"The best dining experience we've had in a while! Our group of friends gets together every six weeks to try out different restaurants, and this was by far the best meal we've enjoyed in some time. The appetizers were delightful, especially the mini pancakes. The main courses were all excellent; I highly recommend the shocking bark. The desserts were equally impressive—I suggest you try the crème brûlée with sesame. It was delicious and offered a wonderful blend of flavors. I can’t recommend this place enough, and it’s listed in the entertainment book too! The only downside was the slow service, but the wait was definitely worthwhile. Our water glasses were promptly refilled, and even though the wine was on the pricier side, it was truly excellent."

Went for dinner with friends, got some tofu noodles and creme brulee for dessert, they were yum. They have a decent selection of drinks too. Would visit again.

Such good food and service. Have been a few times to Resturant 88 and have always enjoyed my meals. The spring rolls to start are yummy and my favorite dish is the shaking beef.

We had dinner at this restaurant during our recent visit to Wellington. The restaurant was pleasantly decorated. Nice atmosphere. Service was friendly. The food was tasty. If you are in Wellington and would like a taste of Vietnamese, you should not miss this palce.

This is not your standard Vietnamese. The dishes are refined and definitely a bit different. The fresh rice paper rolls came with a very tasty dipping sauce. A delicate pancake filled with crispy lemongrass chicken was full of taste and texture. There was also a good wine list.

The food was excellent, but I had to wait an hour for my meal even though the restaurant wasn't busy, which was quite disappointing. The duck taco, presented in an inspired way as an appetizer, was really enjoyable. However, the rest of the dishes were only warm and quickly cooled down. The service left much to be desired, as the staff seemed undertrained. For instance, when my beer glass was empty, the waitress asked if I wanted another, but after I said I was fine, she didn’t even take the empty glass away. View menu

beautiful ambiente and lighting. creates an experience. beautiful and warm. small but creative menu. not a certain vegetarian main choice tho. when asked tofu was available. I found eating authentic Vietnamese taste. I had the shaking beef nudelsalat. very tasty and filling. my friend had the same court with tofu, and my other friend had marinated fish and prawn spits. both really delicious and filling. our waitress was a little bit about starting attentively and we felt under pressure. that was all when more people arrived. recommend to eat here. yum yum yum.

This place is incredible!! Having just got back from a trip to Vietnam I wasn't holding my breath for food as good as I'd had there. But this place completely delivered. I had the Ca (fish dish) which came with a gorgeous papaya salad (zingy, spicy, perfect) and rice. Was faultless, the flavours were out of this world. Had the creme brûlée to finish which was great although I wasn't a fan of the black sesame ice cream it came with. I tried a friend's dessert waffles with coconut ice cream. Divine!!! (And a very generous portion). Great service too. Get yourself here!!

"Shocking dining experience! An absolute travesty!! This used to be a superb pub (service and fayre); in the days when its exterior was adorned in a lovely duck egg blue, in keeping with it’s wonderfully quirky name. Stood at the bar we were ignored by the 3 members of staff engaged in private conversation. After a few minutes of awkwardness, we had to ask for some service. The menu (which had suffered more than it’s fair share of spillages) was not very extensive (only 3 grill choices). The wine menu was poorly constructed of single sheet papers squeezed into a narrow binder, not easy to open and peruse (it fell apart in my hand). The wait for food was substantial and our 2 sirloin steaks were under par. Not very hot, too much fat, and under cooked but still a weighty price at £24.00 for 8ozs. We weren’t asked if everything was ok and given the poor staff patronage, we lost the will to complain! I ordered a second glass of wine and was alerted to a conversation between two members of staff who couldn’t locate my order. So, one advised to ‘just give him Malbec, as it’s already open’. I hadn’t ordered a Malbec but it was poured and they gave it to another member of staff, without telling him it was the wrong wine. He duly apologised but much uncomfortable toing and froing ensued, while we were trying to eat, to locate the wine I had ordered which was to no avail. Staff clearly lack managerial direction. A disappointing experience; a clear demise of service and standards in this establishment, we couldn’t wait to leave! NOT recommended and will NOT be going back!"
