"I last visited on a lunchtime pre Covid and it was very good so always intended a return but wish I hadn't bothered. My onion bhaji starter was pretty flavourless and chewy but my vegetable dansak mains was awful. The vegetables were all overcooked to...the extent that I was only able to identify two, potato and cauliflower. The cauliflower was just about holding together but very soft and another green vegetable, possibly okra or green beans, had neither texture or flavour. The dish was really a bowl of mush with the consistency of baby food and I found the sweetness overpowering, a matter of personal taste. The only other identifiable ingredient was pineapple which added to this sweetness. It had clearly been put together with no care. My wife remarked that it looked like a Heinz vegetable soup when it arrived, an accurate description. My two dining companions had fish which they rated average, hence the rating. Based only on my meal it would have been"

Brilliant friendly service. Food was amazing.. definitely a must place to eat. Had an issue with a taxi and they provided coffees while we waited. Pleasant place

Excellent Indian food in a comfortable, Covid safe, well decorated and clean dining room. Attentive staff although service, at some points, was a little tardy. Notwithstanding, will definitely return.

the food choice is excellent especially as one palate is hot and the other mild! Service is very good and there's plenty of parking, though it is tucked away out of site. A consistently pleasant place to go.

Both food and staff were amazing. All waiters were very helpful and knew the menu very well. As a newly diagnosed coeliac I was pleased that they could advise me according. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Thank you so much guys

Decided to visit after reading the reviews. As other reviewers have stated the food was lovely served by very curious staff. We arrived without a booking but that wasn’t a problem. Must say it’s in an unusual setting. We actually thought our sat nav had...sent us up the wrong country lane. Food was fabulous.

Amaani at the Pumphouse has been on our list or local restaurants to visit for a while. We were not disappointed. The staff are friendly and welcoming and service is prompt and attentive, but not overbearing. We enjoyed a lovely meal I recommend the...fish momo as starter! The naan breads were delicious and the curries tasty and pleasantly spiced. The duck (Hannah) jalfezi is fantastic and my wife loved her Goan chicken curry. We'll definitely be back. Do make a reservation in advance as tables are in demand!

We cannot recommend this restaurant enough!!! After years of visiting Ocean Road in South Shields our favourite restaurant closed so we have been on the hunt ever since for a new Indian Restaurant that didn’t disappoint. Fist visit here tonight and we are so, so...impressed. The food is amazing, the service is brilliant, the setting is truly beautiful and the prices are great. Very busy tonight and still the staff smiled all night and were courteous, polite and very efficient. The Manager came over at the end of the night, who was also an absolute pleasure to speak too. All in all a simply perfect night had with our family. We will certainly be back, this our new favourite restaurant. Don’t...

again like many decided to book a table based on the reviews and was not disappointed. Our family enjoys eating out and we all agreed that Amaani's menu was varied and interesting, not the usual standard menu fillers. On a Monday night there was a...constant stream of people which is always a good sign. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and unusual surroundings One thing stands out though is that my wife forgot her coat, we had to leave early the next morning to travel back down South and the restaurant did not open til late afternoon. I called the restauarant the next day and yes they had the coat and I offered to pay for the postage etc. Not only did they post the coat but they paid the posta...

"Started off really well and went over to the counter and ordered a crepe with banana and Nutella and specifically stated no strawberries I also asked for a San Pelegríno still water as this was on the menu also. I was the first person to order and the last to eat in the end. I got brought my water over which was a cheaper brand water that I just paid £2 for what would I have liked to have seen ? We’ll when I asked for san pelligrino still water to be told that they don’t have that in. Finally my crepe comes and I take a bite and realise that it’s got strawberries in all the way through which I’m allergic too. One of my family members takes it back and says that I asked for banana not strawberry there’s a reason why I can’t eat it and didn’t want it on my crepe. Then 5 minutes later another crepe comes out that was my bitten crepe that someone had opened up and picked the strawberries out and put banana in. Disgusting absolutely … not sure if this was a mistake or just being stingy either way it’s not on. It then again gets returned because there is no way I am eating that and it gets explained once again there is a reason I can’t eat strawberries to which then one of the owners comes over to serve the correct crepe and apologise . I really hope a lesson was learnt today because cross contamination is not a joke. Please be careful when eating there. I didn’t get offered a refund but then again they were willing to serve me a bitten crepe again so it didn’t surprise me that much."
