"Honestly worst full breakfast I’ve ever had, tinned tomato and the juice went all over the beans drowned the bacon and egg I only ate the sausage. The older staff where lovely the younger staff maybe 13-16 where very rude and when we asked a question just gave us a blank stare and honestly looked as though they couldn’t be bothered with anything.the younger staff definitely bring the cafe down a lot. Older man was lovey though"

"I love all the manger prets. but this in particular with its side tables and the skylight inside is perhaps one of the best in which I was. I love pret also for their philosophy, and almost autoironia, as they say on their bottles. This is a fruit juice. it will not make you run faster, jump higher or think faster. it has no chemical additives and it is what it is. a refreshing drink . and so also all their selection of fresh veg and not, more or less goose salads, have one with avocado and lobster which is delicious. they also have a table where they serve dishes kept in hot, both sandwiches and first dishes (you consider that means first dish in Anglo-Saxon cuisine. ) a true life of salvation in the sea of fish and chips and English pudding."

"Passing through town at 2pm, we wanted to buy food to take away and eat later. Thinking we would get something nice, and possibly homemade, we stopped at this cafe because it had a bakery counter. As soon as we entered, the woman at the counter said, in an unfriendly manner, and without any other greeting, “we’re only serving take away drinks and what’s on display in the cabinet”. There were no prices on the products. The woman told me the price of the Welsh Cakes, which I deemed to be rather high. None of the other products looked as though they’d been made with any flair, creativity or pride. I now wish I’d left without buying anything, because my mistake was to then ask for a small chicken and mushroom pie, for which the woman charged £5. That too was expensive for what the pie looked like. However, it was only an hour later that we realised the extent of the awfulness of our pie purchase: the pie was 8cm in diameter, with a thin pastry case and top. Whilst not having the appearance of a yummy homemade pie, from the outside there was nothing to indicate the true horror of what was under the industrially manufactured crust. Biting into the pie revealed a largely hollow interior. It might have been a better pie if the interior had been entirely devoid of any filling. Why? Well this ‘filling’ comprised of no more than two dessert spoons of pale mush. We didn’t detect anything resembling chicken in that mush, nor mushroom. The most pleasant components were flecks of ice, which were a distraction from the insipid gloop that the manufacturer might have called gravy. When handing the pie to my partner, it tilted slightly, upon which water slopped out of the pie we estimate the amount of water to be two or three dessert spoons. There’s no doubt that we’d inadvertently bought a pie that was at the extraordinarily cheap and nasty end of the spectrum of factory manufactured pies. However, this woeful and deplorable tearoom had gone one better, and made the UK’s most unappealing pie even worse. I considered writing this cautionary review three days ago, in case I was poisoned by the pie (and didn’t live to tell the tale)."

"This restaurant used to be very good, but it has recently declined in quality. The menu has remained the same for years and the cakes are not as good as they used to be. The outdoor area is in need of a thorough cleaning, as it looks like it hasn't been swept in a long time. My disappointment reached its peak when I took my sister-in-law for coffee while shopping for plants for her garden. They had no gluten-free cake options available, despite the fact that I need to avoid gluten for medical reasons. When I asked why, I was informed by a staff member that they don't offer gluten-free cake because it supposedly tastes bad and no one buys it. The staff member then proceeded to tell me that my intolerance to gluten is actually due to a lack of fiber in my diet, which is not true. She was incredibly rude and disrespectful to me as a customer, blaming me for my dietary restrictions. I would recommend avoiding this place if you have a gluten intolerance and instead go to Hadfields in North Walsham, where they have a great selection and a better attitude towards customers."

"Went in for a latte with my mother and the queue stretched throughout the length of the cafe. There seemed to be insufficient staff for the volume of customers. It took 10 minutes to place my order at the bar and was told the latte would be brought outside when made. I'd already decided to opt for a cold coke and said I would take it from the fridge there and then and drink from the tin. It took a further 15 minutes for the latte to arrive. The menu was quite good, offering a wide variety of meals but I think they are being over ambitious to try and manage the customer/menu ratio on current cafe staffing levels"

"After frequently visiting York, I had been wanting to dine at Oscars. We arrived for lunch and made a reservation for dinner tonight. Since there was a large booking at 7pm, we were asked if we could come in at 6:30pm, which was not a problem for us. At 6:30pm, we were seated at our reserved table and our drinks order was taken. Shortly after, our food order was also taken. However, after waiting for 50 minutes, our food had still not arrived and nobody seemed to acknowledge us. Eventually, we managed to get the attention of a lovely young waitress who apologized and said our food would be ready in 5 minutes. We were then asked to move tables due to a large booking. After waiting for one and a half hours in total, I went to the bar to let the staff know we were leaving and to settle the bill. The drinks bill was waived and we received an apology. I'm not sure what went wrong tonight, but the service was absolutely appalling. The least the staff could have done was to inform us of the delay. I will not be returning."

"This is the first time I had been into this iconic building in Barnstaple since I moved to the area over 39 years ago. My wife and I decided to have lunch here. We both chose the Fish Chowder with a warm bread roll. The chowder was made up with Cod, Haddock and Salmon and was absolutely full of fish. We each had a glass of wine to accompany the dish. Service is excellent, prices reasonable and the building itself full of old photographs of Barnstaple in olden days. Well recommended."

"Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Sunday Lunch Recommendation for vegetarians: Highly recommend Vegetarian offerings: Large vegetarian selection My experience at this restaurant was top-notch! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect. I highly recommend trying their Sunday Lunch, it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. For vegetarians, this place is a must-visit as they have a large selection of vegetarian options to choose from. I will definitely be coming back here again."

"I hadn’t been to The Olive Stone until recently moving locally. We’ve tried their paninis which are delicious and a good amount of filling, not meagre like chain cafes. I recommend the bacon and Brie! We also tried their pizzas as a takeaway on Friday evening and they were absolutely delicious. The pizza base itself is lovely and light and the fillings were high quality and generous. It’s becoming our go to Italian cafe."

"What a lovely little gem this is in Gairloch. Visited on Wednesday 21st Feb 24 with my two young boys (4 and 6) with husband in tow. Youngest was desperate for a beach day and upon arriving in Gairloch the heavens opened so decided to have lunch first in the hope it passed. The two ladies serving were so incredibly accommodating to my two boys and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and well worth the money. Will be visiting again and 100% recommend."

"We visited Bakewell on a shopping trip. The weather was 2 dgrees C and raining and we needed a little respite from it. Found the Bakewell Tart Shop and was welcomed and quickly seated. Menus and drinking water supplied whilst waiting for our choice af toasted tea bread and fresh scone with butter, plus 2 lattes. The service was quick, attentive and friendly. Excellent buns and coffee. A convenience was available and we used it. All very good. We bought an extra tea bread at the front of house shop on our way out. Very reasonable prices and excellent staff."

"visited the brae cafe for the first time today with my family who are regular. I was very impressed. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the place has a nice cozy atmosphere. eating was very tasty and the portion size was incredible. my daughter (8yr) ordered a ham and cheese panini from the children's menu and it was more than enough. I ordered chicken fillets and it was more than I could eat. the size of the portion is large and the price they pay for it is very reasonable. I was filled with definitiw when we were gone. we took so cake to have later from their delicious selection of homemade cakes and tablet bakers. would recommend this cafe in any case. I'm looking forward to my next visit."

"The food itself was nice, but nothing special. The chips however were really tasty! We were really disappointed when we heard another customer ask for dairy milk in their coffee which the staff said yes to, so it's not strictly a vegan establishment if they have and serve dairy on the premises... We always choose to go to fully vegan places over non vegan ones, they're obviously doing a lot more than other places, which is great, but this is a big shame. The lady who served us was borderline moody and seemed like we were a bit of a nuisance than anything, definitely some improvement needed here."

"Went in with 2 friends today and ordered drinks and desserts. An elderly chap with glasses served us and genuinely looked like he wanted to start a fight, walk away while while we were still trying to speak to him, looked absolutely disgusted anytime we tried to speak and couldn’t have been more dismissive. I’ll never be back in because of this, I would have said something when we left but he looked like he finished his shift. An absolute farce, people are entitled to have a bad day, but he was a bad person. Avoid.....avoid.....avoid."

"This charming little pub is dog-friendly and full of character. The food service can be slow and the quality varies, but the sea bass is excellent although small. The salads are not recommended, as they are quite basic for the price. The sandwiches are delicious and a good size, while the lasagne is yummy. The baked potatoes are okay, but the scampi was burnt. The French fries are super tasty. Overall, it is a great place to relax with friendly staff and good indoor and outdoor seating options. The prices for drinks are fair and there is a good variety of bar snacks available. It is worth a visit, just be prepared for a potentially long wait for food."

"We went to the Vincenzos in Market Gate, which I believe is owned by the same people who run the Vincenzos coffee house is st. Nics arcade. The service was appalling. We had been sat for barely 1 minute when they asked if we were ready to order food, and when we said no they then didn't come back for a good 15 minutes. The server made a mistake entering my partners order, leading to them getting the wrong food. We also had to ask for cutlery after food had been served. I ordered the large breakfast and was severely disappointed. Luke warm baked beans covered the entire plate, making the rest of the food a bit slimy and I felt it made things go cold quicker. The bacon was burny black in places and was inedible, the sausages were bland and not well cooked, the eggs and black pudding were cold and not pleasant. The only parts of the breakfast worth eating were the hash browns, which I believe come pre made and are warmed up, and the toast. For £12 would expect far better quality and for the food to be hot and well cooked. Overall experience 2.5, would not be eager to eat here again."

"What can I say my family and I had the rustic bread with a filling which comes with Coleslaw and tortilla chips which I must say was not cheap for a mere sandwich we put our order in only to be told when they placed it in front of us they had run out of coleslaw but instead gave us some salad first of all they must have known they had no Coleslaw when they took our order and you do not presume we want salad the bread was dry and stale the chutney was like a running liquid which tasted full of sugar. The tortilla chips were stale too had no flavour at all they must have been the cheapest of cheap chips. We were the last people in there before the placed closed and I guess we just got the leftovers o and another thing salad consists of lettuce tomatoes cucumber onion and peppers especially the price we paid all we had was a little bit of lettuce and a slice of tomotoe no onion or cucumber call that a salad I had to go ask for some onion which was dried up. The waitress who served us was I thought rude and we were an inconvenience because we arrived not long before closing time will never go to that place again my sister complained and we should have got a reduction in our bill but that did not happen total rubbish how easy is it to make a nice sandwich with FRESH ingredients."

"On Saturday my wife and I went to the Chiefs game and had a meal at the Blue Ball before. From start to finish we were met with friendly, helpful staff, from a warm greeting in the car park to cheery, helpful bar staff to attentive waiting staff everyone clearly very efficient and seemingly very happy in their work all making for a most enjoyable customer experience. And then there is the food....! How they produce such delicious, well presented food for so many so quickly is amazing! Thanks again to all the staff for Saturday it was great!"
