"I took my mum and two daughters to Tortworth Court for afternoon tea on December 8th to celebrate my mum's 90th birthday. I had hoped it would be a special treat, but we were disappointed with the experience. After being seated, we had to wait a long time for our order to be taken and for our food to be prepared. The tea that was served was not up to standard - there were no homemade cakes, only bite-sized party food similar to what you would find at a supermarket, and soggy microwave sausage rolls. The finger sandwiches were made with sliced Kingsmill bread, processed cheese, and processed turkey, and were not very tasty. We had to ask for a cup to go with the pot of tea that was brought to our table. We also had to use the same plates for our scones as we had used for the sandwiches. When I asked for butter instead of jam and cream, I was given a packet of sunflower spread. The staff seemed inexperienced and there was no acknowledgment or mention of my mum's special day. Overall, the experience was disappointing and not worth the £135 that we paid. It was not what I would have expected from Tortworth Court."

Breakfast, buffet style, is served in the restaurant, and we took the day we were leaving to sample this. The staff on duty were attentive, good selection of dishes.

Lovely room but very busy on our visit On securing a table we were disappointed that bar snacks were not available on Friday 5th Jan We were directed to ATRIUM bar where there was a long wait to be served

The bar area is the old library and the juxtaposition of modern and more traditional decor is great.Well thought out seating and a great bar area and a large choice of gin and other spirits is thoroughly enjoyable.

A friendly buzz to it on the friday night we ate there. Not so much choice for gluten and dairy free, but dishes could be altered to suit. Efficient staff. Nicely dim lighting meant we felt our post-spa-day limp hair would not be noticed! View menu

Limited but adequate menu, food nicely presented and pleasant. Tables very close together. Service slow, took over 2 hours for a 2 course meal. A number of large groups were dining which were wedding guests including quite a number of exuberant young children. Not the romantic evening we were hoping for

Food and staff excellent and recommended. BUT, while waiting to pay I saw the computer the staff were using. I have NEVER seen a keypad so dirty. I mentioned to the staff that they should not be using the computer in that state due to germs, but they did not seem to take much notice. So hotel management time to ensure that you have clean computers and not just hand gel!

Visited here with friends, the setting is lovely and the Christmas decor is tasteful. The food was good but 5he confit of duck is basically two deep fried rice balls with a small bit of ground duck, not what you imagine and not that great .Blade of beef slow cooked was tender, sadly the service was slow and the waiters sometimes a little hard to understand ,Lighting is low so a bit difficult to read the menu and tables are close together .The venue is romantic and grand which compensatesProsecco at £40 a bottle is a rip off though View menu

Went here on the evening of 3/4/2020Food was fantastic, I had the Broccoli and Stilton soup to start, it was very tasty. For main. I chose the beef. It was beautiful! My partner has a Scallops to start, these were seasoned well and nicely cooked, he then had the duck for his main and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is busy but it’s well managed. One rude waiter, who unfortunately we didn’t get his name. The rest of the staff are great though. They seem to work all hours under the sun as they’re there for the breakfast shift too. For the hours they seem to work, they’re doing a great job!

This was the worst Christmas lunch we have ever encountered. The food had obviously been bought in and heated up in a microwave. The potatoes were lifeless and warmed up. ..no crispy roast potatoes here. The carrots and broccoli were blanched at best , the brussels sprouts were under cooked (and this should be a key area of quality re Christmas dinner). The vegetarian option was nothing more than microwaved stodge, puff pastry supposedly a wellington was more like a mud pudding. The Christmas pudding turned out to be a cheesecake Christmas pudding i.e. a cheesecake with raisins. We would have got a better deal and quality at Asda. It has put us off ever eating food in a De Vere's chain in the...

"I was excited to revisit the New Inn after many years, as it used to be a favorite spot of mine. My group of 8 had pre-ordered at the request of the New Inn, but we were told 15 minutes after our booking time that our food was just being prepared. An hour later, our food still hadn't been served. After checking with the staff, the manager assured us that our order was next. Another 10 minutes passed before our food finally arrived. The gammon came with sides that we didn't like and were not mentioned on the menu. The portions were oversized, which was nice, but they were too much and off-putting. The salad trimmings were of poor quality. The fish in batter was enjoyed by those who ordered it. The main meals were okay, but I would have preferred better quality over quantity. We had to chase the staff for a glass of water, and even after being offered dessert menus, no one came to take our order. When we decided to follow up at the bar, the manager seemed more interested in finding out which staff member had failed to take our order than in solving the issue. The service was okay but could have been better, as no one checked on us after our meals were served. It seems like the staff could benefit from more positive training from a supportive mentor. When we asked for the bill, it took a while for it to be brought to us, so we ended up paying on the way out. It's a shame, as I had fond memories of the New Inn, but I am unlikely to return after this experience."
