"after the arrival at the time we were shown to a table. we then joined a queen of about 20 other people waiting to get thier food. after about 15 minutes visited a person d and went on to cuddle out, he meat. when I came to the sweetheart inventively, there weren't kartoffels, spit, runner beans. they finally came. then all sauces were empty. again they had to ask that they be fulfilled. When I came to our table, my food was cold. all for £43.00 for 3 persons, with the floor in front of the food counter was covered with food as it was not cleaned. the general condition of the spatialities was untidy and dirty. we will not return."

"The food was decent, especially the meat. Our server was delightful and attentive. However, there were a lot of flies buzzing around, it was uncomfortably hot in the dining area, and the drinks took a long time to arrive, which were the three things that detracted from the overall experience."

"The Toby concept of Carvery dining is excellent and the Food provided was of Good value and choice. For Customers unfamiliar with the Concept there needs to be Clearer description within the Menu and more so Clear descriptions of Options for those Customers who do not want a Full Carvery dining experience. The Online Booking process was very Good and followed through with Confirmation and Reminders up to the Actual Booking date. On the Evening of the Booking the Toby clearly advise all Customers to Wait to be seated although there was no one in attendance. When confirming the Reservation the Table was not Ready and the Manager had to clean and set up the Table. At the Table the Drinks order were taken and some questions asked of the Manager who said a Server would follow up with our Order. The Server took the Order and we received both Drinks and the Order however after that we were left. The Toby was not overly busy but staff seemed to be busy and no real commitment to Customers seated. The Carvery is mostly self service and we probably bucked the trend by having Sandwiches however Customers should still receive attention. We all loved the food but found it quite soleless in its atmosphere. The Group of 5 Females meet on a Regular basis and were looking for a close to the Motorway meeting place for our meet ups however for us the Toby did not get our full Thumbs up."

"During my recent visit, I found the food to be dry and lukewarm. I frequent this restaurant often, but it seems that the Sunday carvery has become inconsistent. I had requested to sit closer to the food area when I made my reservation, but ended up sitting far away, which was quite disappointing. The only bright spot of this visit was our waitress, who was very helpful. Given this experience, I don’t think I would return anytime soon."

"The restaurant was quite busy, but we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. One member of our group ordered the beef and pork, which turned out to be quite fatty, as they seemed to serve the ends of the joint. This was disappointing, as there wasn’t much meat on those pieces. I was really looking forward to the meal, but was let down by that. We also felt that the meat portions were smaller than we had previously experienced. However, others at the table enjoyed the turkey and gammon. The turnip lacked flavor, and the cauliflower cheese was a bit dry. On the positive side, the roast potatoes and parsnips were very good."

"First time we have visited in last 2 years. Food was good but the beef was very fatty and at very end of the original joint. The chefs looked very scruffy and needed clean clothes they were never in whites. Whole building is in a very very poor state and needs a complete redecoration. I was even guided on my journey back to north notts when the massive departure came that did not owe the management or the employees. the debt is completely at mb! the outside of the immobilie is disgusting! if I had checked before the entry, I could have come back to my van, which I am sure that many people have to do this! where is the midlands proudly gone or is he lost to the Americans? "We had made a reservation for a table for two by a window. Upon our arrival at the restaurant, we checked in and were promptly shown to our table, even though we had arrived a little early and wanted to grab a drink first. Unfortunately, we were taken to a table in the middle of the restaurant instead of the window seat we had requested. When I mentioned this to the woman who had escorted us, she was quite rude and insisted that this was the only available table before walking away. Given that my husband had recently been unwell and needed a place where he could easily step outside to cool off, we were disappointed with the seating arrangement."

"My 91 year old mother has been a regular customer to this carvery for several years. She particularly likes this restaurant as she visits with family, which is a real treat for her and can choose manageable portions to suit her poor appetite. As she eats less than a child’s portion, I have often asked staff if she can have a child’s portion this request is always denied by staff. It sickens me to see other customers, both adults their children piling their plates high with obscenely amounts of food, then return for even more! I find it grossly unfair that she is always charged full price, despite the fact it’s clear to see she is elderly frail. As far as I’m concerned, she’s paying to support the cost of someone else’s gluttony."

"Hello, I do not think I would come back to this restaurant. We all had the carvery, which was bland. The chef serving the meat was very stingy compared to where we usually go, Silkwood Farm. I received fatty roast beef that I wouldn't even give to my dog. The turkey was nice, but the slices were very small. There was no line, yet it took over ten minutes for the meat to be brought out, it was so slow. The vegetable selection was the worst I have ever seen. The roast potatoes were dried up and rock hard, my mom couldn't even eat hers because they were too tough. The lady who served us was very nice. I think it's outrageous to charge £4 more just because it's a bank holiday, especially when everyone is facing a cost of living crisis. A price increase may be understandable, but this is ridiculous and exploitative. The quality of the food was not worth the price, unfortunately. I would not recommend this place to anyone, sorry."

"We thought we would go for a bite to eat. We didn't want the carvery so we asked if we could have a sandwich? We waited for at least 3/4hr for the sandwiches!! I wish i took a picture? They were just 2 slces of bread with salad on the side. I had cheese with onion marmalade. My husband had chicken with ham?? We paid £18.80p for this crap. The bread was thin sliced normal bread, i had brown he had white. The salad was some lettuce, a bit of tomato and cucumber. We won't be back that's for sure. We have never had such horrible food in a very long time. The staff were lovely just the food was awful."

"I booked a table for my family and as a family with neurodiversity as usual I requested a quiet corner or booth ... on arrival it was hot there was a note on the door saying the air con was off and there would be fans on in the resteraunt. I was informed there was no quiet space ...the resteraunt wasn't overly busy several booths were free but the hostess decided that she would seat us center table in the resteraunt ...the absolute worst place to put a child with neurodiversity ... in the center of the noise When I challenged this she told me that she was short staffed and the table we had reserved the previous reservation had ran over as they arrived late When I pointed out the booths she became quite rude shouting quite loud again that they were short staffed and that she couldn't move us Which then drew attention to us which is what we didn't want I guess that was her way of punishing us We went for the meal ... I have to go up and get the kids first as they won't speak for themselves and then went up for mine The gammon was about to run out so the server saved 2 little scraps for my 3 year old that she took back off the emder child's plate ...and charged me for 2 proper portions There was no sausages for the king-size meal ... we will bring them over I was told they are just cooking ... OK they never arrived and were still not ready when we left They had no meat ... apart from beef which was all fat ... or turkey It was all still cooking ... They had no veg ... cauliflower cheese and carrots were all out and the peas and green beans were dryer than a flip flop in the Sahara... inedible...no mac and cheese tbf that doesn't belong on a roast dinner There was onion in gravy they were raw None of the meals were discounted ... we wernt offered an apology but expected to pay full price for half the food being missing and there inability to time manage No one came to ask if our food was OK like they usually do so they can see which meals u picked .. cos they knew we would complain Also there were only fans in the entrance and bar area where the staff stand I was abolutley shocked that they presented me with a bill for 75 quid .... I left there hungry it's a disgrace I appreciate that they were short staffed and I do sympathise but don't take booking and stop walkins. Using that as an excuse is just poor I'd like to also point out the other tables we were refused actually remained empty throughout our visit Wasn't worth 75 quid and I will be looking for a refund of some of not all of that"

"Visited the TC in Brighton Rd, South Croydon ...the first visit was back on 3rd December and it was lovely..hot food, decent portions and the vegetable top ups with relishes, excellent. super waitress service..We left a tip!! However, the 2nd visit, yesterday 17th December was a disappointment..The food, not so good, small carved meat, the chef seemed really mean about meat portion sizes and quite happy to carve meat that was about 10x10cm radius left on the board!! We had to ask for more meat and so this experience was very different to the previous visit.. This chef wasn't very cheerful and I felt his manner was abrupt!! The potatoes were cooked well but warm to cold, fresh cooked veg was served hot and on point but to be honest, I'm not sure to visit again simply because the carved meat portions were too meagre. Also, why aren't TC allowed to give customers the wing of the bird if they want to eat it? Surely, adults are of an age to be trusted to eat food with bones??? Maybe include a proviso or have customer sign a disclaimer??? The waitress service was okay not as on point as the previous occasion but a pleasant lady.. TC needs to ensure its food is piping hot, and when needing to be replenished, at sufficient intervals to ensure no long queues and waiting time and then a chef who isn't mean with carved meat portions (especially when dinerss aren't allowed to go back for more!! and in the later part of the afternoon/evening service."
