"A warm welcome from a young Polish man, who we took to be the Manager (if he isn't, he should be...! . Boisdale of Bishopsgate is tucked away down an alleyway. The bar, on ground floor level, I found to be a little claustrophobic and quite small (not sure how I would get on in the restaurant, which is underground . We were on a very cheaply priced set lunch menu, which included a glass of prosecco and coffee. Everything was OK, not exceptional, but OK, except for my husband's fish... well, the actual fish itself was perfectly acceptable, but the batter was something else! It was soft, damp and rubbery and my husband picked it up with two fingers from the top and the fish just fell through the bottom of the batter. Yuck! The Manager sympathised and treated my husband to another glass of prosecco (thank you but, to be honest, we would not return."

"By far and quite simply one of the best meals I have had in a long time. My family were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in. The waiter was first class in taking our orders and his interaction with our young son. The food quite simply was brilliant, each member of my family said there meal was stunning. The deserts as well were top draw, especially the Vanilla Cheesecake with the Amaretto base was one of the best deserts I have had in a very long time. As we have just moved to the area we shall not only go back for another meal, but also make use of the pub next door as they had a fine selection of Italian beers Adnams ales. Thank you so much. "I had booked a table here for me, my mam and my pregnant sister after reading the menu online and the reviews, which seemed generally positive. When we arrived we were seated and ordered a bottle of sparking water. We were giving the lunch time menu even though it was half five. They don 't start the evening menu until 7pm. I had not viewed the lunch time menu online and I can 't recall there actually being an option to view the lunch time menu? I may be wrong on this account but I can 't remember seeing it. Unfortunately nearly every item on the lunch time menus contained cheese which my sister is currently unable to eat. My sister asked if she could see the night time menu instead and the waitress answered 'no, it 's lunch menu until 7 ' immediately without checking with anyone. My mam then asked what was in the special pasta and the description we got was 'pasta with zucchini in it ' and we had to seek further clarification about what sauce it was in, if any other meat or fish or vegetables were in it etc etc. Not really the best description! We decided to pay for our water and leave as there was nothing suitable on the menu for my sister and no soft drinks besides the normal high sugar fizzy drinks and water were available. I would have liked to think a Winery may have got one or two non alcoholic wines in but alas, no! The waitress brought our bill and at this point the manager came over nd said that he had spoken with the chef and we could choose from the evening menu. Unfortunately this was too little, too late as we had already agreed to leave. If the waitress had said she would ask or check with the chef initially, then we would have probably stayed but as we were just immediately told no, we saw no point in staying. I can not comment on the quality of the food but I think the service definitely left something to be desired and the very limited lunch menu should have a few more dishes added without cheese and it should be made clear that evening service does not begin until after 7pm."

"Always been my favourite restaurant. Very generous portions and varied menu. Excellent service and friendly staff. Went there yesterday and it is still as wonderful as ever. The restaurants in South End are really up against it with the curfew but we still need to support our local eateries. We got round the bubble issue by sitting at different tables."

"I ordered seafood paella. When my main course arrived I thought my goodness the portion is so small. But once into it it was just enough to fill me probably wouldn’t have been enough for a male though. There were 4 prawns with very little other bits of fish thankfully there was enough rice to fill me up."

"We recently moved to the area and saw the great reviews on travel advisers, so we booked a table as a special opportunity to celebrate the women's birthdays that both appeared. Unfortunately we were so disappointed. We booked a table for 4 people at 8 a.m. and arrived 10 minutes early. We said the table was not ready and was asked to drink a drink at the bar while the table was prepared. After 15 minutes of waiting, we asked with the manager if the table was ready, and he said a few more minutes. After another 10 minutes we asked the manager again and he said he can't force people to leave the table if they weren't ready. In fact, he was rather rude and abrupt and did not apologize. At 08:25 we suggested that we had enough to wait a round and wanted to go and suddenly our table was ready. Once we were asked if we wanted more drinks and then our order was taken. No offer was made for a round of drinks on the house to be waited. Our starters arrived within 20 minutes and immediately followed by our main courses. Three of the party ordered steaks. The steak was blande and the peppercorn sauce was without peppercorns. During one of the table staff the plates she asked if everything was fine with meals, we mentioned the tasteless steaks and sauce and we were rudely said we had mentioned something at the beginning. The young lady who presented us with the bill was very pleasant and polite the manager should take a leaf out of her book. Unfortunately, we will never return to this facility again."

"Place is great, but the staff leaves much to imagination!!!! When we arrived, they told us that a group had just sat at our assigned table!! they had not told them it was reserved!! The place was empty... We proposed an alternative table!! We then sat for 10 min b4 asked them if we wanted a drink that then arrived 15min. We ordered food, but also some olives to prevent. They delivered them to another table that had charged them for them at the end of the night. As I say, place is great .. Food is good... but!!!"

"Very diasappointing dining experience in an overprised restaurant. They are selling tables at the Restaurant entrance where you feel like dining at Victoria station apart from the chilly wind that accompanies your dinner. Food was goodbut some has been served cold. Changed on request. We had a three course meal and we were out of the Restaurant by 21:22. This is definetely far away from an Italian dining experience. Everything was rushed, service more than mediocre and nobody even asked if we enjoyed our food. Leaving the Restaurant we were told Arrivederci! This is when I told the concierge that this is most likely not to happen. He wasn‘t even interested to find out why. It is a pitty for such a lovely location."

"I Don’t usually write reviews but this place deserves one. Me and my partner visited Harrogate for the night and decided to book a table here after checking the reviews on trip advisor and open table which were very good. Firstly the greeting was very welcoming and professional, once taken to the table we was greeted by our waiter for the evening who was very friendly and very helpful. Ordered our drinks which came promptly then we started looking at the menu, we looked at the menu in our own time. We then ordered our food with the waiter who again was very friendly very helpful and took the time to answer any questions that we had. Our food arrived fast, hot and presented very well and tasted divine. The food and service was outstanding and very reasonably priced. This is the best meal I’ve had for a long time. I would recommend this place to anyone and I will certainly be going back."

"that is a great little place that is greatly underestimated as an Italian restaurant. service is good, not fantastic, do not expect the flaky, chat and enthusiasm that Italian waiters normally bring, these young are not Italian, but very polite and engaged. but don't come to chat here, they come here for the food. they have all classics, beautifully presented with good to large portions and very hot....a condition many restaurants seem to be missing, these days, all too reasonable trips for the location. total large space for large groups and families. as part of the thames hotel, you can visit the bar before, via the room, for views of the river and occasionally live music."

"I visit at lunchtime regularly. The staff are always welcoming, helpful and polite. The food is always tasty and good value. I tried a lemon cheesecake type dessert with a ginger biscuit base (Jamaican was mentioned) but can't remember the actual name of it, it was lovely .
