in the future."

"Is this part of the Al Forno chain or is it a franchise? If so it does not compare to the other Al Forno restaurants. Food was ok but presentation was poor. It was empty and the tables were dirty. Considering it was not busy service is minimal, the button to call works but this takes away from the experience there is no quality check and no up-selling took place. For that reason value for money is poor although not really expensive. A few people allowed of the street to sit and smoke not sure if anything was ordered this gives it a low end feel. Not as portrayed on your website."

"Our 20 yr old student son was visiting Ipswich as part of an upcoming placement. He had to stay in a hotel for two nights on his own and eat out for dinner as nothing available in the hotel. He went to ASK at around 6.30pm and asked for a table … he was told they ‘already had too many’ despite all the empty tables and him being on his own. Very offhand and rude and made him feel very uncomfortable. On phoning afterwards we were told they were short staffed and having a difficult day. Nice of them to take it out on a young man on his own. Shameful behaviour! The reality is he was one person, it was early doors, and all he wanted was a warm meal after a long day. He wouldn’t have been taking a table up all night and making demands on the staff. If you happen to find yourself in a similar situation save yourself the trouble and just go to Prezzo. Or just go to Prezzo in any event."

"Absolutely delicious food, good service and nice atmosphere. I had a Mushroom Risotto and it was soo tasty. I was surprised how fast the food came, usually there’s always a long wait for the delicious dishes. We sat in the garden and the atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxing. The service was also great, the waitress was very professional, friendly and kept running in and out to please me and the other customer’s requirements. Overall a nice lunch in ASK Italian Canterbury. Definitely recommend it to all Italian food lovers and not only."

"the Ribelli Sunday brunch is really excellent! we enjoyed the version with free flow prosecco. at 44 € we can only recommend the brunch completely (without prosecco 34 €). the pizzas are excellent. both the small breakfast spizza, as well as the normal (big) pizzen tasted us excellent. also the breakfast buffet does not read a wish open. all we have tasted has excellent taste (lax, salami, crimp, diw cheese (especially delicious: gorgonzola), salami, washbasin, ice cream, speck, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, seasoned, baked). I would also like to highlight the service positiw: the service was extremely friendly, helpful and consistently very flashy! we didn't miss anything. the prosecco was actually free flow . we felt very welcome and very well maintained for all time. we really liked the brunch. we'll come back! a warmer thanks to the entire Ribelli team!"

"at the arrival in ask on December 30, the personal had no recording about my online booking, although I was required with a phone call before the day to confirm a high chair. my friends and I found the personal unsympathetic to our preferences and made us feel as if the fault was our fault instead of opentable or ask. Even an apology at the time would have softened our disappointment, but instead the personal seemed rude and unfriendly. there was no place to sit down for lunch, although I had made a booking so we were forced to go in the hope that we could find somewhere to eat. prezzo in marlborough managed to find us a table and we were really impressed by the friendly and accommodating staff. a sharp contrast to our experience with the personal at ask. we had traveled some distances to meet in marlborough for a birthday dinner and unfortunately we left ask frustrated at the lack of friendly reception in the restaurant. due to this unacceptable experience I will not use open table again for bookings and we will not return to ask in marlborough."

"we have booked here as I have been and enjoyed in ask italians at other places. Scarborough was just too busy, the personal looked scattered and ran around like headless chicken! I expected a formal culinary experience, but it felt more like a greasy spoon. the food was good and the pizza was delicious. if they want a fast food-style experience, they come when they expect a restaurant where they dress up, then this is not the place to go!"

"Firstly I would like to say that this restaurant has just been refurbished, and it didn’t feel like an Italian restaurant, more like a cafe at the beach somewhere! It felt very sparse and most Italian restaurants I e been to have proper tablecloths on the table but these were plastic and I noticed one table it was tapped up underneath, in my opinion it needs to be made more warmly and have more of a family feel. The food was really nice, although I would advise anyone to make sure they double check their order as I chose chicken in a sauce really nice which came with vegetables but I also asked for a separate portion of potatoes, when it arrived I just had chicken with a few cut up potatoes and a very very small garnish of salad ! I mentioned this to the waitress who had taken our order and she said I know but the chef had given you extra salad !! Sorry but salad is not vegetables , it clearly said on the menu it came with vegetables. Having said about the above issue, the meals we all had were nice and the staff gave us a very warm welcome and because of the blip they said we could have a free pudding…..not sure if we all did or it was just mine but I never see the bill as we were treated to this. To finish the evening off we were given a lovely limoncello shot. We would definitely go back. Thankyou for a lovely evening in your restaurant"

"Friendly welcome. Swiftly seated. Really enjoyed prawn starter cooked to perfection. Nice pizza for main. Kindly put slices left in a box to bring home. Like that you can get a 500ml carafe of wine. Away offers on which make it good value for money but full price is over priced I'd say. There was a group in who were quite loud, as the restaurant is open plan there was no noise absorption. Not the makings of a quiet dinner for two. Otherwise couldn't fault."

"Came for Father’s Day. Average food at best. We wern’t made aware of items not on menu until we came to order and had to rethink on the spot. Unhappy sister and mother. When we came to pay we had some vouchers to use which we were told we couldn’t because they weren’t accepting them on Father’s Day. Were we made aware before the meal? NOPE. Good job we had money because other people may not have. Disgraceful really considering our vouchers we redeemed for today might run out before we get back there. Money grabbers. No tip from us. Not going again"

"they ask italian is a chain of restaurants that stand for bankable good meal. it is not my Italian place, but it has never proved to be disappointment. the ambiente connects perfectly with the service and the food, the calm and the collective. the menu itself is decent, starting with bruschetta, calamari, garlic garnel and mushrooms. with sufficient grades to choose from..The main course included an extensive range of pastas that are suitable both for vegetarian and for carnivores. Question is a restaurant that can be placed for the first 5 tips of the head' Italian restaurant not only with the family, but also for casual dinning with friends."

"I booked, I waited, I left without my main course or else we would have missed the curtain at the theatre. Lack of concern from the waitress yes, it's on its way.. but when??? We had to approach the manager, who was trying to get the food out from the kitchen; would we still like it ?? With minutes to eat?? Erm, no!!! In fairness, he did ask us to come back for a free meal after the theatre by way of apology, but having gone in hours before the theatre to give us plenty of time and avoid this situation, I was most upset especially as I had visiting family. Sad to say I will not return in a hurry I have had better luck at the sister restaurant down the road and on this particular evening the competition opposite got my custom after the theatre and it was lovely."

"Just what I was looking for! After several days of traveling and lots of pub food, I wanted some savory Italian cuisine for comfort. The menu was unassuming with lots of traditional options. The pizza was fantastic with really amazing crust. My colleague enjoyed his spaghetti and meatballs. The wine selection was nice for an inexpensive and home style meal. We were well cared for and offered an lemoncello after our meal. The server called us a cab so we didn't have to walk around in pouring rain. I'd definitely eat here on my next trip to the Windsor or Maidenhead area. It was nice to have a change from a super tourist dinner or a traditional pub dinner."

"3 of us came at approx 8pm on a friday night, and the restaurant was pretty quiet. The first thing we noticed was how cold it was, the air con was turned up to max which is a bit excessive on a coolish evening. Drinks like most restaurants are fairly pricey, we thought £4.10 for a glass of wine was a bit ridiculous so all had soft drinks instead. The risotto verde was tasty enough but was a small portion for the price. The seafood linguini was basically tomato sauce on pasta with a few shrunken shell fish on top, (in the shells . Not great value for money really but tasted ok. Cant comment on the shell fish as there wasnt enough of it to comment on, all shell and no fish ; The pizza my friend ordered was slightly overcooked so a bit dry, we all wanted to eat together so she didnt ask for a new one as it would have meant her eating after us. We were brought drinks then left 20 minutes before being asked our food order, we tried to get the attention of the service staff a few times but no one noticed. Same happened when waiting to ask for the bill.. no one to ask for it. The staff seemed friendlhy enough but most definitely not Italian haha (which of course isnt a must to work there but it seems that these type of restaurants make the effort to hire italian staff in city centre branches like liverpool, manchester and london but less so in other places. We didnt particualrily enjoy our visit there, it wasnt relaxing or feel warm and inviting. Quite basic interior and tables. We probably wont go again unfortunately."

"After a long day, we decided to satisfy our Italian craving by heading to the Ask Italian nearby. We ordered the Siciliana pizza and the Ravioli Maritimmi with Rasberry Lemonade as drinks. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Fondant Cake with Vanilla Gelato and Chocolate Sphere (the name of the dish escapes my memory). The two main dishes were amazing! The crust of pizza was thin but could hold well. The creme fraiche on the pizza added a light and refreshing touch as well as some moisture and the vegetables were all flavorful. They gave us some chilli oil with the pizza and that added a nice dimension of flavor to it! The ravioli was also delicious! The filling was adequate and smooth. However the king prawn on the top, I felt, was unnecessary. It was in it whole shell so it was an unasked for hassle. The lemonade was refreshing too. The dessert is best for chocolate lovers. The cake is a dense soufflé type cake and the chocolate sphere is a deep dark chocolate. The gelato adds a refreshing touch to break through all that chocolate and it all sits in a sea of fresh cream. A perfect end to the meal. Overall, ask Italian is a great place for a nice Italian meal, anytime of the day."

"it took 90 minutes to get 2 courses the first cure was really terrible and the chips were on places black . also it was warm, not hot, obviously after having been left to boil. We mentioned that to the waitress and she said she was going to tell the kitchen. the main course lasted 35 minutes to come after and it was very bad. the waitress said that she would make a change request to the bill, and when we asked her, she said that we don't have to pay because she appreciates how terrible it was and how disappointed we were."
"The restaurant is located on the shore beneath several other restaurants. The service was friendly and efficient. We both enjoyed the salmon salad and a glass of house red wine. The only issue we encountered was that despite making a reservation on Opentable several days in advance, the restaurant had no record of our booking. However, we called a few hours before arriving to confirm."
"As soon as I walked in, we were served two shot glasses of lemonade. The staff were very friendly and we were served by 3 people throughout our visit. I ordered the carbonara and it was served extremely quickly to the optimal temperature. My friend order the sausage pasta and the pasta came al dente its like marmite; either you love it or you hate it. Personally I like it but my friend doesn't so perhaps going forward, they could ask customers how they would like their pasta. Other than that, everything was incredible. In the mens toilet was 1 cubical with tissue stocked and toilet clean. Two urinals, three sinks all working with comfotably warm water, two soap dispensers fully stocked and two hand driers. Everything was lovely. I would highly recommend this place to people. I had the warm brownie and cherries clotted ice cream for pud. Option to order by QR code or by staff. I am very impressed as the restaurant met all my expectations. Highly recommend."

"Although the food at this restaurant was good, the service was extremely slow and disorganized. The starters arrived at different times, with one dish missing a part. We waited a long time for our mains and even after finishing our meal, it took 20-30 minutes for the dessert menu to be brought to us. When we finally asked for the bill and for our leftovers to be packed up, there was a delay in providing boxes. The staff only asked about payment method after we had already put on our coats and stood up. Despite a good vegan menu, the lack of cleanliness in the toilets and the overall lack of customer service led us to determine that we will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to others. It seemed that the staff were not motivated and the empty restaurant may have been explained by our own negative experience."

"Prezzo (price) is a good name for this place. Sorry to say but nothing to do with Italian cuisine but prices from different planet. Crab and lobster ravioli unfrozen and bland. Gnocchi with grilled? sea bass and peas?? I got confused if this is English pub or Italian restaurant. No herbs, no taste, so specific for Italian cuisine, was really hungry and haven't finished this. Gnocchi drowned in fat, colour grey. Gross, lack of colours (tomato, peppers, carrots etc. missing), prices shocking high, quality of food shocking low, portions small comparing to other Italian restaurants. I've asked if there's Italian chief and got an answer that is racist to have Italian chief in Italian restaurant????? Absolutely ridiculous. Nice service, disgusting food, never again. For 2 juices (150ml each), one espresso, antipasti (3 small slices of garlic bread no garlic taste or smell, 2 slices of second hand ham and something pretending prosciutto £8.95, to be honest dried tomatoes delicious, olives acceptable), portion of gnocchi with sea bass and peas?? over £19, maybe 10 unfrozen ravioli with no taste over £17, bill over £50 paid and I went to McDonald's to eat something. Avoid and find something with Italian chief to taste Italian cuisine."
